The objective of this research is to establish multiple regression models between minimum phase HRIRs and the anthropometric parameters in order to individualize a given listener’s HRIRs with his or her own anthropometric parameters. We modeled the entire minimum phase HRIRs in horizontal plane of 37 subjects using principal components analysis (PCA). The individual minimum phase HRIRs can be estimated adequately by a linear combination of ten orthonormal basis functions. We proposed an enhanced individualization method based on multiple regression analysis of weights of basis functions by utilizing eight anthropometric parameters. Our objective simulation’s results show that the estimated minimum phase HRIRs have small error and can be perceived similarly as the measured ones. In addition, the subjective localization performance of the estimated HRIRs is improved compared to the measured HRIRs.","PeriodicalId":207234,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121949459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Zoonosis is any infectious disease that is able to be transmitted from other animals, both wild and domestic, to humans. The increasing number of zoonotic diseases coupled with the frequency of occurrences, especially lately, has made the need to study and understand theses diseases a major concern among researchers from various disciplines. It is important to have a single system that is able to analyze the relationship between different diseases in emergence zoonosis. However, the development of such system presents a daunting and yet to be explored task. Many factors have been attributed but inadequate information has been identified as a major challenge. In this paper, a review on zoonosis aspects and previous research on zoonosis are presented. Based on this review, a framework for developing an emerging zoonosis system is proposed. Therefore, the initial findings of framework were also presented. The system is considered as a zoonosis risk-emergence based on similar pattern recognition of zoonosis domain across different zoonotic diseases. Potential challenges in developing an emerging zoonosis model based on quantitative approach to unify zoonosis knowledge from different diseases into a single system were highlighted.","PeriodicalId":207234,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132559799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the days of the web, issues of usability are critical to computer application such as e-commerce. Usability is re-defined as trade-off between increasing the user’s motivation to encourage exploration and purchasing in e-commerce, and the costs of usability errors [21]. This study reports on methodology applying expert-based and think-aloud methods in the laboratory setting. Usability evaluation of two airlines websites was carried out to study user performance and to investigate the websites’ conformance with ISO standards. Subjects comprised actual users who had experience using the online booking applications. Despite having results indicated that usability evaluation not only reliable in rating a computer application that is enjoyable and usable; it discovered design elements that manipulate users to make mistakes.","PeriodicalId":207234,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications","volume":"69 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131719985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous research works have shown that combination of different types of classifiers provided a good classification results. We noticed a raising interest to incorporate single Bayesian classifier into the multiple classifiers framework. In this light, this research work explored the possibility of employing multiple classifiers approach, but limited to variations of Bayesian technique, namely Naïve Bayes Classifier, Bayesian Networks, and Expert-elicited Bayesian Network. Empirical evaluations were conducted based on a standard network intrusion dataset and the results showed that the multiple Bayesian classifiers approach gave insignificant increase of performance in detecting network intrusions as compared to a single Bayesian classifier. Naives Bayes Classifier should be considered in detecting network intrusions due to its comparable performance with multiple Bayesian classifiers approach. Moreover, time spent for building a NBC was less compared to others.","PeriodicalId":207234,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131244431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Not only it is able to reduce car accident rate, but also it is useful to minimize traffic jam. The communication media between the cars varied but the low cost solution is to use existing wireless networks such as 3G, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, etc. Car-to-car communication implementation over these existing heterogeneous wireless networks requires a fast and reliable handovers when one network becomes unavailable. This paper presents a study on applicability of using the IEEE 802.21 standard as the handover protocol to expedite vertical handover in a car-to-car communication. A fast and simple car-to-car communication handover scheme is proposed and analyzed to show the effectiveness and how it can be implemented further.","PeriodicalId":207234,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123183370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its accomplishment promises to maximize the information reuse. Service composition mechanism wants to facilitate application development by combinations of existent resources which are exposed as services. This mechanism is associated with the notion of loose coupling. The diminution of dependencies between services is intuitively understood and gives immediate benefits. However, this intuitive understanding hides a lack of formal theories. In this paper, we intend to provide a clear definition of the loose coupling notion. We reuse the concepts introduced by our Composite Service MetaModel to identify its associated metrics. These metrics will allow for the comparison of existent service composition approaches. Moreover, they define some development guidelines for architects.","PeriodicalId":207234,"journal":{"name":"2010 Second International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126581547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
