This technique has grabbed much attention in recent years because of manifold advantages, very high compression ratio, high decompression speed, high bit-rate and resolution independence. Since 1990 a lot of techniques and improvements have been published in this field. This review represents survey of most significant advances in the field of fractal image compression.","PeriodicalId":206267,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Digital Image Processing","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123395476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Changes in left ventricular wall thickness have been used for two patients to detect myocardium infarctions. At the first step the cardiac area is found in full short axis gadolinium enhanced cardiac MRI in diastolic and systolic states. After finding the left ventricular (LV) cavity we could estimate changes in LV wall thickness based on the changes in left ventricular areas in diastolic and systolic states. Myocardium infarctions are localized due to American Heart Association standard segmentations. Our method is completely automatic and there is no need for doing any steps manually.","PeriodicalId":206267,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Digital Image Processing","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124384086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the merits of the proposed approach is that it is not necessary to convert the range image into a triangular mesh (initial triangular mesh), a process that requires a large amount of memory, because the proposed algorithm works directly on a range image. The key idea of the paper is to employ an additional data structure, called a ‘flag map’, for the support of the irregular topology changes that happen during the simplification procedure. As the flag map is able to maintain all the history of the topology changes, an easy extraction of the simplified triangular mesh from the flag map is possible.","PeriodicalId":206267,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Digital Image Processing","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121479626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To automate these activities, like in shape, color and texture, weed control system is feasible. The goal of this paper is to build a real-time, machine vision weed control system that can detect weed locations. The algorithm is developed to classify images into broad and narrow class for real-time selective herbicide application. The developed algorithm based on Edge Link Detector has been tested on weeds at various locations, which have shown that the algorithm to be very effectiveness in weed identification. Further the results show a very reliable performance on weeds under varying field conditions. The analysis of the results shows over 93 % classification accuracy over 240 sample images (broad, narrow and no or little weeds) with 100 samples from broad weeds, 100 samples from narrow weeds and the remaining 40 from no or little weeds.","PeriodicalId":206267,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Digital Image Processing","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130460482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Once the image has been digitized, it can be operated upon by various image processing operations like enhancement, restoration, reconstruction, compression. An image defined in the \"real world\" is considered to be a function of two real variables, for example, a(x,y) with a as the amplitude (e.g. brightness) of the image at the real coordinate position (x,y). An image may be considered to contain sub-images sometimes referred to as regions-of-interest, ROIs, or simply regions. This concept reflects the fact that images frequently contain collections of objects each of which can be the basis for a region. In a sophisticated image processing system it should be possible to apply specific image processing operations to selected regions. Thus one part of an image (region) might be processed to suppress motion blur while another part might be processed to improve color rendition. For performing image processing operations ,the basic structure called skeleton is much more essential and highly adaptive tool. Skeletons are important shape descriptors in object representation and recognition. A skeleton that captures essential topology and shape information of the object in a simple form is extremely useful in solving various problems such as character recognition, 3D model matching and retrieval, and medical image analysis. Medical imaging systems. Due to its compact shape representation, image skeleton has been studied for a long time in computer vision, pattern recognition, and optical character recognition. It is a powerful tool for intermediate representation for a number of geometric operations on solid models. Many image processing applications depend on the skeletons.","PeriodicalId":206267,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Digital Image Processing","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129566895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for markerless human body motion capture. We compute volume data (voxels) representation from the images using the method of SFS (shape from silhouettes). Then we match a predefined human body model with pose parameter to the volume data, and the calculation of this matching is transformed into energy function minimization. In minimizing the energy function, we use a method of 3D active contours to solve this problem. In the process of curving surface evolution, the curving surface will drive the human model close to the visual hull. On the other hand, when the human model is superposed with the human real pose, the curving surface can create a 3D human body reconstruction based on the visual hull and human model. Promising results on real images demonstrate the potentials of the presented method.","PeriodicalId":206267,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Digital Image Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130284116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
