Some previous papers have tried to analyze the one-to-many multicast tree and have obtained that the most efficient tree depends on the characteristics of the receivers such as the number of receivers. For many-to-many multicast, on the other hand, the efficiency of the tree has not been analyzed. This paper analyzes how various components affect the efficiency of the many-to-many multicast tree. As a result, it is shown that the most efficient many-to-many multicast tree does not depend on the number of multicast members. The result also tells that the diameter of the tree, the variance of node degrees, and the number of leaf nodes mostly decide the delay performance of the tree","PeriodicalId":205758,"journal":{"name":"2006 Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130374106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The NGN architecture assumes the admission control for all the premium service and monitoring the service performance to meet the QoS requirement. The reliability and performance of the premium services is one of the key requirements in NGN. However, no clear solution for monitoring the one-way delay performance of packet switching network is available. In Korea, broadband convergence network (BcN) architecture has been developed to provide the foundation of converging IT technologies. The reliability and performance of the premium services of BcN is maintained by OAM over virtual switched path (VSP). This paper presents an efficient the performance monitoring and control algorithm for packet switching network. In this paper, we will introduce an efficient delay measurement algorithm for BcN called Diffprobe (differentiated probe). DiffProbe is used for one way delay measurement in asynchronous packet switching network where the clock synchronization is not available. Network control strategy using DiffProbe is also presented. To deal with these bottlenecks commonly associated with multimedia transmission, various diversity coding schemes have been proposed. We have previously shown that wireless OFDM systems based on space-time block-coding with adaptive beamforming (STBC-OFDM-AB) are well suited to multimedia communication. Recent studies have shown further performance gains in systems utilizing space-time-frequency (STF) coding. In the best effort services the quality of service (QoS) perceived by a user is inconsistent and unpredictable. The QoS based routing provides QoS guarantees to multimedia applications and an efficient utilization of the network resources. The key performance objectives associated with QoS based routing include the aspects that enhance the QoS of traffic streams like minimization of delay, maximization of throughput, minimization of blocking rate. In this paper, we propose a new QoS routing algorithm which uses a fuzzy logic controller to mixed link parameters. As it will be shown, the proposed algorithm has less bandwidth blocking ratio and more throughput than the traditional QoS routing algorithms which use other logics to mix parameters. In this respect, it should have a proper media access control (MAC) protocol to allocate bandwidth effectively and fairly among ONUs. Moreover, it should be able to support quality of service (QoS) on a per-queue basis. To address these issues, we develop a dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) scheme and a scheduling algorithm called eligible reporting. The eligible reporting is composed of a simple rate-controller and the priority reporting. It endows EPON with the ability to support priority service in the sense that delay and bandwidth allocations are decoupled. Also, our DBA scheme achieves high network utilization in the weighted max-min fair sense.
