They are very tiny devices with limited energy, memory, transmission range, and computation power. So, wireless sensor networks are vulnerable to security attack such as sinkhole attack, wormhole attack, and simple power exhaustion attack. However, wireless sensor networks must be secured from obstructing the delivery of correct sensor data and from forging sensor data. The security and privacy problem related to wireless sensor networkpsilas application has become a serious issue in the real service environment. In this paper, we propose our management platform and security framework for wireless sensor networks. The proposed framework has advantages as regards secure association and intrusion detection. Furthermore, the proposed mechanism can be applied to ubiquitous application such as u-city, u-healthcare, u-defense as a secure wireless sensor network management platform.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114351184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An ADM with pre-processed signals is proposed here. For example large variations in the input signal require larger step sizes. If step size is not increased, it leads to slope overload error. The large variations in the input signal are removed /smoothened by a suitable pre-processing method, one of which is using an integrator which can smoothen the rapid changes. The SONG and `improved¿ modified ABATE algorithm is used for the adaptation of step size. A speech coding system based on sub-band coding [1] with the pre-processed signals is also described here (two-channel and four-channel). Simulations have confirmed that the ADM with pre-processing leads to a high dynamic range performance and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) compared to the conventional ADM.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129832721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such face tracks are important for many potential applications such as video face recognition, face matching, and face-name association. The basic idea is to use the Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi (KLT) tracker to track interest points throughout video frames, and each face track is formed by the faces detected in different frames that share a large enough number of tracked points. However, since interest points are sensitive to illumination changes, occlusions, and false face detections, face tracks are often fragmented. Our proposed method maintains tracked points of faces instead of shots, and interest points are re-computed in every frame to avoid these issues. Experimental results on different long video sequences show the effectiveness of our approach.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130276120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The technique relies on the so called ¿Shape from Polarization¿ technique. The principle of this polarization imaging technique is as follows: after being reflected, an unpolarized light becomes partially linearly polarized. The surface normals can be evaluated by analyzing their polarization parameters and by knowing the refractive index of the object to be controlled. Finally, the 3D shape is obtained by integrating the normals field. After an introduction to expose the problematic, section 2 exposes the principles of polarization technique. The third and the last section deal with the polarimetric camera and the whole experimental system.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131034686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With rapid growth of services, applications and devices in smart home environment, the interoperability factor seems still elusive. This is due to the nature of smart home as distributed architecture that needs certain degree of interoperability and interoperation for managing heterogeneous systems comprising of different platforms. These heterogeneous systems are developed in isolation and consist of different operating systems, different programming platform and different tier of services. There is need for a mechanism that could make the heterogeneous systems `talk¿ each other and interoperate in an efficient manner regardless of operating platform. Web services seems to be state-of-the art technology that could be one potential solution in providing greater interoperability. In this paper we describe interoperability issues that need to be considered and we present a solution based on Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) technology to solve the interoperability problem in smart home environment.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114843156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is based on an uncalibrated stereovision system composed of five cameras circularly located around the object to be analysed. An evolutionary algorithm provides two basic elements: on the one hand, the interesting point depth values and on the other hand, the transformation matrix between the two images. The novelty of our approach resides in the use of bounds of the difference between a Bezier patch and its quasi-interpolating control net. The quasi-interpolating polygon of a Bezier surface of arbitrary degree approximates the limit surface within a precision that is function of the second order difference of the control points, which allows for very simple projections and 2D intersection tests to determine sub-patches containing a potential intersection. Our algorithm is simple, because it only determines a 2D parametric interval containing the solution, and efficient because the quasi-interpolating polygon is directly computed, which avoids both minimum or maximum evaluations of the basis functions or complex envelops construction.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131566193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
