Similarly, there is the lack of a unified method for synchronizing both continuous-time and discrete-time systems via a scalar signal. This paper and the companion one [1] aim to bridge these two gaps by presenting a novel general unified framework to synchronize chaotic systems via a scalar signal. This paper focuses on discrete-time systems, while the companion paper [1] deals with continuous-time systems. Herein, the observer-based synchronization framework exploits a structural condition related to the controllability matrix of the error system in order to achieve any type of dead-beat synchronization (i.e., exact synchronization in finite time) via a scalar synchronizing signal. Examples of different types of synchronization are illustrated, with the aim to show the capabilities of the conceived approach.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123162670","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The demonstrator was designed to verify the proper hardware operation and to calculate the various constants used, thus the operations on the underlying model are bit-accurate. The embedded hardware is based on systems that have been developed for use in the field of High Energy Physics (HEP) and, in particular, in the trigger system of the ATLAS Experiment. The algorithm which is implemented is based on the learning process of the human vision and acts as an edge detector. The demonstrator is using the Qt application framework and the underlying model is written in C++. This separation allows the application to be used as an image viewer or as a command line tool. The latter allows the fast and efficient use of the application for the parallel processing of multiple images, the generation of Pattern Banks and the calculation of the constants used in the hardware.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129115050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several applications have become part of the smartphone capabilities such as e-mail monitoring, Internet browsing, social networks activities, etc. However, the increased computation and storage capabilities of smartphones have attracted more and more cyber attacks in terms of writing mobile malware for various purposes. In this paper, we present an intrusion detection system (IDS) for detecting the anomaly behaviors in Android mobile devices. The IDS continuously monitors the network traffic of the mobile device and collects various features of the NetFlows. An artificial neural network (ANN) gathers the data flows and determines whether there is an invasion or not. The proposed IDS is demonstrated in realistic conditions, where the accuracy of the systems reaches 85%.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129751023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Massive MIMO schemes demand heavy computations for precoding, channel estimation and data detection due to the volume of involved data and the requirement for operations such as matrix inversion. Several methods have been proposed for matrix inversion, which take into account complexity conceived at operation level. In this paper, we evaluate Newton's iterative method for matrix inversion for massive MIMO data detection at hardware implementation level and we investigate hardware design aspects targeting FPGA implementation. Also, we appraise different numerical representation of data, considering FPGA resources, throughput rate and BER as metrics and we present a practical implementation with near-optimal BER performance.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132780197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The selection of the multi memory fields is succeeded via intra-encoders, placed one for every memory field. The addressing of the memory is done using a modified approach of the crossbar addressing scheme. At the presented implementation, each memory field comprises of 8 by 8 memory cell sectors. However, using the same design guidelines, memories and memory fields of bigger size, can be easily created. Each memory cell uses an 8T model. At the end, simulation results are presented, which verify the successful multi field access of the memory.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132282638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The bandwidth of Associative Memories is a critical aspect that needs to be addressed in order to increase the number of comparisons per second. Our aim is to transfer parallel buses at 500 MHz. Since a large number of receivers/drivers will be included in the AM chip, power consumption of the circuits has been taken into account. The design discussed in this work has been submitted for fabrication in December 2016 in a 28 nm CMOS technology.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"138 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115712575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Modulation is achieved by directly modulating a direct digital synthesizer (DDS) generated signal. The proposed architecture is based on single-bit sigma-delta modulation using the introduced homodyne band-pass filter topology, which allows for the adjustment of its central frequency without changing its coefficients. This is achieved by using variable frequency homodyne down- and up-conversion along with a low-pass filter with fixed coefficients. Furthermore, a multiplier-less homodyne filter topology is shown to be possible, greatly reducing the hardware requirements for its implementation. MATLAB simulation results are presented based on a 64-QAM modulation scheme demonstrating the capabilities of the proposed architecture.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126187601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, two split ring resonator (SRR)-based WPT configurations, with circular and square SRRs, as their transmitting and receiving elements, are investigated for various frequencies and distances. The efficiency is found to be very satisfactory in both cases, exceeding 98% for certain sets of parameters. Thus, the general response of both arrangements seems to be promising for effective power transfer over distances of a few centimeters.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125011160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Quantum noise is stochastically generated in quantum systems as decoherence, or during gate operations. The simulation is allowed for a single data block made of qubits. A simple quantum error correction protocol runs with a selected quantum error correction code and the module estimates the probability that the code will fail to work under particular noise regimes. The error correction protocol is described and the estimation method is analysed. The adopted module is integrated into QuCirDET maintaining its independence from the interface. The design tool can be used to create and test decoding schemes under different quantum codes.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132947957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
