The bibliographical data were collected from SCOPUS database and the altmetric data were collected by using the altmetric harvesting tools AltmetricIt and PlumX. The study's findings show that the citation count and the Altmetric Attention Score of the top twenty highly cited publications on plagiarism published between 2011 to 2020 from India are much lower than those from other countries. The Spearman correlation analysis of the citation count and AAS shows that they are not correlated. The study hopes that in the future, the publications to be published from India on important subjects such as plagiarism will have a more significant online impact on the research community and will help the authors and the publishers to understand the current status of the popularity of their research publications and the impact they have made on the research community.","PeriodicalId":202179,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Library and Information Services","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122954226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Library and information centres are creating spaces called makerspaces in this digital transformation era, whereby researchers work together and share ideas in their various areas of specialisation. Makerspace are relatively new phenomena that create a collaborative and innovative environment for individuals to work on projects and learn about emerging technologies. Technology-centred makerspaces are increasingly being built in academic libraries, typically featuring high-tech machines and software that facilitate creation and design. This study investigated the creation and adoption of technology-centred makerspaces in academic libraries and the impact that makerspaces have on academic innovation. The study utilized literature review analyzed secondary data from articles, journals, periodicals, and publications to identify the need to design makerspaces, what is required in setting up a makerspace, and how academic libraries utilize makerspaces. The benefits accrued from makerspaces, barriers to effective adoption of these spaces, factors enabling adoption of makerspaces, and the state-of-the-art facilities offered by the library were also explored in this study. It is recommended that library management should not hesitate to establish makerspaces in their respective academic libraries, as this will aid in promoting knowledge-sharing, collaboration, creativity, and innovation.","PeriodicalId":202179,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Library and Information Services","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114032135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Just 294 undergraduates from six federal universities in Southwest, Nigeria participated in the survey. A questionnaire was posted on online platforms to collect data from the participants. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics with tables and charts adopted in the presentation of results. Findings revealed that the most used of social media platforms for sharing COVID-19 information was WhatsApp, while satire, music, and comedy were moderately used with comedy used mostly. Gratifications for satire, music and comedy use have positive effect on the undergraduates' sharing of COVID-19 information (β =0.531, P=0.000). Wherefore, academic libraries' provision of access to credible COVID-19 information in form of satire, music and comedy will possibly promote the sharing of reliable COVID-19 information among the undergraduates and as well foster meeting their gratifications positively.","PeriodicalId":202179,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Library and Information Services","volume":"78 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128417853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, many universities spend a large part of their institutional budgets on acquiring new library books, paying for high online journal subscription fees, and recruiting library staff. However, few studies have been conducted to evaluate the contribution of the university libraries to the students' success. Thus, this study, which applied a quantitative survey methodology to quantify the contribution of a Namibian university library to student academic performance, was conducted. The study determined the contribution of the university library services to students' academic performance. Additionally, the study established a relationship between students' library service satisfaction and academic performance. Analysis of library user satisfaction, student age, and gender were also examined.","PeriodicalId":202179,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Library and Information Services","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116982861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MOOCs rely on multimedia technology, and the fragmented characteristics of its sources and the profitability of the MOOC involve more complicated legal relationships. It has been proven that an effective way of dealing with copyright risk is through the participation of university libraries in MOOCs. The practical significance of this paper lies in how to exert a library's professional advantages and how to participate in MOOC production in order to solve the copyright risk of MOOC. Furthermore, the rapid development of MOOCs provides the realistic basis for speeding up the legislative process for the adjustment of copyright regulations. Therefore, it is necessary to perfect the copyright legislation related to MOOCs: let no masterworks get into the public domain but allow the orphan works to be used directly on the premise of paying an escrow fee.","PeriodicalId":202179,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Library and Information Services","volume":"32 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114126380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
