{"title":"Cultivating practices for resilience with baccalaureate nursing students: A pilot study.","authors":"Janie Heath, Lee A Walmsley, Cara Braido, Kent Brouwer, Amanda T Wiggins, Karen M Butler","doi":"10.1111/ppc.12960","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1111/ppc.12960","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Purpose: </strong>The purpose of Cultivating Practices for Resilience (CPR) was to develop, implement, and evaluate college-wide strategic initiatives to promote wellness and resilience and improve mental health outcomes in baccalaureate nursing students.</p><p><strong>Design and methods: </strong>Six hundred and fifty-four students were invited to complete a 24-item survey over 3 weeks in 2021. Descriptive statistics/logistic regression were used for data analysis.</p><p><strong>Findings: </strong>One hundred and thirty-one students completed the survey; 61% were sophomores. White students (p = 0.024) and males (p = 0.023) had higher intentions to refer colleagues to mental health services. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 119 healthy primigravid women. The study which is cross-sectional was conducted with 280 pregnant women. Percentages, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analyzes were used for data analysis.</p><p><strong>Findings: </strong>Pregnant women with a positive pregnancy-related motherhood and body perception had low sexual dysfunction. {"title":"Depression symptoms and quality of life in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.","authors":"Derya Yuksel Kocak, Meltem Ugurlu","doi":"10.1111/ppc.13131","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1111/ppc.13131","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Purpose: </strong>To determine depression symptoms and quality of life in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>The data were collected using the Participant Information Form, PCOS Quality of Life Questionnaire (PCOSQ-50), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). The study was conducted with 131 women.</p><p><strong>Findings: </strong>The average BDI score was found to be lower in women with PCOS who perceived their income as sufficient (p = 0.033) and who worked (p = 0.003) and was found to be higher in the participants who had hirsutism (p = 0.008) and acne (p = 0.045). The PCOSQ-50 average score was 178.15 ± 27.27 in women without depression symptoms and 139.14 ± 31.33 in women with depression symptoms. This study was carried out with the aim of determining the reflections of nurses' moral intelligence levels on their care behaviors.</p><p><strong>Findings: </strong>This study was descriptive and cross-sectional in nature. The study's sample size is 200 nurses. A personal Information Form, Moral Intelligence Scale, and Caring Behaviors Scale were used to collect data. It was determined that nurses' moral intelligence levels and caring behavior average scores were high. There was a highly significant positive connection (p = 0.001) between the mean scores of the moral intelligence total and subdimensions. All the nurses were selected as the study participants using the census sampling method (N = 209).</p><p><strong>Findings: </strong>Nurses' patient safety competency was at a low level (2.54 ± 0.52), but nurses' safe care was at a moderate level (242.08 ± 61.32). The study was completed with a total of 170 participants (n = 84, intervention group; n = 86, control group). Data were collected using the Descriptive Characteristics Form, State-trait Anxiety Inventory, Spirituality Well-Being Scale, and Scale of Positive and Negative Experience. The intervention group participated in three mindfulness-based mandala sessions. This study was registered with ClinicalTrials.gov as NCT05053178.</p><p><strong>Findings: </strong>In three sessions, there was a significant decrease in the intervention group compared with the control group regarding the mean values of pretest and posttest anxiety levels.
