Conditions associated with sterility, diseases, and assisted reproductive technologies all contribute to oxidative stress burden. Among clinical characteristics, body mass index (BMI) and hormonal treatments play a crucial role in oxidative stress dynamics. During in vitro fertilization (IVF), measuring 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) levels in follicular fluid and granulosa cells is an accepted method for oxidative stress assessment. Objective: Our aim was to explore associations between 8-OHdG and environmental or patient characteristics (BMI, follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH], luteinizing hormone [LH], estradiol, etc.) using multivariate statistical methods. Method: Between January and May 2022, at the University of Pécs, we analyzed follicular fluid and granulosa cell samples from 35 IVF patients. Oxidative stress markers were assessed in relation to patient characteristics and clinical outcomes. Results: No significant differences were found in oxidative stress marker levels between the pregnant and the non-pregnant group. Canonical correspondence analysis identified BMI, FSH, LH, estradiol, and FSH dose as significant influencing factors for oxidative stress. Generalized additive models revealed a nonlinear impact of BMI and estradiol, higher BMI was associated with increased oxidative stress, while estradiol showed a concentration-dependent non-linear effect. Baseline FSH level demonstrated a significant positive linear relationship with oxidative stress markers. Discussion and conclusion: Obesity-related oxidative stress increase was clearly detectable in our study. While the literature acknowledges the oxidative stress-enhancing effect of controlled ovarian stimulation, the dependency on FSH dose remains controversial despite the significant association found in our results. Evaluating oxidative stress levels in infertile patients may help improve treatment success rates. Careful assessment of laboratory parameters and potential interventions before initiating IVF treatment is crucial, and controlled ovarian stimulation protocols should be optimized considering their oxidative stress-enhancing and outcome-reducing effects. Dispatchers play a key role in supporting lay responders, yet their responsibility often remains unrecognized. The aim of this summary was to examine the cooperation between dispatchers and lay first aid providers from various perspectives. Advancements in technology are significantly improving prehospital care. The emergence of structured decision-support software, video-assisted resuscitation, and artificial intelligence-based systems can considerably enhance the effectiveness of first aid. Video communication enables improvement in the quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and more accurate classification of emergency calls. Artificial intelligence applications such as automatic speech recognition and natural language processing can aid in the early detection of critical conditions, optimize resource allocation, and support dispatchers in decision-making. However, further research is needed to fully harness the potential of these innovations for the advancement of emergency care and first aid. Beyond these, human factors also play a crucial role. The stress associated with health-threatening situations affects both callers and dispatchers. Callers may experience psychological trauma, guilt, or long-term anxiety, while dispatchers are continuously exposed to critical incidents, which can lead to burnout or post-traumatic stress disorder. Furthermore, the education of lay responders and the enhancement of their cooperation with dispatchers is of great importance. Studying attitudes toward first aid can help identify barriers, while improving communication strategies can enhance the effectiveness of emergency calls and the success of life-saving interventions. If technological advancements are utilized during the cooperation between dispatchers and callers, and the human aspects of collaboration (such as education and psychological factors) are also improved, it can positively impact the quality of patient care. Previously, research on the etiological factors of dysphagia has primarily focused on organic causes. However, factors, such as psychological and cognitive dysfunctions, may also play crucial role in dysphagia. Objective: Our study aims to investigate whether there is a relationship between neglect syndrome and dysphagia, moreover, to examine whether the duration and quality of speech therapy differ between dysphagic patients with neglect and those without neglect. Patients and methods: A prospective study was conducted in a rehabilitation unit specializing in brain injury patients between January 1, 2021 and May 1, 2022. During this period, 44 patients received dysphagia therapy. We formed a neglect dysphagia group (n = 8) and a functionally matched dysphagia group without neglect (n = 8). Data were collected through document analysis, followed by descriptive statistics, comparative analysis, and correlation analysis. Results: In the neglect group, only preventive therapy could be applied, whereas in the matched control group, rehabilitative, compensatory, and preventive therapy methods were used. Spearman correlation analysis revealed trend-level association between initial functional status and the duration of speech therapy in the neglect group (p = 0.06). In the control dysphagia group, a significant correlation was found between the length of hospital stay and the duration of speech therapy (p<0.05). Discussion: Only half of the patients arrived with dysphagia diagnosis. A trend-level difference was observed in the duration of therapy between the two groups, and the neglect group required a distinct therapeutic approach. It can be concluded that the more severe cognitive status at admission in the neglect group may prolong the duration of speech therapy. In the control dysphagia group, hospital stay duration was associated with the severity of dysphagia. Conclusion: Neglect syndrome influences dysphagia therapy. Weaker cognitive status of neglect patients at admission lead to a longer treatment period. Objective, method: Following the initial phase of the FeverFriend program, the adaptive, real-world, prospective, cohort study was continued. Hypotheses were tested by processing the data obtained. Results: Our hypotheses were confirmed by the above analyses, i.e., the application measures the population affected by childhood febrile illness in a stable manner over time in terms of age, fever height and duration. The results of the triage of the app show stability independent of the frequency of app use, and the association between the app’s educational effort and caregiver-care receiver triage is positively correlated. Conclusion: The time variation between the educational goal of the app and the reason for medication use shows a positive association: caregivers give less medication due to concerns in the second study period. To assess the impact of polycystic ovary syndrome on quality of life, it is essential to use disease-specific measurement tools, which are not widely available in Hungarian. Objective: Our study aimed to adapt the Hungarian version of the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Quality of Life scale and to evaluate its psychometric properties. We examined the differences in the quality of life between patients with polycystic ovary syndrome and healthy controls. Furthermore, we explored the relationship between body mass index, negative affect, body image concerns and polycystic ovary syndrome-related quality of life. Method: Data were collected online from April to October 2024 (n = 854). In addition to demographic variables, the following questionnaires were administered: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Quality of Life scale, World Health Organization Quality-of-Life Scale, Body Image Concern Inventory, and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale. Results: Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the original four-factor structure. The healthy control group showed significantly higher scores in physical and psychological health, environment, and overall quality of life. The mediation analysis indicated that BMI and negative affect have a negative impact on polycystic ovary syndrome specific quality of life, which is partially mediated by body image concerns. Discussion: Our findings confirm the four-factor structure of the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Quality of Life Scale. Women with polycystic ovary syndrome reported lower quality of life across multiple dimensions compared to healthy controls. The mediation analysis highlights the complex interactions between metabolic, endocrine and psychological factors, emphasizing the need for a multidisciplinary approach. Conclusion: Based on our results, the Hungarian version of the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Quality of Life scale is a reliable and valid tool for assessing disease-specific quality of life. Conventional coagulation tests are not suitable for accurately assessing anticoagulant activity, making specific monitoring methods (e.g., anti-FXa, viscoelastic tests) essential. Among antidotes, idarucizumab is effective for rapidly reversing the effects of dabigatran, while andexanet alfa neutralizes apixaban and rivaroxaban, though its availability and thrombosis risk limit its use. Alternative strategies include prothrombin complex concentrate or extracorporeal techniques. Determining anticoagulant plasma concentrations before urgent interventions aids clinical decision-making, but in critical cases, hemostatic therapy should commence without awaiting lab results. Following bleeding management, timely reinitiation of anticoagulation is crucial to mitigate thrombotic risk.
