Adequate knowledge regarding pelvic floor disorders could lead to increased healthcare-seeking behavior, which may help to reduce the economic burden of these disorders. Objective: The present study aims to evaluate knowledge about pelvic floor disorders and pelvic floor muscle training and to assess healthcare seeking behavior among young women. Method: 221 young women (mean age: 20.65 ± 1.67 years) were included in the present cross-sectional study. The Prolapse and Incontinence Knowledge Questionnaire was used to assess knowledge about pelvic floor disorders. The International Consultation of Incontinence Questionnaire – Short Form was used to assess the severity of urinary incontinence. To explore the source of knowledge about pelvic floor muscle training, we used the relevant questions from the Pelvic Floor Muscle Training – Patient-Reported Outcome Measures questionnaire. All statistical analyses were performed with IBM SPSS version 28.0. The level of statistical significance was set at p<0.05. Results: Urinary incontinence had been experienced by 15.89% of participants (n = 34). Among them, only 4 young women (11.76%) sought healthcare. The mean score of the International Consultation of Incontinence Questionnaire – Short Form was 3.94 ± 4.47. Urinary incontinence knowledge was deemed proficient in 23.53% of participants (n = 52), while pelvic organ prolapse knowledge was deemed proficient in 32.13% of participants (n = 71). Only 19% of participants (n = 42) had performed pelvic floor muscle training, and less than half of them (47.61%, n = 20) were confident that they practiced it correctly. 16.66% of them (n = 7) had received verbal instruction on pelvic floor muscle training from a professional, and 4.76% (n = 2) indicated that a specialist had checked the correct implementation of the pelvic floor muscle training. Conclusion: Young women had limited knowledge about pelvic floor disorders. Healthcare seeking for urinary incontinence was low. Additionally, the number of women who had practiced pelvic floor muscle training was low. Numerous adjuvant procedures have been presented in the literature, however, their efficiency remains controversial, often due to low case numbers and the consequential inappropriate statistical interpretation. Objective: Our aim was to survey the demographical and epidemiological data of patients treated at the Department of Orthopedics of Semmelweis University between 2008 and 2023, compare these data to the international literature, and analyze the impact of different adjuvant therapies on recurrence-free survival. Method: 135 patients’ data have been analyzed. Depending on the type of surgery and adjuvant therapy, the patients were clustered into homogenous groups, and their recurrence-free survival probabilities were compared. Results: Among the different adjuvant therapies, the lowest recurrence rates were observed when using phenol with bone resin (21%) or phenol only (30%). Wide resection resulted in a significantly reduced recurrence rate (5%) but in most cases also in sacrificing the joint. 67% of patients became tumor-free after the curettage of the primary tumor. Conclusion: When treating giant cell tumor of bone, joint-sparing techniques must be prioritized. This makes intralesional curettage combined with local adjuvant therapy the most practiced surgery. Utilizing phenol alone or with bone resin seems to reduce the recurrence rates nearly equally, which were curative in 67% of the cases at the first time. Filling the deficiency with homologous bone and acrylic bone resin is less efficient and is only advised in defined indications. The most effective treatment is wide resection but, in most cases, it results in sacrificing the joint. Recurrence did not indicate the more aggressive behavior of the tumor, probably it was due to the limitations of the prior surgery. The primary tumor underwent malignant transformation in 4%. Bundled payment can be a suitable financing method for, e.g., chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to make care more patient-centerd and shift towards care based primarily on outpatient care. Objective: The aim of this study is to describe the demographic characteristics of COPD patients enrolled in the COPD Bundled Payment (CKF) Program, the trends in acute exacerbations and in the number of outpatient hospitalizations and outpatient care events due to COPD, compared to conventional COPD care. Method: The Program ran from 01. 11. 2021 to 31. 12. 2023 in four care centers. Patients were enrolled based on reporting to the National Health Insurance Fund of Hungary with a principal diagnosis of COPD (ICD J43–44) in the first 12 months. The involved patients (n = 2079) were followed up for 12 months (n = 2021). Their demographic characteristics, quality of life according to the COPD Assessment Test (CAT), incidence of exacerbations and hospitalization were analyzed by descriptive methods. Data were compared with national data for 2019 and the follow-up year. Results: The largest proportion of patients followed (35.8%) belonged to the Győr center, the majority were male (53%), aged 60–79 years (72%), and 27% were highly symptomatic according to the CAT. During the follow-up period, acute exacerbation of COPD was subjectively assessed in 30% of the included patients, compared to 20.8% by the objective method, and 22.4% among COPD patients in conventional care. The hospitalization rate for COPD was 7.2% among the participants in the Program, compared to 9% nationally. The average number of outpatient visits for COPD patients during the Program was 2.53, compared to 2.34 nationally. Conclusion: Although there were slightly more outpatient visits compared to the national data due to increased care in the Program, we observed a decreasing rate of COPD exacerbations and hospitalizations. Our results suggest that bundled payment may be a simpler and more appropriate financing method for COPD in the future, and could encourage healthcare providers to be more cost-effective, while maintaining adequate patient safety. Its mortality remains high despite the fact that resuscitation recommendations define more precisely the factors that can improve the success of resuscitation. One of the determining factors for the success of resuscitation is the timely and professionally performed basic life support by laypeople. It is therefore essential that laypeople have basic knowledge in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. One of the most effective methods achieving this goal is to teach cardiopulmonary resuscitation to children in preschool and school settings. In this review, the founders of the “Kids Save Lives in Hungary” initiative and the coworkers of the Hungarian Resuscitation Council publish a joint recommendation regarding the methods and curriculum of school resuscitation education, providing guidance on the length, content, frequency and implementation of the education. In addition, special emphasis is placed on who should train children cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and what type of ‘train the trainer’ course should be provided to instructors and school teachers. In our recommendation, we also discuss the implementation strategy we propose in order to ensure a widespread distribution of effective and sustainable cardiopulmonary resuscitation education in Hungarian schools. Objective: The objective of this study is to examine which patterns may indicate an increased risk of recidivism in individuals with mental illness, and to identify factors that may have contributed to repeated court-ordered involuntary treatment. Method: In this retrospective study, authors analyzed the documentation of 301 inpatients, who were discharged from the National Institute of Forensic Psychiatry between 2000 and 2015. Sociodemographic, clinical, and crime-related information was recorded in the study. Results: 5.3% of the patients had previously been in compulsory treatment. Authors identified the following risk factors for re-offending: previous criminal offenses that did not result in compulsory treatment, violence against an official person, being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime, older age, the diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, and social institutional housing. In the whole sample, authors found 5 person-oriented patterns that were risk factors in offenders suffering from mental illness. 2 of the 5 patterns were characteristic for re-offenders. Discussion: In our representative study, in line with the international literature, we identified a number of sociodemographic, forensic, and clinical variables that were associated with a higher risk of relapse in patients undergoing involuntary treatment. Due to the aging population and lifestyle changes in the modern world, hip osteoarthritis affects an increasing number of people, leading to a growing demand for endoprosthetic implantation. Objective: Analyzing demographic aspects and surgical technique trends is crucial for achieving successful endoprosthetic outcomes. This study aims to draw valuable conclusions about changes in everyday clinical practice by analyzing 26 years of elective hip arthroplasty data from the Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Pécs. Method: Surgical records from the Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Pécs from 1998 to 2023 were available for analysis. Data from 8,746 surgeries performed over these 26 years were processed. Linear correlation analysis and the Kruskal–Wallis test were used for statistical evaluation. Results: Patient age increased significantly over the study period (p = 0.001), with women older than men in primary surgeries (p = 0.001), but no age difference in revisions (p = 0.150). Gender distribution remained stable, with more women operated (p = 0.001). Surgery numbers fluctuated, showing a significant decline (p = 0.014), followed by an increase after waiting list reduction programs. Revision rates remained stable (p = 0.071). Primary coxarthrosis was the main primary indication (86%), and aseptic loosening dominated revisions (83%). Insert wear appeared as a revision cause, accounting for 35.5% in the last 5 years. Complete revisions decreased from 34.4% to 10%. Discussion: Compared to other countries, surgery numbers rose globally but fluctuated here. Patient age increased locally, unlike the international decline. Gender differences and indications were similar worldwide. COVID–19 pandemic a sharper surgery drop at our clinic than elsewhere. Conclusion: The University of Pécs exhibits hip arthroplasty trends partially consistent with international findings, though several differences exist, likely influenced by national healthcare policies. TricValve (bicaval, heterotopic valve system) implantation is a new palliative treatment option. The stented bioprosthesis are implanted in the inferior and superior caval veins without interveniening with the native tricuspid valve. We would like to present the first TricValve implantation in Hungary. The 74-year-old woman was admitted for decompensation after repeted hospitalization for right-sided heart failure due to severe secondary tricuspid regurgitation. On admission, she was in NYHA IV functional class with significant fluid retention. On echocardiogram, left ventricular ejection fraction was preserved with signs of right ventricle volume overload and a non-coapting tricuspid valve regurgitation severe regurgitation. Tricuspid valve replacement was indicated, however, the Heart Team contraindicated any surgeries due to the high risk of mortality. The anatomy of the tricuspid valve was not suitable for percutaneous interventions either, however, the anatomy of the caval veins was suitable for TricValve implantation. The valve implantation underwent in a relatively compensated state without any complications. After cardiac rehabilitation, the patient was in NYHA II functional class, the diuretic need was lowered significantly and in the following year no hospitalisation was needed. TricValve implantation can be a solution for patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation if medical treatment is insufficient and surgical and percutaneous valve repair is contraindicated. The implanted cavals valves reduce the reverse venous flow, therefore congestion and symptoms are reduced. To the best of our knowledge, this new procedure can be an adequate palliative treatment, however, long-term survival data are not available yet.
