Abstract

Open-source intelligence is the collection, analysis, and use of information legally obtained from public sources for a specific purpose. Although information obtained from open sources is not validated, it is useful in evidence-based medicine due to its rapid accessibility. In order to contain the spread of epidemics and respond to them, it is essential to obtain information as quickly as possible. The tools and sources of open-source intelligence procedures are therefore used by several institutions established for this purpose, as well as by the World Health Organization.
