The working frequencies of the A-shaped, N-shaped and T-shaped antenna are 2.28 GHz, 2.22 GHz and 2.10 GHz, respectively. For the ANT-shaped antenna which is formed by a combination of the three letters antennas, the radiation performance and the mutual coupling of the antenna are analyzed. It can be seen that the radiation characteristics of the letter-shaped antennas are similar to the normal patch antennas. The OAM antenna exhibits 5.8-dBi maximum gain, has an impedance bandwidth of 25% over the frequency range 5.2-6.7 GHz with more than 10-dB return loss. The structure has the effect of ultra-wideband, polarization-independent, and high absorption during microwave band. According to the simulation, the structure has absorbance more than 75% in the region of 4.3~21.5GHz band under the incidence of linear polarized wave. The structure not only protects resistive film from the outside, but also makes it easier to integrate with laminated glass. By replacing the series capacitors used in the conventional CL CPW ZOR antenna with varactor diodes and properly designing the feed-in capacitor, a well-matched and continuously tunable resonant frequency is acquired. For a satisfactory rf-dc isolation without using bias Tee, a simple dc bias circuit for the varactor diodes is devised. For verification, the proposed antenna is designed, fabricated, and tested, and its performance is compared to other frequencytunable ZOR antennas. Limited by the capacitance tuning range of the varactor diodes at hand, the operating frequency of the prototype antenna is tunable only from 2.54 GHz to 2.78 GHz as the dc bias voltage is changed from 0 to 10 V. The proposed radiated element consists of three split rings,i.e., the feeding ring, the main radiated ring, and the parasitic ring. In virtue of hybrid magnetic-electric coupling between the three split rings, a wide frequency band (2.2 GHz - 4.7 GHz), compact size (50 mm $times50.7$ mm) can be achieved by a single antenna. After that, a MIMO antenna consisting of four radiators is constructed and the distance between the nearest elements is only 5 mm. The minimum electrical length is λ0 (λ0 is the wavelength of the lowest resonance). The four transmission poles TP<inf>1</inf>, TP<inf>2</inf>, TP<inf>3</inf> and TP<inf>4</inf> are located at 26.5GHz, 29.3GHz, 32.6GHz and 35.9GHz, respectively. By applying a bias voltage between the metamaterial and the ptype silicon layer, more than 60% modulation depth is achieved for TP<inf>1</inf>, TP<inf>2</inf> and TP<inf>3</inf>, the modulation depth for TP<inf>4</inf> is 54.5%. The presented antenna, fabricated on $mathrm{a}30 times 20 times1.6$ mm$^{mathbf{3}}$ FR4 dielectric, exhibits a measured S}$_{mathbf{11}} quad le$-10 dB bandwidth from 2.39 GHz to 3.56 GHz; within this bandwidth, a gain larger than 0.6 dBi is found. MWI suffers from low spatial resolution for accurate diagnosis, while MTAI is unable to provide quantitative dielectric information and its image quality degrades due to acoustic heterogeneity of breast tissue. To compensate for these drawbacks, we propose a microwave-based dual imaging modality, by combining the conventional MWI and MTAI, for breast tumor detection. First, a low-resolution MWI image will be utilized to provide a rough estimate of the high-dielectric region in breast. Then, the high-dielectric region will be incorporated in MTAI reconstruction to mitigate the acoustic heterogeneity effect. Finally, medical images with ultrasonic resolution and quantitative dielectric information of breast tissue can be ob- tained. We verified this idea by imaging anatomically realistic numerical breast phantoms.
