The strongly absorbed light by the nanoparticles is followed by converted efficiently into thermal energy to kill harmed cells without affecting the surrounding healthy cells. In this paper, gold nanoparticles (NPs) are prepared and investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive x-ray (EDX), UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Experimental results are analyzed to obtain four different sensors designs. The reflection coefficient S11 and absorption of each design are introduced as a measure for the back scattering of the different structures. The High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) is used to compare between results. Results show that design 2 has the minimum reflection coefficient (S11= −45.1 dB) at resonance frequency= 820THz which in IR region.","PeriodicalId":197824,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Japan-Africa Conference on Electronics, Communications and Computations (JAC-ECC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128509168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Channel assembling techniques are effective, particularly for multimedia applications that require higher spectrum bandwidth for better quality. In this paper, a channel assembling strategy is proposed and investigated using a continuous time Markov chain model, within the existence of heterogeneous traffics: elastic and real-time. The proposed strategy aims at enhancing the performance of the real-time traffic. Higher priority is assigned to that real-time traffic which enables interrupting elastic traffic if the number of channels to be assembled is not available. Moreover, an arriving primary user to a full system interrupts the elastic traffic firstly. Numerical results show a significant improvement in the real-time traffic capacity and blocking probability. The main effect on the elastic traffic appears in the forced termination probability.","PeriodicalId":197824,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Japan-Africa Conference on Electronics, Communications and Computations (JAC-ECC)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128704324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, published works on detecting primary users' signals presented sustainable results by using small compression ratios over the AWGN channel. To the best of our knowledge, since the performance of compressed measurements based detection has not been investigated yet over fading channels, the current study, therefore, presents the performance of compressed measurements based energy detection over Rayleigh fading channel. The proposed work has been implemented by means of MATLAB software. In comparison with the traditional compressed energy detection over the Rayleigh fading channel, the results show that our proposed technique is better in detection performance.","PeriodicalId":197824,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Japan-Africa Conference on Electronics, Communications and Computations (JAC-ECC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130746260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It consists of graphene patches deposited on silicon oxide substrate arranged horizontally and vertically to act as a ME-antenna. The reconfigurable conductivity of graphene is used to control the operating bandwidth of the antenna. The single element has an impedance matching bandwidth of 78.3 % with circular polarized band of 61.2% for applying chemical potential, µc=2 eV. The effect of changing the graphene reconfigurable conductivity on the radiation characteristics of the ME-antenna is investigated. The operating bandwidth is controlled by proper biasing the graphene sheet. The peak gain and the antenna efficiency are increased with increasing the chemical potential value due to the increase in graphene conductivity. The mutual coupling between ME-antenna elements is investigated for linear and circular arrangements. Octagonal array consists of 8-similar elements are constructed to produce electronic beam switching in different directions. Single beam, dual-beams, and omni-directional beam are achieved by controlling the graphene conductivity of single, two, and all the ME-elements in the array.","PeriodicalId":197824,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Japan-Africa Conference on Electronics, Communications and Computations (JAC-ECC)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130304465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design of an operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) to meet a set of specifications is a non-trivial task that requires analog design expertise and time consuming simulations. In this paper, we present a systematic and automated design flow for the most popular integrated circuit OTA architecture, namely, the folded cascode OTA. The design procedure is customized for using the OTA in a fully-differential switched capacitor amplifier application. The presented design flow uses the gm/ID methodology and is automated using MAT-LAB. The OTA transistor sizing is computed using a nested iterative procedure. The design procedure takes into account the effect of several circuit parameters that have no closed form solutions, without invoking a simulation engine inside the loop. A complete design example is illustrated and verified using Cadence Spectre simulator.","PeriodicalId":197824,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Japan-Africa Conference on Electronics, Communications and Computations (JAC-ECC)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127387595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A defected ground plane with a rectangular radiating patch fed by a microstrip-line is manipulated to operate in the unlicensed V-band. A circular aperture in the ground plane is utilized to enhance the impedance bandwidth up to 15.12% ranges from 55 to 64 GHz to be suitable for industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) broadband applications. The proposed antenna parameters are analyzed extensively in order to achieve optimal operation in the desired frequency band. The proposed antenna is fabricated and tested. The experimental data of the fabricated prototype in terms of the reflection coefficient, show good agreement with the simulated results. The proposed design shows good radiation characteristics of average gain 6.5 dBi over the entire operating band. These features make the proposed antenna suitable candidate for mm-wave applications.","PeriodicalId":197824,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Japan-Africa Conference on Electronics, Communications and Computations (JAC-ECC)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123834240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An MLC improves the density of PCM, but the endurance is a critical issue. To extend the lifetime of the cell, a slow-write approach is one of the techniques that is used. However, the slow-write approach increases the program execution time because it takes a long time. In this paper, we discuss three types of slow-write approach for MLC and evaluate the endurance and performance quantitatively to understand the effectiveness of our approach. Our evaluation results show that one of the approaches enhances the endurance of MLC PCM 1.57 times with a 1.41 % performance degradation on average compared with the conventional write operation.","PeriodicalId":197824,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Japan-Africa Conference on Electronics, Communications and Computations (JAC-ECC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133131295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed SIW reflectarray antenna has advantages in compact size, easy fabrication and high gain and reduces the size of the antenna. The unit-cell element consists of the dielectric block with four drilled holes and array of metallic pins on both sides. The SIW metallic pins reduce the total dimensions of the unit-cell element by 40% compared to that of the conventional cell. A peak gain of 23.7 dBi is achieved by side lobe level of 19.7 dB beneath the primary lobe. To overcome the blocking effect in the reflectarray operation due to the presence of the feeding horn in the same direction with the reflected beam, the SIW trasmitarray is designed. It consists of 13×13 unit-cell elements with the metallic pins arranged on the two sides of each unit-cell element. A high gain of 24.22 dBi, with I-dB gain bandwidth of 15.18% is achieved. The finite integration technique is used to analyze the perforated SIW reflectarray Itransmitarray.","PeriodicalId":197824,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Japan-Africa Conference on Electronics, Communications and Computations (JAC-ECC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124864608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
