Ingredients of concrete include cement, sand and aggregates. Cement production is associated with CO2 emission and green house emission issues. Availability of sand and aggregate is also creating serious issue these days. Handling of concrete required technical expertise and day to day research advancements are made to solve issues related to concrete being weak in tensile strength. Weakness is concrete can be mitigated by adding fibers which help to improve tensile strength of concrete. Fibers are available in the form of waste polythene, discarded rubber tyres of automobiles, etc. Polymer fibers can provide better strength. It increases ductility and reduces deflection in large concrete members of structure. In current work, Polythene and rubber tyres were cut down to fine fibers and added in concrete as replacement to cement in different incremental percentages. M30 grade of concrete was prepared. M30 and above grade concrete are generally utilized in construction of industrial flooring. Different tests performed on polymer fiber induced concrete revealed that it can be suitably used as substitute to normal M30 concrete for temperature and impact resistant flooring construction.","PeriodicalId":19674,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Science and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84492138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The imbalance between academic curriculum and soft skills can also affect the quality of student teachers. A pilot study was also conducted to identify the level of mastery of soft skills (critical thinking and problem solving skills) of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) student teachers through learning Computer Aided Design (CAD) course using a self-developed profile. Thus, the aim of this study was to validate the developed profile. A quantitative method was employed where questionnaires were distributed for data collection. 37 TVET student teachers were involved in this study. Descriptive statistics using statistical packages for the social science version 25.0 (SPSS version 25.0) were adopted for data analyses. The value of cronbach alpha obtained for the instrument used was 0.974 which was considered high. In addition, the Kappa value obtained was 0.972, indicating a very good agreement from the 3 experts. The findings revealed that participants’ mean scores for critical thinking and problem solving skills were 3.439 and 3.437 respectively which revealed that the student teachers were having moderate levels of soft skills. Hence, this study is important and relevant in helping to validate the instrument developed that can be utilised by the lecturers to gain  feedback on the mastery level of soft skills among TVET student teachers. Besides, the findings of this study can be implemented for TVET student teachers at other Teachers Training Institute or other institutions.","PeriodicalId":19674,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Science and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77908599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a well-known, state of the art technique, in which the frequently seen symbols are encoded with fewer bits than rarely seen symbols. It has been widely used since last four decades. Many researchers worked on it to improve its performance and they successfully experimented with it. This technique has also been in use in combination with other techniques to gain surprising results. In this survey paper, an effort is made to recap a number of accomplishments from 1976 to 2017 regarding Arithmetic Coding. This study provides an insight for new researchers to know how this technique evolved with time and how major achievements were made using this technique. This paper gives a comparison of AC with another well-known technique named Huffman Coding. Comparison with its contemporary counterparts shows that it is better in performance almost in every situation.","PeriodicalId":19674,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Science and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73693423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study shows how to calculate the radiation pattern for a wraparound microstrip antenna by solving the integral equation of the electric and magnetic fields. The modelling has been done by representing the body with regular geometrical shape such as a Body of Revolution (BoR). The wraparound microstrip antenna is considered as a conducing cylinder patch which be uniformly coated around a lossless dielectric having dielectric constant. Both are substrates around a conducing cylinder as ground patch. Analytically the prediction results have been calculated using the Method of Moment (MoM). It is worth noting that these predictions are in a good qualitative agreement with previous studies. We also has been examined the case involving two simultaneous patches using the electromagnetic boundary conditions to solve the differential and integral equations. These types of antennas are used in many applications such as medical, military as in the rockets, etc.","PeriodicalId":19674,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Science and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88554451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Cloud Data Centers (CDCs), an important research issue is how to forecast and allocate resources efficiently whilst achieving Quality of Service (QoS) of users request with minimal overall power consumption; taking into account the frequent changes in resource requirements. In this paper, we propose a Supervisor Controller-based Software-Defined Cloud Data Center (SC-boSD-CDC) framework for dynamic resource allocation and prediction of cloud computing-based SDN. In this proposed module, Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed to deal with the multi-objective problem of dynamically forecasting the utilization of resources in both compute nodes and links bandwidth of network as well as energy consumption in the Cloud Data Center (CDC).  Furthermore, a Virtual Machines (VMs) placement algorithm is also proposed to allocate computing resources and routing algorithms to choose the proper bandwidth links between switches; resulting in increased CPU and memory utilization and reduction in overall power consumption.","PeriodicalId":19674,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Science and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90796018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general, textile antennas are microstrip antenna where the substrate is a textile material. Commercially, a variety of textile materials available these days, and the properties of these textiles have an impact on the characteristics and performance of an antenna. Normally, textile materials present a very low dielectric constant which is required for an efficient antenna. Nevertheless, textile fabrics are porous, anisotropic, and compressible materials whose thickness and density alters with low pressure affecting the electromagnetic properties of the material. The features of the textile materials were believed to impact the behavior of the antenna, hence this study shows minimal research highlighted on the differences of textile material properties. This review paper summarizes different types of antenna with their applications, essential antenna parameters, and the textile material used for the construction of the wearable textile antenna. This literature review guides to reveal the various considerations for designing wearable antenna from different textile materials. Lastly, several open recommendations are given for further guidance for future studies.","PeriodicalId":19674,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Science and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84475552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Numerical integration involving quadratic element as well as linear element for polarization tensor approximation will be presented. Here, we used different positions of an object of fixed size and conductivity when computing the first order polarization tensor. From the numerical results of computed first order polarization tensor, the convergence for every translation is observed. Moreover, discretization of the geometric objects into triangular meshes was done by using meshing software called NETGEN mesh generator while for the numerical computation, MATLAB software was used. We found that the translation has no effect on the approximated first order PT for sphere and cube after we have computed the first order PT for both geometries with a few center of masses. The numerical results of approximated first order polarization tensor is plotted by comparing the numerical results with analytical solution provided.","PeriodicalId":19674,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Science and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89690796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These slots are annular ring and rectangular shapes in different sizes. The annular ring slot is etched inside the circular patch while the other two rectangular slots are etched on the circular patch edge. The suggested antennas are simulated using version 13 of Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS). The various parameters such as input impedance, reflection coefficient, gain, radiation patterns and surface currents were investigated. The present results observed that the optimum antenna designed is resonating at three frequencies 2.695, 5.799 and 8.323 GHz. Also, the bandwidths of simulated reflection coefficients at -10 dB are 106, 204 and 371 MHz which are identical with the S-, C- and X-bands frequencies, respectively. Therefore, the optimum antenna designed can be used in the space saving applications in addition to its important role in variety applications at these three frequency bands.","PeriodicalId":19674,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Science and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80833319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
