Using various indicia, the study identifies and proffers explanation why the country continues to face surmountable challenges in its pursuit towards achieving sustainable development. To attain this objective, a broad review of published literature was employed using various journal articles, textbooks, internet sources, etc. \u0000Methodology: The study adopts a qualitative research methodology in the interpretation of data. These data are both primary and secondary derived from laws, text books, journal articles, reports, working papers and other internet sources. This study adopts an analytical approach in the interpretation of the available data. \u0000Findings: The study observes that irrespective of existence of deterrent penal laws, policy formulations from international organization and support from foreign donor institutions, the country is not yet on the path towards sustainably sound environmental practices. Cameroon is engulf in a number of challenges both internal and external, which has accounted for continuous impoverishment of its population, social progress and economic advancement of the country generally. The Study employs the post-colonial and dependency theories of development to justify some of the key findings. The internal challenges revealed in the study ranges from the continuous prevalence of poverty and hunger, corruption and misappropriation, lack of judicial independence, the prevalence of conflicts, environmental degradation and poor enforcement measures. Similarly, this study also found the underlying external challenges to include the Structural Adjustment Programmes, the influence of Foreign Financial Institutions, and neo-colonialism. \u0000Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: This study therefore concludes that strengthening enforcement measures, effective implementation of poverty alleviation policies, fight against corruption and misappropriation, and citizen participation can positive contribute to sustainable development in the Cameroon.

Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. \u0000Findings: The study revealed a complex relationship characterized by mixed outcomes. While some agricultural investments contribute positively to food security by enhancing productivity, improving infrastructure, and generating income opportunities, others can lead to land grabbing, displacement of local communities, and resource degradation, exacerbating food insecurity. The effectiveness of investments in enhancing food security hinges on factors such as the type of investment, local contexts, and policy frameworks, emphasizing the need for carefully designed and context-specific investment strategies to ensure sustainable and equitable food security outcomes. \u0000Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Theory of Agricultural Transformation, Structural Transformation and Sustainable Agriculture Theory may be used to anchor future studies on Agricultural investment and food security. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. \u0000Findings: The study's findings highlighted that microfinance has a mixed impact on household poverty levels. While treated households experienced increased income, consumption, and investment, overall poverty reduction remained modest. Notably, the positive effects were more pronounced for households with pre-existing entrepreneurial skills. The relationship between microfinance and women's empowerment was complex, as these programs had varying impacts on income generation and decision-making among women. Furthermore, group-based microcredit programs led to improved household welfare for both genders, with females experiencing more significant poverty reductions. \u0000Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Financial Inclusion Theory and Social Capital Theory may be used to anchor future studies on Microfinance impact on household poverty levels. FDI is linked to higher economic growth rates, driven by its infusion of capital, technology, and market access. This influx of investment creates jobs in host countries, particularly in labor-intensive sectors, effectively reducing unemployment and improving living standards. Additionally, FDI promotes technology transfer and innovation, enhancing the competitiveness of domestic industries. Furthermore, FDI's positive spillover effects extend to human capital development through skill training and improved employability, leading to higher wages and overall poverty reduction. These findings underscore FDI's multifaceted role in fostering sustainable economic growth and social progress. \u0000Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Dependency Theory and Resource-Based may be used to anchor future studies on Foreign Direct Investment. Investment Promotion Agencies should establish effective investment promotion agencies to attract quality FDI, offering incentives, streamlined regulations, and investor support services. Stringent environmental regulations should be enforced to prevent FDI from causing negative environmental externalities and promote sustainable development practices.

Adequate infrastructure enhances productivity, reduces transaction costs, and promotes economic activity. Well-developed transportation, energy, and communication systems boost trade competitiveness, attracting foreign investments and fostering global integration. Access to basic infrastructure services aids poverty reduction and inclusive growth by providing employment opportunities and market access, particularly in rural areas.
