This study adopted a contingency perspective to examine the relationships between two variables(information integration and formalization) and product advantage. To verify the validity of the research framework, it was empirically tested by a Korean sample. The hypotheses were tested using a mediated hierarchical regression analysis. By examining the mediating effects of knowledge sharing and technological learning on the relationships between two variables(information integration and formalization) and product advantage, the results show that the impact of information integration on product advantages is attributed to knowledge sharing and technological learning (complete mediation). In addition, the research also shows that the impact of formalization on product advantages is attributed to knowledge sharing and technological learning (partial mediation).","PeriodicalId":194082,"journal":{"name":"Korea Association for International Commerce and Information","volume":"174 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116090337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IPR play a significant role in high-tech industries, influencing technological innovation, technology transfer, international trade, and overall economic growth through various channels. The objective of this research is to analyze the impact of research and development (R&D) capabilities and the strength of IPR protection on the export performance of high-tech industries. Data from 87 countries worldwide, covering the period from 2013 to 2020, are utilized for the analysis. The findings indicate that countries with higher R&D capabilities tend to have stronger protection for intellectual property. Moreover, the study reveals that a higher level of IPR protection, rather than R&D capabilities alone, positively influences the export of high-tech industries. Additionally, the study shows that larger countries and those with higher degrees of openness experience increased exports in the high-tech industry sector. To enhance international competitiveness in high-tech industries, the study suggests that strengthening R&D capabilities is crucial. Accumulating intellectual property rights through this process is essential, as it indirectly contributes to promoting the export of high-tech industries. While R&D capabilities may not have a direct impact on export performance, they have a positive effect on the accumulation of intellectual property, which, in turn, leads to increased exports in the sector.","PeriodicalId":194082,"journal":{"name":"Korea Association for International Commerce and Information","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133064194","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since transactions under already established supply chains still account for a significant portion of trade in the perspective of firms, based on diagnosis and objective understanding of the current status, efforts are required to actively respond to changes in the global economic-security and industrial environment. Therefore, this study analyzes the current status of GVC, focusing on the electronics and automobile industries, which are the main industries that contribute the most to Korea's domestic value-added exports, and summarizes the implications related to GVC restructuring to respond to the changing trade environment. \u0000This study uses ICIO (2021), the most up-to-date data as of 2023, to analyze the results of value-added export decomposition of Korea's main export industries, electronics and automobiles. The results show that the performance of subsidiaries is higher than that of independent firms when cultural distance is not taken into account. However, when the cultural distances between home and host countries is considered, subsidiaries are more negatively affected by cultural distances than independent firms in terms of overall cultural distance and power distance (PDI), individualism (IDV), and masculinity (MAS). This finding suggests that the flexibility in responding and adjusting independent firms to local cultures with operational autonomy positively contributes to the mitigation of liability of foreignness incurred by cultural distances, and thus provides practical implications for internationalizing firms in seeking efficient strategies to cope with liabilities of internationalization.","PeriodicalId":194082,"journal":{"name":"Korea Association for International Commerce and Information","volume":"179 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116171638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, Indonesia is emerging as an important overseas market for Korean food companies due to the continued growth of the food industry. Therefore, this study derived a marketing strategy to strengthen the market competitiveness of K-Food in Indonesia using the SWOT-AHP analysis method. As a result of deriving strategic priorities based on the importance of all factors, the most important strategy was the WO strategy. This strategy takes into account the lack of K-Food’s unique brand image(W4) and the high interest in Hallyu and K-Food(O1) at the same time. This strategy requires a way to actively utilize K-Food’s market opportunities triggered by high interest in the Hallyu and to provide pride and fun to consumers who want to enjoy the unique taste and cultural value of K-Food. This study is expected to help prepare marketing strategies to strengthen K-Food’s competitiveness in the Indonesian market and improve the performance of Korean food companies. The expansion of trade allows access to key goods and services such as food and health, as well as the technologies necessary to minimize the negative impacts of climate change, reduce the negative impacts of climate change, and respond appropriately to changes in comparative advantage. Each country should implement comprehensive climate change response measures, such as strengthening its logistics networks, diversifying production, suppliers and customers, and investing in long-term human capital. At the same time, it is necessary to help low-income developing countries respond to climate change and enhance the resilience of the world economy to climate change through cooperation between countries in trade and climate change response policies.","PeriodicalId":194082,"journal":{"name":"Korea Association for International Commerce and Information","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123171372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, the heterogeneous impact on the export size of uncertainty variables from January 2000 to December 2022 are examined using the nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) and quantile regressions (QR) methods. The estimation results of the NARDL model showed that the energy storage system (ESS) was most affected by uncertainty variables in both the short- and long-run, followed by fuel cells, oceans, smart meters, and solar and wind power. Meanwhile, the results of the NARDL asymmetry analysis showed that uncertainty variables in both the short- and long-run had the greatest asymmetric effect on fuel cells and smart meters. Additionally, the QR empirical results according to the RX size show that increasing the ROP, decreasing the REER, and increasing the REER volatility have a significant impact on the small RX size. However, decreasing the ROP and REER have a significant impact on the large RX size. Policy authorities should apply trade and exchange rate policies in an optimal combination to reduce the impact of ROP volatility on the RX in the NRE sector while considering REER volatility. Additionally, exporters in the NRE industry should seek to improve quality competitiveness through high-tech development and hedge strategies using internal and external management techniques to minimize the impact of price volatility on the RX of NRE Industry.","PeriodicalId":194082,"journal":{"name":"Korea Association for International Commerce and Information","volume":"259 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116069258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Creating a sustainable business environment that can promote open innovation is important for enhancing the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises. This study investigate the process in which innovation capacity possessed by SMEs affects open innovation and export performance. It is expected that innovation capacity directly affects open innovation and export performance of companies, and open innovation will have an indirect effect mediating innovation capacity and export performance. In particular, in the process of innovation deriving corporate performance, we tried to demonstrate how sustainable social factors that companies have with external organizations affect innovation-related variables. Using 2020 manufacturing data from STEPI's 'Korean Innovation Survey (KIS)', an empirical analysis was conducted on the survey results of a total of 930 small and medium-sized manufacturers. The relationship between innovativeness, open innovation and export performance was analyzed, and the role of sustainable social factors was verified. It was confirmed that the innovative capabilities possessed by SMEs directly or indirectly had a significant impact on their export performance, and that sustainable social activities facilitated the cooperation process between companies and internal and external stakeholders more smoothly.
