Current coverage of normative documents is insufficient in the context of lighting unregulated pedestrian crossings; also, measurement and evaluation of the lighting parameters on crossings have been poorly covered. This paper focuses on the measurement and analysis of light parameters. Lighting was surveyed with a contemporary photographic measuring method, which enables us to define light technical parameters more effectively, to evaluate modern LED lighting and to apply safer solutions. Surveys were made on the crossroads with new LED-based lighting solutions; light-technical parameters are recommended and new solutions for safer lighting solutions on pedestrian crossings were developed.","PeriodicalId":192943,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 59th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131986495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The applications of drones in the smart city will involve multiple drone platforms that operate simultaneously to run missions. Therefore, the safe and secure environment for drones' operational quality and stability is necessary. It is also essential for governments to implement regulations to enforce safe security standards and disallow the implementation of weak cybersecurity measures in live environments. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) predicted that 30,000 drones could be flying in U.S. skies in less than 20 years.The investigation of the drone traffic safety and development of the intelligent transportation system needs drone-following models, which describes the one-by-one following process of drones in the traffic flow. There are two types of drone-following models that are proposed and discussed in this paper. The first models based on the principle that keeps a safe distance according to relative velocity, which based on the determining of the drone acceleration depending on the differences in speeds and gaps between the given drone and its leading drone. Another model is the Markov drone-following model which is improved model based on the approximation of the stochastic diffusion process of speed decision. The simulation results show that the changes in velocities of the following drones are nearly the same as leading one.","PeriodicalId":192943,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 59th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117006351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of research was to obtain practical mathematical algorithms to optimize the probability of cracks/breaks of the mechanical system by impact erosion wear. Probability of failure concept and its mathematical formulation are developed to set algorithms for lifetime determination of mechanical systems .In other words, to prevent unexpected mechanical failures by severe damage of mechanical parts that could lead to power plant stops for repair. Firstable, the article presents the fundamental formulation/mathematical-definitions for lifetime determination and probability of failure of a mechanical system—with focus on further applications for Integral Differential model. Subsequently, a series of modeling optimization and simulations are shown with Gaussian models and stochastic ones. Methods applied in programming are outlined in brief and software development is explained. Formal results are a group of Bayesian formulas, computational graphs and numerical database charts to support the initial hypotheses and mathematical framework. Practical engineering-tribological consequences for optimal operation of power plants derive from the basics of the study.","PeriodicalId":192943,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 59th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126433319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three types of customer groups were considered: summer cottages, free-standing energy houses and a camping site. Approximated consumption time series based on measured data and simulated time series data for wind and solar production based on rigorous statistical modelling were used to make a sober assessment of the viability of the scenarios. It transpired that, based on 2016 costs for the solar-only option, and 2017 costs for the solar and wind option, that it is more economical to make a 7 km MV feeder connection to a primary substation than invest in the backup generation and storage necessary to provide supply to even the summer-only demand scenarios. The methodology is outlined with reference to full reports available online.","PeriodicalId":192943,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 59th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126059317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The realization of AC-DC distribution network has become more rational with the increase in renewable generations and DC electronic loads. There are numerous technical advantages of using DC power in conjunction with AC power in distribution systems. But for widespread utilization of AC-DC distribution network, the economic impact of aforementioned technology on the affiliated customers needs to be inspected. Distribution use of system (DUoS) charges is an eminent means for scrutinizing the economics related to an AC-DC distribution system in transferring power to its associated users. This article presents a MW+MVAr-Miles methodology for DUoS charges calculation. The proposed network pricing mechanism reward the users working at better power factors and efficiently utilizing the network, while forfeiting those who don’t. As a result, the proposed pricing model encourages users to act in a manner for the betterment of the system condition. The aforesaid analysis will enables to realize the economic benefits or detriments of an AC-DC distribution system in distributing power to customers.","PeriodicalId":192943,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 59th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134549110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different calculation methods are beginning to appear in the area to monitor operation conditions. One such method is state estimation (SE). The current power system model is necessary for most of calculations. These models should be three-phase to simulate usymmetrical operation conditions. Taking into consideration that DN have a large scale and a lot of control objects, and some of their equipment does not have state signals, model information updating is difficult task for topology processor. Consequently, some equipment in the current model may be in a wrong state. Thus, topology errors analysis is of crucial importance for DN. There is the method that utilized SE results for checking of network element states. It based on normalizing residuals analysis and can be apply to positive sequence power system models. The method does not affect the SE duration, since it can be performed on an individual computer. The paper proposes modified topology error processing for three-phase power system models. It can be employed for errors detection and identification in DN equipment state.","PeriodicalId":192943,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 59th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"228 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115591411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the amount of energy generated from renewable sources has increased it raised new challenges to energy system Renewable energy power generation is more complicated to control and it can have a technical impact in main grid components such as power transformers. All electrical energy system is most effective when used in constant working mode. Renewable energy resources are hard to predict and also their energy generation is very unstable. Lifetime of the power transformers used in alternating regime is lower than the ones used in stable load. Renewable energy is new solution in electrical energy systems and their impact to grid and it elements need to be studied and decreased.","PeriodicalId":192943,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 59th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116525209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
