Two energy-aware task scheduling algorithms called the EHEFT and the ECPOP are proposed to address the challenge. These algorithms have the objective of trying to sustain the makespan and energy consumption at the same time. The concept is to use a metric that identify the inefficient processors and shut them down to reduce energy consumption. Then, the task is rescheduled to use fewer processors to obtain more energy efficiency. The experimental results from the simulation show that our enhanced algorithms not only reduce the energy consumption, but also maintain a good quality of the scheduling. This will enable the efficient use of the cloud system as a large scalable computing platform.","PeriodicalId":191620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Computer Science and Engineering Conference (ICSEC)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123330289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When a sensor node receives more than one packet at the same time, these packets are termed collided, even when they coincide only partially. A solution is scheduling the packets before sending. The scheduling algorithm named SCGA (Set Covering Problem with Greedy Algorithm) is therefore introduced to solve this problem. The NS-2 is used for SCGA evaluation the network performance in this paper. There are three performance metrics: packet collision rate, throughput and end-to-end delay, are compared with simple CSMA/CA mechanism on standard benchmarks. Even though, throughput from both mechanism are not difference significantly when they are compared with statistical method, but SCGA decreases packet collision rate and clearly decrease end-to-end delay better than simple CSMA/CA mechanism.","PeriodicalId":191620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Computer Science and Engineering Conference (ICSEC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121827513","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If the developers have a good tool, it can help them develop system faster and more accurate. This paper proposed the Online Code Editor that was created for programmers or developers who want to write programs without any platform requirements or without any specific physical computers. It bases on web application running on the Private cloud computing. The features of the editor are performed on web programming languages, e.g. HTML, PHP, CSS, and JavaScript. The editor is able to isolate programming languages by highlighting syntax of programs. Users can create new projects and files, import and export files that they want on a server. Moreover, Save, Auto save, Delete, and etc. are the additional functions of the editor. In this research of the text editor development, the open source software called, “Ace” was used for some functions such as Undo, Redo, and Syntax highlight. The experimental results indicated that the proposed editor can be practically used on Private cloud computing. Moreover, the comparison of the features among the proposed editor running on Private cloud, Notepad++, and EditPlus which running on personal computers, was summarized.","PeriodicalId":191620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Computer Science and Engineering Conference (ICSEC)","volume":"12 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124162637","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using multiple cameras from different angles gives a more complete whole body; however, more required steps are needed in combining multiple skeletons into one final skeleton. One camera is used as a reference for the other cameras to transform their coordinates into the reference camera's coordinate system. Once every view is in the same coordinate, one skeleton is able to be composed. Due to camera's sensory errors, nevertheless, the supposedly same joint of the skeleton, which is obtained from the transformations, may not be exactly located at the same position. Therefore, average joints are used for the composed skeleton. The skeleton is then used to analyze the walking posture of a human subject in order to check whether or not the walking is balanced.","PeriodicalId":191620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Computer Science and Engineering Conference (ICSEC)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124410078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In country like India, people are permitted to carry and present photocopied documents to avoid damages to the original documents. But this provision is misused for temporary benefits by fabricating fake photocopied documents. Fabrication of fake photocopied document is possible only in 2nd and higher recursive order of photocopies. Whenever a photocopied document is submitted in place of original document, it may be required to check its originality. When the document is 1st order photocopy, chances of fabrication can be ignored. On the other hand when the photocopy recursive order is 2 or above, probability of fabrication may be suspected. Hence when a photocopied document is presented instead of original document, the recursive order number of photocopy is to be estimated to ascertain the originality. This requirement demands to investigate a method to estimate order number of photocopy. It is noticed that the degradation in photocopy obtained increases as the recursive order of photocopy increases. Considering the degradation as a feature in this work, a method based on entropy from gray level co-occurrence matrix is proposed to estimate the recursive order number of the photocopied document through computing degradation rate. A detailed experimentation is performed on a generated data set and the method exhibits efficiency close to 95%.","PeriodicalId":191620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Computer Science and Engineering Conference (ICSEC)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131331959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To avoid such limitation, several spherical SOM which use lattices of the tessellated icosahedron have been proposed. However, existing data structures for such SOMs are either not space efficient or are time consuming when searching the neighborhood. We introduce a Competitive Radial Basis Function Network (CRBFN) to reduce the computation time for updating the weight on grid. Relationships of each record are maintained by their positions in the data structure rather than by immediate neighbor pointers or an adjacency list. Because of introducing CRBFN, increasing the number of neurons can be reduced. Experiments show that the spherical SOM using our data structure runs with comparable speed to the conventional 2 dimensional SOM. In addition, a heuristic method for discovering the characteristics of personality from social data is proposed in this paper. An advantage on calculating time from ordinary algorithm for Self-organizing map and example of application for socio-data is shown. Visualizing such socio-data, the fundamental method to obtain a personal behavior trajectory is proposed.","PeriodicalId":191620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Computer Science and Engineering Conference (ICSEC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132572846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It executes computer programs to produce series of images which will be sequenced into a movie. However, rendering process on a single machine can be tedious, time-consuming and unproductive, especially for 3D animation. To resolve these problems, animation rendering is commonly carried out in a distributed computing environment where the rendering is distributed to a number of computers. As a result, efficient handling of such distributed animation rendering becomes a major challenging research to increase performance and reduce cost for numerous animation industries. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of BitTorrent File System (BTFS) used to improve the communication performance of distributed animation rendering. The BTFS efficiently and transparently provides data sharing among distributed computers in a peer-to-peer manner to reduce the data access time for any rendering software. The experimental results and evaluation are verified as a proof-of-concept of our architecture. Some interesting future enhancement is also discussed.","PeriodicalId":191620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Computer Science and Engineering Conference (ICSEC)","volume":"231 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127872797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The EEG artifacts derived from ocular and muscular activities are inevitable and unpredictable due to subject's physical conditions. Consequently, the removal of these artifacts is a crucial function for BCI applications to make the system more robust. One of the most prominent techniques employed to remove the EEG artifacts is Independent Component Analysis (ICA). This technique separates EEG signals into Independent Components (ICs) and then discriminates EEG artifacts from neurally generated brain signals. However, the source separation of ICA algorithm is imperfect. Frequently, the IC identified to be an artifact includes brain wave activities useful for data classification. The proposed method will elaborate on the IC with Lifting Wavelet Transform (LWT) to extract the useful neural signals from the artifact component. Experimental results prove the performance and accuracy of the proposed removal algorithm of light and strong eye-blink artifacts. This removal technique implemented in NECTEC's Neurofeedback System for Attention Training was tested in pre-trial sessions with 10 healthy subjects and 5 MCI patients at Chulalongkorn Hospital, Bangkok.","PeriodicalId":191620,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Computer Science and Engineering Conference (ICSEC)","volume":"280 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121041078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
