To accomplish this objective, the series active filter is forced to inject the appropriate voltage to the line through a series connected transformer. The active filter is capable to reduce the total harmonic distortion of the AC mains from 11% to 4%, and it presents a fast response velocity. Important benefits as high efficiency and multi-output capability are obtained. With the proposed converter it is possible to drive all synchronous rectifiers through the gate voltage waveforms obtained from only one additional winding. The premature failures of the insulating materials are often attributed to the existence of partial discharges (PD) in the winding. Nevertheless, a clear evidence of PD existence in such systems is far from being established. Due to the voltage waveforms, their location is not in the turn-to-ground or phase-to-phase insulation but in the turn-to-turn insulation and the classical AC test is no longer applicable. High- precision rotor poison signal can be obtained through proper processing although a discrete Hall sensor only give the rough position information with the resolution of /spl plusmn/90 electrical degrees. The conversion and compensation of the rotor position signal based on phase locked loop (PLL) are analyzed. The drive system of a 30000 rpm high-speed PM synchronous motors is designed with this method. The current harmonics in the high-speed PM synchronous motor is analyzed. The dead-time compensation technology is applied to reduce the current harmonics. Experiments are carried out to validate the proposed method. The harmonics in the stator current are restrained evidently. Using delayed turn-off times, the circuit breaker can be coordinated with lower level protection gear. Hence, a high availability of the grid can be guaranteed. However, during a short-circuit a significant voltage sag can be noticed locally in the medium voltage grid. Sensitive loads such as computers will fail even when voltage returns within a few seconds. The proposed semiconductor circuit breaker is able to switch fast enough to keep voltage disturbance within acceptable limits. A flyback DC-DC regulator is employed to convert the solar power to voltage suitable for charging the RAM battery in cellular phone application. Two tests, namely discharge-recharge and heat-effect are carried out. It was found that the battery can be suitably used for analogue cellular phones. However the battery is not suitable for digital cellular phone because the current discharge rate is not sufficient. This paper presents a procedure for extracting the most important parameters to be used in IGBT models with physical background by electrical measurements. Main applications are related with motion control in isolated power systems. Field acceleration method and feedback linearization control techniques of the motion system are presented. The control algorithm contains a nonlinear identification scheme that asymptotically tracks the true values of the rotor resistance.
