The problem in this research is the increasing prevalence of wasting under five over the last three years in West Aceh Regency one of which is in Meureubo and Kaway Districts, direct surveys conducted by researchers in the field show that maternal education is still relatively low, knowledge is lacking, attitudes are indifferent and nutrition for toddlers is not yet met. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal behavior and education with the prevalence of wasting in children under five years old in Meureubo and Kaway XVI sub-districts of West Aceh district. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, using univariate and bivariate analysis, followed by the application of the Fisher's exact test. The total sampling used included the entire population of wasting mothers of toddlers, resulting in a total sample of 41 respondents. The findings showed a statistically significant relationship between maternal knowledge and the prevalence of wasting in children under five (P value = 0.008 ≤ 0.05). Apart from that, there is a significant relationship between mothers who have a negative attitude and the prevalence of wasting in toddlers (P value = 0.005 ≤ 0.05). Apart from that, there is a relationship between poor maternal actions and the prevalence of wasting in toddlers (P value = 0.015 ≤ 0.05). In addition, there was a correlation between maternal education level and the prevalence of wasting in children under five (P value = 0.008 ≤ 0.05). In conclusion, the analysis showed a correlation between maternal knowledge, attitude, and action, as well as a relationship between maternal education level and the prevalence of wasting in children under five years old, as evidenced by a P value ≤ α 0.05. It is recommended that health workers and other relevant stakeholders intensify efforts to socialize and educate mothers to encourage positive behavioral changes in meeting the nutritional needs of toddlers. This initiative aims to improve the nutritional status of toddlers.","PeriodicalId":190996,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Advanced Research and Reports","volume":"21 14","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139000694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The high consumption of baked products prepared wholly from wheat flour can lead to health related challenges such as celiac disease, gluten related allergies, cardiovascular diseases and neurodegenerative disorders. These anomalies can be prevented through the incorporation of sologold sweet potato flour with high antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties into the wheat flour for the production of such baked products. Therefore, it is essential to determine best blend flour quality. The objective of this study is to evaluate the functional, rheological and antioxidant properties of a developed composite wheat-sologold flour for bakery products. Complete randomized design (CRD) was employed and the composite flour properties were determined using the Association of official analytical chemist methods. The result of this study shows that sample B3 is the best blend composite. However, sample A1 had no phenolic and anthocyanin contents while sample A2 had the highest total phenolic (42.4), anthocyanin content (48.5) and reducing power (65.8gFe/gfw) while B1 exhibited the lowest reducing power (18.2gFe/gfw). The optimum blend B3 had total phenolic content of 16.5 mgGAE/100gfw, total anthocyanin content of 12.5 mgCyE/100gfw, DPPH 23.8%, FRAP 27.0 mgFe/gfw, peak viscousity 699.1 RVU, bulk density 0.80 g/ml, water absorption capacity 2.20g/g, oil absorption capacity 1.75g/g, peak time 4.4mins and pasting temperature of 799oC.The peak viscosity, final viscosity and set back values showed a significant decrease with the addition of sologold sweet potato flour which resulted in reduction in swelling. Thus, the composite flour optimum blend from sologold sweet potato is a valuable ingredient for developing healthy and functional baked products that promotes health and well-being.","PeriodicalId":190996,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Advanced Research and Reports","volume":"15 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138598460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Student evaluation of education quality facilitates data-driven decision making in a number of ways. Based on a cross-sectional survey design, a one-time data was collected from 312 students studying in class 9 to class 12, using student evaluation of education quality (SEEQ), developed by Marsh. SEEQ measures students’ perception on learning, teacher’s enthusiasm in teaching, lesson organization, group interaction, individual rapport, breadth or coverage, examinations, assignments, and perceptions about teacher effectiveness.  Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. Results indicated that the participants had a favourable view of education quality, and that there were no significant differences when the data was disaggregated by gender, except for two sub-scales group interaction and individual rapport. Girls had more favourable view of teachers creating greater opportunities for group interaction and individual rapport compared to boys. However, when disaggregated by the marks obtained during the last examinations, the majority of the sub-scales revealed significant differences. It is argued that cultural dispositions may have come into effect, when the students evaluated their teachers. Directions for further research are provided.","PeriodicalId":190996,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Advanced Research and Reports","volume":"22 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139267380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article was geared towards finding out how higher education has developed in both Rwanda and Tanzania in terms of gender and enrolment, inclusive education, government funding, and the marketability of graduates. The review uses Google Scholar to get the information from the different works from different countries regarding the subject. The findings indicated that there is no equity in gender or enrolment in both Tanzania and Rwanda. In both countries, there is a need to encourage females to access higher education without fearing some of the barriers, like getting pregnant and the patriarchal system. Funding students in higher education institutions is a problem for both countries. The need for inclusive education did not suit the government well enough; hence, parents decided to leave their children unschooled. Fresh graduates are advised to be self-employed or develop their qualifications in the education sector to make them more marketable.","PeriodicalId":190996,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Advanced Research and Reports","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132956679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was aimed at examining the reading habits of polytechnic students in order to discover the benefits of reading, hinderances to reading, social media habits and extent of social media influence on reading culture. The study is a descriptive survey research which investigated polytechnic students at the National Diploma and the Higher National Diploma levels in all Federal and State Government owned Polytechnics in Edo and Delta States namely, Auchi Polytechnic (350) National Institute of Construction Technology and Management Uromi (50), Edo State Polytechnic Usen (250), Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku (300), Delta State Polytechnic Otefe-Oghara (300), Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro (250). The structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Research assistants were recruited to assist in the administration of questionnaires on respondents and retrieval of same from them. 1460 completed questionnaires were returned representing 97.3%. Data analysis was done using graphical charts. The findings indicate that majority of the students don’t frequently read as it takes them between 2-6 days before they read at all and the students spend an hour or less each time they read. The greatest benefit they derive from reading is confidence in examinations and improved academic performance. The social media is the major hindrance to reading, as majority of the students use the social media daily and some of them to as much as 7 hours every day. Majority of the students prefer using social media to reading. It was therefore recommended that social media should be integrated into lecture delivery platforms, while the education and ICT policies should be reviewed. While Librarians and Civil Societies to engage in advocacy campaigns, Librarians need to develop their skills sets for improved service delivery.","PeriodicalId":190996,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Advanced Research and Reports","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132967191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The estimation procedure is based on the row, column and overall means and variances of time series data arranged in a Buys-Ballot table. The procedure assumes that (1) the underlying distribution of the variable, X  i j ,  i = 1, 2, ..., m , j = 1, 2, ..., s , under study is normal. (2) the trending curve is either linear or quadratic and (3) the decomposition method is either multiplicative or mixed. Statistical properties of the overall sample variances of the Buys-Ballot table are also considered in this study. Result indicates that, under the stated assumptions, the expected value of the overall sample variances involve sum of square and cross-product of trend parameters and seasonal indices.","PeriodicalId":190996,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Advanced Research and Reports","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117301943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The potassium bromate content of selected bread samples mostly consumed in areas around two tertiary institutions in Rivers State was studied. Sixteen different bread brands were randomly obtained from bakeries and food vendors around Rumuolumeni and Mile 3 area of Rivers State. Samples were qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed using the methods of AOAC, 2005. The qualitative analysis was determined by a color change from yellow to purple indicating the presence of Potassium bromate while quantitative analysis was done using a UV spectrophotometer. Results for Rumuolumeni ranged from 0.02µg/g to 1.98µg/g while results from Mile 3 area ranged from 0.02µg/g to 1.51µg/g. The results showed that bread samples from all studied areas were higher than the permissible standard set by NAFDAC for bromated bread. It is recommended that regulatory bodies in Nigeria be more proactive in the enforcement of laws regarding food safety. ","PeriodicalId":190996,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Advanced Research and Reports","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133619869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
