This research used qualitative research methods through an interpretive and constructive paradigm that viewed social reality as an interactive relationship (reciprocal). The analysis was carried out by perspective. So that it depended on the quality of observation and meaning, to reveal something behind the reciprocal phenomena of language in the life of the Bajo ethnic (especially Bajo ethnic in Katela Island) and its rituals. This research found that there are two reciprocal roles of language that are interpreted philosophically through the cruising of cultural studies, namely the role of instrumental and the role of material. In its role as an instrument, language can be in the form of linguistic phenomena that support individual behavior characterized by the emergence of understanding in interaction.The data shows, that linguistic reference can reveal the potential for infrastructure that builds the identity and ideology of ethnic Bajo Linguistic, in its position as a scientific discipline, plays an important role in creating a new grammatical context in determining language as an instrument of identification for a community, because there is no communicative movement of linguistic logic if language is not born as a marker. Meanwhile as the material role, language is tied to sign and symbols in which its convention of meaning laid on the function. Reciprocally it is assumed that the geographic location of Katela Island supports the theological and teleological ideas of the Bajo people who inhabit it.","PeriodicalId":190968,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the First International Seminar Social Science, Humanities and Education, ISSHE 2020, 25 November 2020, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116259301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper aims at discussing the importance of introducing oral tradition that focuses on folktales and folksongs to Sentani children since those two works are related, simpler, and accompanied by musical instruments (for folklsongs). Data of folktales and folklsongs were collected from some informants, i.e. tribal chiefs and Sentani elders in Waena, Ayapo, and Hobong in June-September 2019. The term “children” belongs to those children who are in 4- 8 years old or those who are in Early Childhood Education and grades 1-3 of Primary Schools. This research adopted socio-cultural approach. From the discussion, it is found that (1) folktales and folksongs could be used as media of learning Sentani language, traditional knowledge, and moral values, (2) the learning was a breakthrough of disseminating the Sentani cultural heritages and various socio-cultural values embedded, and (3) the learning was a strategy of Sentani cultural heritages preservation.","PeriodicalId":190968,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the First International Seminar Social Science, Humanities and Education, ISSHE 2020, 25 November 2020, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115761077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sangeh is one of the villages in the Abiansemal Sub-district, Badung Regency, Bali Province, which is famous for its tourist destinations. However, for continuous existence as a tourist destination, a lot of development and tourism support business sectors need to be established, which requires lots of money. Therefore, the Village Credit Institution (LPD) and Rural Credit Bank (BPR) were established as of the Microfinance Institutions to assist in tourism to help in providing capital. Apart from this, students may need something more interesting and fresher. It is, therefore, necessary for teachers to be innovative and creative in developing instructional materials like using poems. Literature in the target language can become a rich source to be exploited for this purpose. The tasks may focus both on linguistic competence and literary competence as well as values found in the work. This paper is trying to show how Nyanyian Angsa (Swan Song), a ballad by Rendra, an famous Indonesian poet, can be used to create instructional materials. The method used in creating the materials is the WH-model. For vocabulary ( kosa kata ), one has to think of words in relation to, for example, collocation as in ‘ makanan cepat saji’ , connotation as in “ makan hati ’, appropriateness as in not using ‘ kamu ’ or ‘ kau ’ for an older or respectful person, etc. For reading comprehension , since the poem is for advanced level, tasks created should approximate those that can be handled by native speakers of BI, for example, “ Siapakah yang dimaksudkan dengan ‘seorang lelaki’ dalam puisi itu ?”; for expressions , one can ask question like “ Apakah makna ‘Malaikat penjaga Firdaus’ dalam puisi itu ?”; for grammar (tata bahasa), one can create tasks, for example, on the affix / ke-an/ or the infix /-i- / like in gigi>gerigi, etc. The poem may be dramatized with students assigned to play the role of a certain character, or students may also be assigned to produce a video. For values in the poem, students may be assigned to find issues related to the Seven Deadly Sins. To conclude, one can see that Nyanyian Angsa can be created with imagination to result in very effective instructional materials.","PeriodicalId":190968,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the First International Seminar Social Science, Humanities and Education, ISSHE 2020, 25 November 2020, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia","volume":"11 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116598239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
