However, in many cases, one finds the term community of practice attributed to other types of communities or work groups. This chapter aims to define, identify, and characterize communities of practice and differentiate them from other organizational structures which are not such communities. It establishes a comparison among them and observes the benefits obtained from each structure, indicating which strategy to apply depending on the goal or challenge. Finally, a number of conclusions and guidelines on the future development of communities of practice are presented.","PeriodicalId":190605,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Human Resources Management and Organizational Development","volume":"20 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120819688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It begins with an examination of work satisfaction and leadership, informed by motivation, leadership, and workplace attachment theories, then discusses how these theories have been impacted by changes in corporate governance. Present-day implications of corporate governance on work satisfaction and well-being are examined, followed by the implications of these considerations for the future of work in the fourth industrial revolution.","PeriodicalId":190605,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Human Resources Management and Organizational Development","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127743048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theory was further refined by Bernard Bass through the 1980s and 1990s and has become a hallmark for leaders who wish to embrace change and improve their organization's performance. Collaboration, empathy, trust, and a genuine concern for all employees or followers in the organization are vital to the success of the transformational leader. A comparison of the theory of instructional leadership to transformational leadership provides the reader with an understanding of the differences between these leadership models. Discussion shifts to focus on how trauma negatively affects employees and organizations and how the elements and practices of transformational leadership can work to bring healing and wholeness to school communities and weather the potentially negative effects that change has on a learning community.","PeriodicalId":190605,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Human Resources Management and Organizational Development","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127768403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the pandemic and lockdown quickly and unpredictably changed the form of educational activities, HEIs were faced with new challenges and had to demonstrate the updated approaches of their performance not only in educational activities but also as for their social functions. Based on the survey results, the chapter highlights the student's opinion on changes in the performance of the respective universities caused by COVID, infodemic and post-COVID society as well as student understanding of university mission “to contribute to the public good” under the new circumstances. Despite the modern world's technological and scientific development, the fact that the coronavirus has appeared to be stronger, infects people regardless of their social status, place of residence, financial status, origin, intellectual level, and most importantly, age, seems to be unbelievable. However, the situation is much more complicated especially when the number of deaths increases, and it enslaves almost the world's whole population. Causing certain stress, the pandemic has changed the lifestyles, and education and scientific works are not exceptions. All these changes have their consequences and influence, which are presented in the chapter. Moreover, it reflects the results of Infodemia during the pandemic stress and deals with the psychophysiological indicators of students and scientific circles.","PeriodicalId":190605,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Human Resources Management and Organizational Development","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133964691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
