This software is based on the coupling between heat propagation analysis with latent heat generation and structural analysis using the thermo-elastoplastic constitutive law. The heat transfer coefficient between the cast and mold is updated at each time increment as a function of the c1earance that occurs when the cast is shrinking. The formula for evaluating the heat transfer coefficient as a function of the c1earance has been verified by comparison with experimental data. The result obtained shows that the local variation of the heat transfer coefficient caused by air-gap generation has a significant influence on both temperature history and distribution and solidification time.","PeriodicalId":190136,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japan Foundry Engineering Society","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132794316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, we first discuss the influence of carbon content on the thermal expansion coefficient using the carburized samples, and then, the effect of Ni segregation using the cast samples with different graphite morphology. In addition, the influence of the cooling rate, namely nickel segregation distance, on the thermal expansion coefficient is investigated by changing the thickness of the cast samples. As the result, the influence of carbon on the thermal expansion coefficient is not so significant. Spheroidal graphite iron is not suitable for annealing due to the large segregation distance. In addition, the thermal expansion coefficient of thin cast sample decreases faster than that of the thick one by annealing. The thermal expansion coefficient of 35mass%Ni austenite cast iron can be decreased to 2.0 x 10u /K, by fully annealing to decrease in the Ni segregation, regardless of the addition of Co.","PeriodicalId":190136,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japan Foundry Engineering Society","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134445310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, a die lubricant spray experiment has been implemented with a heated die block. Temperature distribution near the die block surface has been measured by thermocouples, and distribution of lubricant/block head transfer coefficient in spray spot has been calculated based on the experiment . With the experiment, spray cooling models for casting CAE have been proposed. The models consist of one spray model and two spray models in which spray guns lubricant applied at the same time. Using the proposed models, lubricant spray simulation was carried out . The content of the experiment was that the simulated temperature curves were compared with actually measured temperature curves. As a result, the simulated curves agreed well with actually measured temperature curves.","PeriodicalId":190136,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japan Foundry Engineering Society","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114745236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Strip casting of 6016 (0.16%Fe) and impurity -Fe added 6016 (0.45%Fe) was attempted using this caster. Both 6016 (O.l6%Fe) and 6016 (0.45%Fe) could be cast into the strip continuously at the speed of 60 m/min. Use of copper ro11s and non-use of lubricant contributed to improvement of the cooling rate and casting speed of the strip. The thickness of the strip was 3.4 mm. The microstructure was very fine. The as-cast strip could be cold-ro11ed without homogenization down to 1 mm. The T4-heat treated strip of 6016 (0.16%Fe) and A6016 (0.45%Fe) could be bent 180 degrees without breaking. There was no influence of Fe content on bending-ability. Bending-ability of the strip was improved by rapid solidification of the twin ro11 caster in the present study. The twin ro11 caster in the present study was useful for decreasing the influence of impurity Fe.","PeriodicalId":190136,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japan Foundry Engineering Society","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122001872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Newly substituted lead-free metals like aluminum圃basedalloys are appealing as slide-bearing material candidate. Hot-dip coatings practically employed in the manufacturing of zinc alloy coated steel sheets. However, itis difficult to coat aluminum alloy on bulky steel substrates without sufficient preheating, because a rapidly solidified layer containing gas babbles is formed on a substrate surface. A variety of ironaluminides are also formed at the interface of steel and aluminum hot-dip coatings, which is the main reason for the difficulty in joining steel with aluminum. Ultrasonic vibration was applied to a steel substrate during the hot-dip coating of aluminum alloy to suppress the rapidly solidified layer and且 brittlereaction layer. Hot dipping of columnar steel substrates into molten aluminum alloy (Al-2.7mass%Si-4.6mass%Sn) was carried out through the use of a Langevin oscillator with a resonant frequency of 19.5 kHz. The application of ultrasonic vibration is quite effective for removing rapidly solidified layers and surface oxide layers from the substrate surface by sonocapillary effects based on the cavitation phenomenon, so that intimate contact is achieved at the beginning of hot-dip coating. When the hot-dipped substrate surface is heated higher than liquid temperature, a brittle intermetallic reaction layer of Fe2A15 grows at the interface. However, the application of ultrasonic vibration to hot-dipping is effective for controlling reaction layers less than 5μm in thickness. Impact test showed good adhesive strength of hotdipped aluminum coatings with a thin reaction layer of approximately 5μm.","PeriodicalId":190136,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japan Foundry Engineering Society","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123983397","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Fe content of 6061 aluminum alloy and the model material of recyc1ed 6061 aluminum alloy was 0.36 mass% and 0.59 mass%, respectively. Ripple marks, which are typical surface defect of rol1 cast strips, did not occur on the surface of both as-cast strips. Fe content did not influence the surface condition of the roll-cast-strip. The as-cast strip was cold rolled down to 1 mm, T4 heat treatment was conducted, and then subjected toπrad (180 0 ) bending test . The result ofπrad (1800 ) bending test shows that rol1 cast 6061 aluminum al10y and 6061 aluminum a110y with increased Fe as recyc1ed material had the same bending ability as that of ro11-cast 6022 aluminum al1oy.
