Strip Casting of 6061 Aluminum Alloy by Unequal Diameter Twin Roll Caster and Properties of Its Sheet
6061 aluminum al10y and model material of recyc1ed 6061 aluminum al10y with increased Fe were cast into strips at a speed of 0.5 m/s usi .ng an unequal diameter twin roll caster. The Fe content of 6061 aluminum alloy and the model material of recyc1ed 6061 aluminum alloy was 0.36 mass% and 0.59 mass%, respectively. Ripple marks, which are typical surface defect of rol1 cast strips, did not occur on the surface of both as-cast strips. Fe content did not influence the surface condition of the roll-cast-strip. The as-cast strip was cold rolled down to 1 mm, T4 heat treatment was conducted, and then subjected toπrad (180 0 ) bending test . The result ofπrad (1800 ) bending test shows that rol1 cast 6061 aluminum al10y and 6061 aluminum a110y with increased Fe as recyc1ed material had the same bending ability as that of ro11-cast 6022 aluminum al1oy. In the strip casting by the twin ro11 caster of the present study, increased Fe content did not influence the results of the πrad (1800 ) bending test .
