Material and Methods: We included 31 eyes of 31 patients with PES, 31 eyes of 31 patients with PEG, and 33 eyes of 33 healthy individuals in this study. All patients underwent choroidal thickness measurement at the subfoveal, nasal 500 µm, nasal 1000 µm, temporal 500 µm, and temporal 1000 µm areas by using the optical coherence tomography (3D OCT-2000, Topcon, Japan) device Results: There was no difference between the groups for gender and axial length (p>0.05). The subfoveal, nasal 500 µm and temporal 500 µm choroidal thickness values of the PEG cases were statistically sig- nificantly lower than the PES cases and the healthy group (p<0.05). Although the choroidal thickness values in the subfoveal and nasal 500 µm regions in the PES cases was lower than in the healthy group, this difference was not found to be statistically significant (p>0.05). Con- clusion: We found the subfoveal, nasal 500 µm and temporal 500 µm choroidal thickness to be significantly lower in the PEG cases than the other two groups. Choroidal thickness at the subfoveal and nasal 500 µm areas were also lower in the PES group than the control group but without statistical significance.","PeriodicalId":190073,"journal":{"name":"Turkiye Klinikleri Journal of Ophthalmology","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126583542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Material and Methods: Nineteen eyes with secondary lens implantation were included in this study. The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was measured preoperatively. The anterior segment was evaluated using slit lamp biomicroscopy and dilated fundus examination was performed. Intraocular pressure (IOP) was measured. Central macular thickness (CMT) was determined with the RTVue-100® Fourier-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (Optovue Inc, Fremont, USA). Endothelial cell count was evaluated using CellChek XL® specular microscopy (Konan Medical, Hyogo, Japan). The measurements were repeated in the first week, first month, and at three months, postoperatively. Results: Sixty-three per cent of the study participants were men, with a mean age was 68.11 years. A statistically significant difference was not observed between the two groups with regard to BCVA and IOP. The increase in CMT in the first week and first month was statistically significant in the group in whom retropupillary ICL were implanted. Endothelial cell loss was 9.77±3.93% in the retropupillary ICL group and 6.51±4.74% in the SFIOL group. One patient in each group developed an epiretinal membrane. Cystoid macular edema (CME) was detected in one patient who underwent retropupillary ICL implantation. Conclusion: Both retropupillary ICL and SFIOL implantation were found to be successful and safe in aphakic patients. A statistically significant difference was not observed between the two groups regarding endothelial cell loss over short-term follow-up. An increase in CMT was detected early period in the retropupillary ICL cases.","PeriodicalId":190073,"journal":{"name":"Turkiye Klinikleri Journal of Ophthalmology","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127854606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is seen primarily due to iris atrophy caused by aging, secondary to surgical complications and trauma. The free floating anterior fibers may cause corneal problems. We describe the case of a 75-year-old female with bilateral iridoschisis who presented to our department with vision loss. A slit-lamp examination showed bilateral asymmetric corneal edema caused by iridocorneal touch and a left dense nuclear cataract. The intraocular pressures were normal, and there was no history of trauma or heritable ocular diseases. In both eyes, the iris fibers were excised using an anterior vitreocutter. Phacoemulsification was also performed in the left eye. During follow-up, significant im-provement in corneal edema and visual acuity were noticed in both eyes.","PeriodicalId":190073,"journal":{"name":"Turkiye Klinikleri Journal of Ophthalmology","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127244067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Material and Methods: In this interventional case series, the medical records of 38 patients were reviewed retrospectively. Patients that underwent two-scleral flaps evisceration with placement of a spherical acrylic implant were reviewed. The patients instructed to look in 6 extreme gaze directions (superior, inferior, medial, and lateral and superior medial and inferior medial). The horizontal and vertical excursions were measured with a standard millimeter ruler based on any hollow on socket surface and over than four mm excursion was regarded as positive implant motility. Main outcome measure is implant motility. Results: Among the 38 patients, 19 (50%) were male and 19 (50%) were female. Mean patient age at the time of surgery was 29.1 years (range: 5-83 years); 6 patients were aged <14 years. Mean duration of postoperative follow-up was 6 months (range: 3-12 months). Medial and lateral excursions over 4 mm were achieved in all patients. Inferior excursion over 4 mm was achieved in 25 (65.9%) patients, superior excursions over 4 mm was achieved 20 (52.6%) patients. Oblique muscle function has been completely disabled in all patients. Mild ptosis was observed in all patients. Conclusion: In two-scleral flaps evisceration method some implant motility can obtained. But it does not take into account tenon’s capsule-pulley and physiological dynamics of extraocular muscles and check ligaments. Therefore this method is falling in contruction of full implant motility and it can not obviate incomitance between eviscerated eye and fellow eye.","PeriodicalId":190073,"journal":{"name":"Turkiye Klinikleri Journal of Ophthalmology","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123704350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
