However, the attitudes and involvement of locals play a major role in the success and longevity of such efforts. There has been little research on how community involvement affects locals' perceptions of tourist destination areas, particularly in the early phases of development, despite the crucial role that community participation plays in the development of sustainable tourism. The study aimed to investigate the relationship between locals' opinions regarding the growth of tourism in Kenya's Rimoi National Reserve and community participation. A convergent design and a mixed-methods approach were used in the investigation. Data was gathered from 10 resident teenagers who were purposefully chosen and 231 family heads who were chosen using a systematic sampling technique. While focus groups were used to produce qualitative data, questionnaires were employed to gather quantitative data. The results demonstrated a strong positive correlation between locals' sentiments toward tourism development and community participation (R=.666). Furthermore, the model indicated that approximately 44.4% of the variation in community participation could be directly accounted for by variations in the in residents' attitudes toward support for tourism development within the Rimoi National Reserve (R2=0.444). The study concludes that locals' perceptions of tourist development are significantly improved by community participation. Thus, active engagement of the community residents not only fosters positive attitudes but also holds the promise of yielding more sustainable and inclusive outcomes in tourism development initiatives within the community. The study recommends actively involving Rimoi National Reserve gateway community residents in tourism development discussions and decisions, raising awareness about the benefits of community participation, implementing capacity-building initiatives, and maintaining transparent communication channels. Cultural practices may influence their decisions, prohibiting them from eating certain foods. The study sought to investigate the influence of cultural practices on behaviors regarding food consumption of guests when dining out in restaurants found in 4–5-star hotels in Nairobi County. The study’s target population was customers dining out in restaurants in 4–5-star hotels in Nairobi County and respective restaurant managers. A suitable pretest sample of 10 respondents was selected from walk-in customers and three restaurant managers from three restaurants picked from the hotels that were not part of the sample. Cronbach's Alpha obtained from the pre-tested 13 participants was 0.743. The ideal sample size of respondents drawn from restaurants in hotels classified as four- and five-star hotels according to the Tourism Regulatory Authority classification 2016 was determined by proportionate stratified sampling. The sampling technique for the Managers was purposive, selecting each Restaurant's Manager. The estimated number of respondents was 385 from a sample of restaurants in 21 hotels ranked as 4- and 5-star hotels in Nairobi County. Data collection involved questionnaires and direct interviews, yielding an 80.5% response rate with 310 adequately completed questionnaires and seven interviews. The analysis utilized descriptive and inferential statistics, presenting the data in tables, charts, and graphs for each category of variables. The Chi-square Test was employed to assess the relationship between dependent and independent variables at a 95% confidence level. The findings showed a significant association between food taboos and the dining habits of patrons in 4-5 star hotel restaurants in Nairobi County (χ2=8.980, p=0.003), a notable link between cultural beliefs and dining habits in the same context (χ2=22.099, p<0.05), and a significant influence of rituals on these dining habits (χ2=5.361, p=0.021<0.05). The study further established that the decision-making process significantly moderated the relationship between cultural practices and consumption behavior of diners in restaurants in four and five-star hotels in Nairobi County. The study concludes that modern-day food consumption behaviors result from several factors, including culture, taboo, religious beliefs, rituals, and thus food choice diversity. Therefore, 4- and 5-star hotel professionals should factor in the cultural element during menu planning to balance the catering, financial, and marketing policies. The specific goals of this research were: to record the types of hazards encountered by five-star hotels in Nairobi City County; to identify the areas of those hotels where emergencies occur; to learn about the barriers to emergency response services for guests with mobility impairments in those hotels; and to identify the factors in emergency response systems that significantly influence visit by guests with mobility impairments. The study was informed by two theories; the theory of time constraints on leisure activities and the theory of social oppression. Ten five-star hotels in Nairobi County served as the sample for this census-style investigation. The sample size was determined by a systematic sampling procedure. The data was gathered through the use of semi-structured questionnaires that were administered by the researcher. Data was coded and analyzed in SPSS using both descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Relationships between the independent variable and the dependent variables were determined using multiple regressions. Tables, charts, and bars were used to show the study's findings. The findings showed that the majority of the five-star hotels had not frequently encountered several types of emergencies. The study found that employee training for emergency preparedness was positively and significantly related to the frequency of visits by guests with mobility impairments to five-star hotels in Nairobi City County, Kenya at (β=0.595, p˂.001). The study concludes that while most sections of these five-star hotels, like kitchens and swimming pools, are perceived as safe zones with minimal emergencies, the parking area emerges as a potential concern. The hotels' commitment to staff training in emergency preparedness is evident, especially in hazard identification and spill response. The study thus recommends that the management of five-star hotels in Nairobi City County should conduct thorough risk assessments, considering both high and low-frequency hazards. Emergency protocols should also be in place not only for situations like terrorist threats but also for seemingly less immediate threats like floods and utility failures. The purpose of the study was thus to determine the impact of risk assessment methodologies on sporting tourism events. The specific objectives of the study were: to create a profile of the sports tourism events and venues, to establish the effect of crowd management and risk assessment strategies on sports tourism events in Nairobi County, Kenya; and to determine the moderating effect of financial capability on the relationship between crowd management, risk assessment strategies, and sports tourism events in Nairobi County, Kenya. In this study, a descriptive research approach was utilized, and the population of interest consisted of 17 prominent sporting event venues located within Nairobi County. The research focused its attention on a total of 340 participants in addition to 69 managers. The participants in the study, which consisted of 17 managers and 105 sportspeople, were chosen using a technique called purposeful sampling. In order to obtain data that reflect the ideas and opinions of the respondents in an unfiltered manner, questionnaires and an interview guide were used. A linear regression model was used to link the independent variable to the dependent variable. Result outputs were represented in tables, charts, and bars. The multiple linear regression analysis findings revealed a coefficient of determination of 0.700, implying that the independent variable used in this study; crowd management and risk management strategies, explains 70% of the variation in sports tourism events in Nairobi County, Kenya. The study established that there was a positive and statistically significant relationship between Crowd management and risk management strategies and the success of sports tourism events in Nairobi County (β=0.837, p=0.000<0.05). The study also established that financial capability had moderating effect on the relationship between crowd management and risk assessment strategies and the success of sports tourism events in Nairobi County. The study thus recommends a multi-agency approach to strengthen risk assessment and crowd management protocols. However, heritage tourism encounters challenges like cultural commercialization, deterioration, development pressure, marketing gaps, and insufficient maintenance. Consequently, Kenya has prioritized long-term heritage tourism development goals to realize Vision 2030. This paper examines how market penetration strategies can leverage the sustainable conservation of heritage sites in Nyeri County, Kenya. The study adopted a cross-sectional descriptive survey design, targeting the local community members, tourists visiting the heritage sites, key informants from the local government of Nyeri, officials from the National Museums of Kenya, and site supervisors. The sample size was 762 respondents, 11 were interviewed, and 752 were administered questionnaires. The results of correlation analysis revealed that market penetration strategies exhibited a positive and statistically significant relationship with sustainable conservation (r=0.620, P=0.000), explaining 38.4% of heritage sites' sustainable conservation variations. The study concludes that market penetration catalyzes the sustainable preservation of heritage sites. The study recommends integrating heritage sites into the County's economic plans and employing a comprehensive approach that engages the local community at all stages. This approach should encompass these sites' social, cultural, and economic importance for the local population. Furthermore, the findings highlight the need for a collaborative effort involving multiple government levels and diverse agencies to develop, expand, and market heritage products, with due consideration for biodiversity conservation. Despite this, academic research on the viability of sports events hosting as a tourism product in Kenya has been limited. Therefore, this study aims to explore the influence of local community involvement in sports events hosting on tourism development in Uasin Gishu County, with a specific focus on the urban area of Eldoret and its metropolitan regions. The study's theoretical foundation is based on social exchange theory. The research design adopts a cross-sectional approach, with 552 respondents. The sample includes 384 locals, 152 sports tourists, six event managers, eight hotel managers, and two tourism county officials. Data collection involves questionnaires and interview schedules. Quantitative data is analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), employing descriptive and inferential analyses. Qualitative data undergoes text/content analysis, and its integration with quantitative findings is presented during the discussion. The study's findings reveal a positive and statistically significant relationship between local community involvement in hosting sports events and tourism development (r=0.723, p=0.000). Impressively, local community involvement accounts for 52.2% of the variability in tourism development. Based on these results, the study concludes that local community involvement significantly influences hosting sports events and is associated with regional tourism development. To optimize the benefits derived from hosting sports events, the study recommends adopting a local community-centered approach in managerial, policy, and marketing aspects. By incorporating macro-level involvement through community groups and individual participation, a more equitable distribution of benefits can be achieved, fostering tourism development. Existing literature and case studies across various countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia, served as the primary sources for the evaluation of different practices. The core components of the study were understanding the impact of eco-trekking on local communities, economies, and the environment, and the sustainability of these practices. The research found a range of approaches to eco-trekking across Southeast Asia. For instance, in Vietnam, community-based eco-trekking initiatives emerged as a significant driving force for sustainable local economic development. These initiatives were also critical in preserving local ethnic cultures and traditions. In contrast, Thailand and Malaysia showcased more top-down, government-led eco-trekking practices that concentrated on environmental conservation and maintaining a balance between tourism and nature. The study also identified common challenges, such as managing visitor impacts, maintaining the quality of trekking experiences, and the need for increased local community involvement. Furthermore, the research emphasized the importance of cross-border learning and the potential for sharing best practices among countries in the region. In conclusion, the research demonstrated that while eco-trekking practices varied across countries, they all played a crucial role in promoting sustainable mountain tourism. The study highlighted the need for a more integrated, cooperative approach among Southeast Asian countries to share lessons and jointly tackle common challenges. These findings can inform policy-making and planning for sustainable mountain tourism in Southeast Asia and other similar regions globally. Future research directions may include examining the effects of recent global trends, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, on eco-trekking and sustainable tourism practices in the region. Previous literature provided substantial groundwork for understanding the concept of destination image and its correlation with tourist behavior. A comprehensive review of numerous scholarly articles, journals, and books was undertaken to identify the core elements contributing to destination image, such as natural resources, cultural heritage, hospitality, and tourist facilities. The study highlighted the crucial role of destination image as a determinant of tourist satisfaction, which, in turn, influenced behavioral intentions like word-of-mouth promotion and revisits. The analysis was bifurcated into two sections, representing the Greek Islands and the mainland, with each section examining distinct aspects of these diverse environments. Findings from the literature revealed a more romantic and adventurous image associated with the Greek Islands, rooted in their unique cultural attributes, beautiful landscapes, and laid-back lifestyle. This image was found to stimulate tourist activities related to relaxation, exploration, and cultural immersion. In contrast, mainland Greece, rich in history, architecture, and tradition, was perceived as more educational and historical. Tourists here were likely to engage in activities like museum visits, city tours, and archaeological explorations. Discrepancies in tourist behaviors and experiences in the two regions underlined the powerful influence of destination image. While both regions attracted tourists, their behaviors and experiences differed based on the respective destination images. This research has filled an academic gap by providing a comparative analysis of tourist behaviors and experiences influenced by the destination image between the Greek Islands and mainland Greece. It also offers practical insights to tourism planners and marketers in these regions, emphasizing the need for destination marketing strategies that accurately reflect and capitalize on their distinct destination images. Stakeholder analysis is a critical tool in hospitality management, aiding in understanding the perspectives, interests, and potential impacts of various stakeholder groups on industry trends and reforms. In the context of Brazil's hospitality industry, key stakeholders range from government agencies and investors to local communities, customers, and the workforce itself. Brazil has launched substantial tourism infrastructure reforms under programs such as \"Brasil Mais Turismo,\" aiming to enhance the country's attractiveness as a global tourist destination. These reforms target improvements in accommodations, transportation, visitor amenities, and overall accessibility. However, the reform process is complex and multifaceted, implicating various stakeholder interests and carrying significant implications for the hospitality workforce. The study emphasizes that the interests and influences of stakeholders can shift rapidly in response to societal, economic, and industry changes. Therefore, stakeholder analysis should be an ongoing process, constantly updated and adapted to reflect these shifts. Further, the study analyzes the impact of tourism infrastructure reforms on the hospitality workforce in Brazil. The reforms present both opportunities and challenges for the workforce. While they promise improved working conditions, skill development opportunities, and job creation, they also pose challenges such as potential job displacement and skill mismatches. The study concludes with recommendations for enhancing stakeholder engagement in Brazil's hospitality sector and optimizing the benefits of tourism infrastructure reforms. These include strengthening partnerships among key stakeholders, adopting a proactive approach to workforce development, and implementing robust feedback and adjustment mechanisms to ensure the reforms remain responsive to evolving stakeholder needs and industry trends.
