It was guided by the Theory of Planned Behaviour developed by Ajzen in 1991. The study employed a convergent research design under mixed methods research approach. The target population was 27 universities, 51,489 students, 708 lecturers, 27 Chief examination officers and 27 Directors of quality assurance from which the sample size of 460 was selected through probability and non-probability sampling procedures. A questionnaire, document analysis guide and interview guide were used to collect data. Source triangulation and research experts ensured validity. Reliability was ensured through Cronbach alpha and intercoder agreement techniques. Quantitative data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics whereas qualitative data was analysed through thematic analysis. The study found that strategies such as penalties for examination offenders and checking for student’ illegal material were moderately implemented and there was a significant relationship between the levels of implementation of university management strategies for combating examination misconduct and the occurrence of various forms of examination misconduct in Tanzanian universities. The study concluded that university management strategies are not effectively implemented and there is a significant relationship between the levels of implementation of university management strategies and the occurrence of various forms of examination misconduct. The study recommends that universities in Tanzania in collaboration with Tanzania Commission for Universities should review and/or formulate academic integrity policies that will specify and uphold universities’ ethical principles and values as well as practices of appropriate examination conduct for handling policy violations to realize quality examinations","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129632662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study, therefore, employed a triangulation mixed research approach with a questionnaire, observation, and focus group discussion aimed at identifying learning disabilities and their various causal factors at the SHS, typically among students who seems to be a repository of BECE under-performance at the visual arts department. Data was sourced from 119 visual arts students (85 males; 34 females), 59 “BECE under-performance” (33 males; 26 females), 5 visual arts practical lessons, and 8 focus group members (4 males; 4 females). The findings revealed that students with underperforming BECE grades were admitted to pursue visual arts programme at the SHS. This was due to varied environmental deprivations in school, classroom, and at home that presented an unconducive learning environment for these students. It was therefore recommended that strategic educational interventions should be adopted to help avert the situation.","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"123 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126928188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three research questions gave the study a direction. The study was a descriptive survey with an ex-post facto design. The population consists of 102 principals and vice-principals, in Delta State Mission schools and purposive sampling technique was adopted since the population was a manageable size, thus there was no sample. The instrument was a questionnaire titled (DDDMPLSIIQ) Data-Driven Decision Making in Principal Leadership and School Improvement Initiatives Questionnaire. The questionnaire was analysed with mean, SD and ranking. Finding shows that the current practices employed by principals in Delta State Mission schools in utilizing data-driven decision making for school improvement initiatives include; use data to monitor progress towards the school improvement goals, address achievement disparities by using data among others. The study also revealed that challenges faced by principals in implementing data-driven decision making in their leadership practices within the Delta State Mission school comprise; integrating data-driven decision making into existing systems and practices, limited capacity to use data to identify and address specific student needs and interventions. As such, it was recommended that principals should be provided with adequate training and professional development opportunities to enhance their data literacy skills. This will empower them to effectively collect, analyze, and interpret data and identify specific student needs for targeted interventions.","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131046453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research was conducted through quantitative methods. For the inquiry a questionnaire was delivered to participants in electronic form. All the participants were students from three universities in Belgium (Flanders and Capital Region) – only the departments that used blended learning within their teaching strategies. The survey was conducted from November 2014 until June 2015. The results of the inquiry agree with international studies that within blended environment, Cognitive Presence is highly related with deep learning (Akyol & Garrison, 2011; Akyol, Garrison, & Ozden, 2009; Garrison & Cleveland- Innes, 2005). Though, further research should be conducted, focusing on linking quantitative comparatives of the development of education and learning approaches.","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"27 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113977222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The researchers surveyed both domestic and international teachers at a private science university in Japan and found that educators believe some struggles exist for Japanese students in English-taught classes. These struggles, specifically regarding cultural differences in teaching and learning styles, might hinder Japanese students’ acclimation to English-taught courses. The respondents also felt that English-taught programs were necessary and benefitted both international and domestic students.","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114146326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In spite of its importance, performance in the subject is below expectation in Rivers State. Previous studies revealed that brainstorming and field trip will improve learning outcomes but they are rarely used while teaching Business Studies. This study, therefore, determined the effects of brainstorming (BTM), field trip (FTTM), and conventional teaching methods (CM) and gender on secondary school students’ achievement in Business Studies. All the JSS 2 students (467) in the selected schools participated in the study. The treatment lasted for seven weeks. The instrument used was Business Studies Achievement Test (r=0.82), Data collected was analysed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. There was a significant main effect of treatment on students’ achievement in Business Studies [F(2,131)=26.70, partial η2=0.29]. Participants in FTTM had the highest mean (35.79), followed by BTM (35.71) and CM (27.54). Results revealed that gender did not have a significant main effect on students’ achievement in business studies [F(1,131) =.315, P> .05]. Brainstorming and Field trip teaching methods influenced learning outcomes of students in Business studies in Rivers state but Field trip method was better. It is therefore suggested that teachers should use both methods during Business studies classes.","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114137839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The usage of digital libraries has become increasing important in the implementation of secondary schools curriculum in Nigeria. However, students learning styles have been identified as a critical factor that affects their utilization of digital libraries and thereby constitute a limitation to their learning. This was mainly due to certain challenges which include non sensitization and awareness of teachers and libraries attendants to cater for the learners’ peculiar ways of learning, low strength of internet provision in Nigeria, high subscription rate, inadequacy of e-learning resources to support the users the users, inadequate training on digital literacy, low support from educators on incorporating multimedia resources and poor digital literacy. Therefore, if the essential resources are well catered for learners can make use and access the digital libraries very easy to achieve greater learning outcomes which is implementation of secondary schools’ curriculum in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116880301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
