In systems with mixed-criticality requirements, e.g., autonomous driving or aerospace applications, devices are expected to continue operating properly even in the event of a failure. An approach to improve the robustness of the device's operation lies in enabling fault-tolerant mechanisms during the system's design. This article proposes Lock-V, a heterogeneous architecture that explores a Dual-Core Lockstep (DCLS) fault-tolerance technique in two different processing units: a hard-core Arm Cortex-A9 and a soft-core RISC-V-based processor. The arc faults arising in worn brushes and slip-rings supplying the propeller anti-ice rotating loads on board aircrafts are of concern here. Intermittent arc faults may arise, causing current and torque ripples potentially exciting torsional resonances leading to the breakage of the coupling joint (‘mechanical fuse’) between turbine and generator and, hence, to a permanent out of service of the latter. Common non-selective protections are not effective against these types of faults. The study of alternative solutions requires accurate simulations of the complex electromechanical system. This work moves from the construction of the system model, for time-stepping FEM-circuit co-simulations by Maxwell/Simplorer software. Then, fixed-frequency intermittent faults matching experimental tests are analyzed. The causes of failure are definitively determined and solutions to overcome the problem are proposed. Moreover, saturation and cross-saturation effects make the precise modeling a complex task. This paper proposes a general model of multi-phase magnet-excited synchronous machines considering multi-dimensional space modeling and revealing cross-harmonic saturation. The models can predict multiphase motor behavior in any transient state, including startup. They are based on flux maps obtained from static 2D Finite-Element (FE) analysis. Many VSCs use LCL filters to increase their power quality. However, an LCL filter may increase the possibility of resonance. Therefore, controllers need to include an active damping feature to improve the transient behavior of the system. There are several active damping current controllers such as 1) internal model control, 2) virtual RC damping control, and 3) notch filter control methods. If there are mismatches in the balancing, microgrids with islanded operation capabilities would be preferrable. In islanded mode, nearly zero energy buildings commonly use a stand-alone photovoltaics power supply with a battery storage. A battery storage is expensive and the capacity in case of off-grid operation depends on the electricity consumption of the dwelling's occupants. Using thermostatically controlled appliances like a freezer, water heater and space heating as additional storage systems can reduce the capacity of the battery storage system or increase the operation time in islanded mode for a fixed battery size. This paper analyzes the battery capacity dependency both on the control algorithms for the thermal storages and on the occupancy of the dwelling. Possible battery reductions for different selected occupancies are presented in this work by comparing the simulation results of different load matching algorithms to each other and between the different occupancies. The analysis of those results enables recommendations on the most suitable algorithm for most occupancy scenarios of an existing dwelling with respect to a minimized battery capacity. The signal will be amplified by the controller and the power amplifier to generate harmonic vibration, which seriously affects the stable operation of spacecraft. In order to suppress the multi-harmonic vibration produced by the control system, the dynamic model of the magnetically suspended high-speed rotor system is firstly carried out in this paper, and the generation of vibration force is analyzed. A multi-harmonic adaptive notch filter based on double input is proposed. Since the radial X and Y two-channel displacement signals of the magnetic bearing system have the characteristics of equal amplitude and mutual orthogonality, the adaptive notch filter is improved in this paper. The harmonic suppression is realized by adaptive tracking compensation of the displacement signal. Finally, magnetically suspended control moment gyro system is simulated. The results show that the multi-harmonic adaptive notch filtering method based on double input is used to realize the tracking compensation of the doubling frequency disturbance signal, which greatly reduces the harmonic current. There are a lot of possible approaches, but boards like Arduino, Raspberry pi, BeagleBone Black (and others), can really simplify the interaction between the controllers, sensors and the actuators, so it is important to understand its advantages and disadvantages when it comes to processing speed, parallel processing, expansibility and versatility. This paper will be focused on the BeagleBone Black, the less popular of the microcontrollers/microprocessors mentioned before and therefore, the one with less web support and updated documentation. Its architecture will be explained in order to understand the advantages of the specifications of the BeagleBone Black, namely the ARM Cortex processor and its Programmable Realtime Unit (PRU). The operating features of compensator circuits when forming inductive and capacitive reactive power are considered. The reactive power regulation principles that provide the sinusoidal form of reactive current are explained on examples of operation of inductive and capacitive SVCs. The specificity of the operation of SVC control systems ensuring reliable operation in transient and steady-state working modes is discussed. The tasks of experimental research of SVC physical models are formulated.
