It is, therefore, necessary to apply standard precaution to reduce medical injury in the health facilities. This study aimed to determine the effect of education on knowledge about the use of needlestick and sharp injury among paramedics at the community health centers in Yogyakarta. Subjects and Method: This was a quasi-experiment study before and after with control group design. It was conducted at the community health center in Bantul, Yogyakarta. A sample of 30 paramedics was divided into 15 paramedics in the experimental group and 15 paramedics in the control group. The independent variable was education about needlestick and sharp injury. The dependent variable was knowledge about needlestick and sharp injury, measured by questionnaire. The difference in test results between experimental group and control group, both before and after the education session, were tested by Mann-Whitney test. Result: Knowledge about the risk of needlestick and sharp injury before the education session were comparable between the experimental group and the control group (p> 0.05). Knowledge after the education session was higher in the experimental group (Mean= 2.33; SD= 0.49) than the control group (Mean= 2.00; SD= 0.38), and it was statistically significant (p= 0.001). Conclusion: Education is effective to improve knowledge about the risk of needlestick and sharp injury among the paramedics working at a community health center.","PeriodicalId":187475,"journal":{"name":"Strengthening Hospital Competitiveness to Improve Patient Satisfaction and Better Health Outcomes","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123960297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this millennial era, there is a shift in marketing from traditional to digital marketing. A promotion through social media, especially Instagram has become an interesting choice. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Instagram as a promotion media at Citra Ananda Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Ciputat, Banten. Subjects and Method: This was a quantitative study. Outpatients who followed the Instagram of Citra Ananda Maternal and Child Hospital were selected for this study. The independent variable was Instagram. The dependent variables included Aware, Appeal, Ask, Action, and Advocate (5A). The data were calculated using Purchase Action Ratio (PAR) and Brand Advocacy Ratio (BAR). The data were calculated based on the criteria of 5A. The data were analyzed descriptively. Results: The percentage value in the Aware (X1) stage was 80.95%, Appeal (X2) was 75.93%, Ask (X3) was 82.82%, Act (X4) was 80.19%, and Advocate (X5) was 82.57%. The conversion rate from Aware to Appeal was 0.94. Appeal to Ask was 1.09. Ask to Act was 0.97. Act to Advocate was 1.03. PAR value was 0.99 and BAR value was 1.02. The rate of conversion from Aware to Appeal showed that customer interest was high. Aware to Ask the information provided in the promotion was unclear. Ask to Act showed a high level of commitment from the customer. Act to Advocate showed a high level of affinity from the customer. The CHWs are trained to run the integrated health posts (posyandu) in every hamlet. Training of the CHWs is expected to improve the quality of various health services, including exclusive breastfeeding support for lactating mothers. This study aimed to examine the effect of training on increasing the CHW skill in breastfeeding practice and infant development stimulation. Subjects and Method: A quasi experiment before and after intervention with no control design was carried out in Gresik, East Java, from April to September 2019. A sample of 25 CHWs was selected for this study by quota sampling. The dependent vari-ables were skills in (1) exclusive breastfeeding practice and (2) child development stimulation. The independent variable was training. The data were collected by question-naire and observation. Mean score of skills before and after training was measured by paired t test. Results: Mean score of exclusive breastfeeding practice after training (Mean= 87.40; SD= 1.32) was higher than before training (Mean= 54.32; SD= 2.43), and it was statistically significant (p<0.001). Mean score of child development stimulation after training (mean= 92.8; SD= 0.71) was higher than before training (mean= 63.8; SD= 2.22), and it was statistically significant (p<0.001). It can be used to assure the quality of health service, to reduce risk, to control cost, and to increase efficiency of resources use. However, not all cases need clinical pathway. This study aimed to review systematically the effect of clinical pathway on length of stay and hospital cost. Subjects and Method: A systematic review was conducted by searching published articles from 2010 to 2019 from databases, including PubMed, ProQuest, and Cochrane. The inclusion criteria were articles published over the last 10 years, randomization, experiment, cohort, English, full text, and open access. Results: After screening based on inclusion criteria, 13 articles were included in this review. All of the studies investigated inpatient cases, with 10 out of 13 studies performed surgical cases, including of total hip arthroplasty, sphenopalatine artery ligation, pediatric appendictomy, total knee arthroplasty, endocrine operations, hepatic surgery, surgery for uterine fibroids, radical cystectomy, open pulmonary lobectomy and bilobectomy, non-surgical cases of asthma, and neonatal jaundice. All studies measured hospital length of stay. Nine studies looked at the effect on costs. Other effects include resource efficiency, surgical waiting time, complication, and readmission. Conclusion: Clinical Pathway has a positive effect in the reduction of hospital length of stay and costs. It can be carried out for surgical and non-surgical cases with monitoring and evaluation during implementation.","PeriodicalId":187475,"journal":{"name":"Strengthening Hospital Competitiveness to Improve Patient Satisfaction and Better Health Outcomes","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129227934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to examine the association between lipid level and chronic periodontitis and healthy periodontal status in productive age. Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in a company clinic, in 2019. A total of 120 patients were selected consisting of 60 patients diagnosed with chronic periodontitis and the 60 patients with healthy periodontal status. The data of periodontitis patients were obtained from medical check-up. Data of lipid levels included total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. The data were analyzed by a multiple linear regression. Results: Patients with chronic periodontitis showed higher LDL cholesterol (p<0.001) and triglycerides (p=0.003) than patients with normal periodontal status. Total cholesterol was higher in patients with chronic periodontitis than healthy periodontal status (p<0.001). The difference in HDL cholesterol was statistically non-significant between patients with chronic periodontitis and healthy periodontal status (p=0.963).
