From the perspective of suburban political ecology, we analyze the different economic, political and metabolic strategies with view to the water and land resources through which large eco- nomic-financial groups, supported by the state, have produced an unequal landscape of archipelagos. The methods used in this work include press review, semi-structured with private, public, and community actors, and an analysis of water rights records in the office of Real Estate Curator in the province of Chacabuco. In empirical and conceptual terms, we demonstrate that the production of the new urban periphery and its patterns of socioterritorial and environmental fragmentation are not the result of abstract forces of globalization, but of deliberate actions of commodification, concentration (of property rights) and financialization of natural resources like land and water.","PeriodicalId":187436,"journal":{"name":"Norte Grande Geography Journal","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134110409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different administrations have chosen to develop the tourist sector-even though in the case of Extremadura these projects did not reach the goals they sought to achieve. Towns under 10,000 inhabitants, where a relatively large number of tourist accommoda- tion businesses have been established, are still losing population despite their potential and tourist-related resources. This implies that the policies to expand tourism have failed, especially because they have focused on enlarging accommodation capacity instead of generating products that meet the demands of customers. This attests to the notion that different policies are necessary in order to stop population decline-rather than simply establishing accommodation businesses or offering unrealistic tourist products that are unlikely to have a noticeable impact on the area object of study.","PeriodicalId":187436,"journal":{"name":"Norte Grande Geography Journal","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123661861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Colombia, the racialized differences that emerged and took shape in the colonial order simultaneously acquired spatial dimensions. In this article, I first address the theoretical relationship between society and space and then describe the historical processes by which racialized differences acquired regional di mensions in Colombia. I show how these racialized structures of region influence racialized social relations, through frontier colonization and urban migration. The conclusion reflects on the Colombian nation seen as an entity constituted by relational dynamics that have both spatialized and racialized dimensions.","PeriodicalId":187436,"journal":{"name":"Norte Grande Geography Journal","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125686611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under the current climate change scenario, the adaptive capacity that communities possess and will possess is important. For this reason, it is significant to highlight the practices that have proven effective in confronting climate variations. Using ethnographic methods and a review of ethnohistoric and climatic sources, seasonal practices of crop and flood management are characterized in the Apanza and Livilcar ravine, approaching the pattern of climatic variability that stimulated the adaptation of their communities. The results show that the region's past and projected climate present a recurrence of periods with greater and lesser availability of water just like when these practices were employed. Consequently, the disuse of adaptive practices can be linked to the sporadic connection that people currently maintain with the territories which stimulated strategies for resource management, within the context of 'de-peasantization' and urbanization experienced by in the region.","PeriodicalId":187436,"journal":{"name":"Norte Grande Geography Journal","volume":"132 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131730968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a context marked by the prominence of the territory at the turn of the century, a review is made of the main contributions made from geography in Spain both in relation to heritage, as with the territory and its landscapes, in order to reach geographical analysis of cultural landscapes. The present work provides evidence on the high participation of financial institu- tions in Santiago Metropolitan Area's land market, between 2010 and 2015. Also, through a descriptive statistical work and a systematization of agents involved in the real estate development of houses, is detected that banks and insurers are key agents in the forma- tion of land reserves. These institutions normally operate under land lease instruments, which provide liquidity to real estate companies and / or anticipate acquisitions for medi- um and long term housing projects. This work concludes by discussing the effects of this financial practice on the price and availability of affordable land, contributing to a critical reflection on the social exclusionary character of the urban land market.","PeriodicalId":187436,"journal":{"name":"Norte Grande Geography Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131099359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It reflexes on the ways in which re-existences are distilled in space. Likewise, I argue that the processes of robbery of black people were caused by dynamics of accumulation of land tenure, linked to the extrahecciones that were the result of illegal mining. In addition, the text conceptualizes the re-existences mobilized through matrices of subjectivity and other territorialities. Interviews, maps, and land tenure censuses complement this study. Finally, I argue that these processes configure ways of appropriating the Patia valley through power relations and ways of knowing and making territory.","PeriodicalId":187436,"journal":{"name":"Norte Grande Geography Journal","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128181388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Is very common the use of the equilibrium line altitude as a climatic indicator, for this reason it is necessary to have the current status of the glaciers, or their state during the glacial phase we want to reconstruct. To obtain these data it is necessary to have the surface and, ideally, the volume of the glaciers. In order to obtain these delimitation a metholodogy is proposed, which consist of carrying out geomorphological sketches, in order to be able to deduce the limits reached by the ice in other periods and, after that, to carry out a reconstruction and calculation of the equilibrium line altitudes. This study presents the state of the art of the methodologies and procedures used over the last decades to realize glacial reconstructions and calculate the equilibrium line altitude of the glaciers.","PeriodicalId":187436,"journal":{"name":"Norte Grande Geography Journal","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125583680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While private developers internalize the positive effects generated by public amenities, the increased land value, which is generated by public efforts, is not recovered by, nor redistributed to, the community, as in Chile there are no planning instruments specifically aimed to make those two goals possible. However, some recent legal and planning ad- justments seek the internalization of the externalities produced by urban densification by private agents, and also currently the state can partially capture land valuation generated by rural-to-urban rezoning. However, still land value generated by public infrastructure is hitherto not captured by the state. This article explores theoretical aspects of land value formation, seeking to provide empirical evidence about the effect produced on this valuation by the Metro network in Santiago, Chile. Furthermore, the paper analyses the new legal framework in the country, addressing its actual capacity to capture and redistribute land value, and anticipating regressive effects derived from its application.","PeriodicalId":187436,"journal":{"name":"Norte Grande Geography Journal","volume":"273 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124410622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
