The proposed methodology uses the combination of pre- and post-event information captured by phasor measurement units (PMUs) dispersed over the network. First, to limit the event search space and reduce the execution time of the proposed iterative algorithm, a set of suspicious lines are determined through the comparison of variations of voltage phase angle of buses equipped with PMUs. Then, each suspicious line is assumed to be on outage the current phasor of its' one (or both) end(s) is estimated. If the estimated current is approximately zero, the associated transmission line is on outage in reality and the screening process terminates; otherwise, the process continues by examining the next suspicious line. In a power system with the minimum number of PMUs ensuring network complete observability, the proposed iterative algorithm can identify outage of all transmission lines. The reliability of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulations on IEEE 14-bus test system. In this paper, a planning method is introduced to prevent the environmental and technical issues that the introduction of electric vehicles may cause for nonsmart electricity grids. The idea of this method is to employ the differences between EV types in order to achieve the minimum total emission which is the sum of vehicles emission and power system emission. The proposed method considers the importance of decreasing urban area emission and determines the optimal number of every EV type. The IEEE RTS 24 system, and real world vehicle specifications is used to demonstrate the capability of the proposed method. Results suggest that for low daily trip distances, the best option depends on the priority of urban area emission reduction. This paper proposes a dynamic impairment aware RWA scheme inspired by the idea of binary quadratic programming formulation for the static RWA problem. In this method, links wavelength occupancy information is collected to be used, in order to establish the upcoming calls via adaptive routing technique. Calculated light-paths' quality are estimated before establishing based on the developed model for some linear physical layer impairments. Performance evaluation results confirm that the proposed impairment aware quadratic programming based RWA (IAQP-RWA) is capable of reducing the blocking rate. Besides, average network throughput in addition to average channel utilization is increased as well. In paintings symmetry is understood as balanced arrangement of objects rather than a perfect mirrored symmetry. Computational aesthetic which was first introduced by Birkhof involves assigning values to each component of aesthetic measure. Processing power of today's computers as well as image processing tools has paved the way for automatic and objective evaluation of paintings. In this research, Gabor filters are used to devise a new symmetry measure appropriate for computational evaluation of paintings. This symmetry measure is computed for various images from synthetic and natural images to images of miniature paintings. Comparing this measure and two previously used measures against the subjective measure of symmetry confirms the effectiveness of our proposed measure. Generally these methods are based on skin color detection and extracting features from human body. In this paper a variant of SPM method is proposed in order to discriminate normal images from objectionable ones. In this method first SIFT features are extracted. Next features are learned by sparse coding the features of previous step. Finally classes are separated by a linear SVM. This approach remarkably improves the scalability of the training phase. However, labeling the collected data is costly and time consuming. Active learning has gained high attention due to its ability to label a vast amount of unlabeled collected data. However, the performance of the current state-of-the-art methods declines when the number of training data is increasing. In this paper, we propose and study a variant of Support Vector Machine (SVM), namely low-rank classifier, which is regularized by the trace-norm of learning parameters in active learning scenario. We compare this algorithm with the standard SVM algorithms in depth and analyze its computational complexity and optimization solution. These networks are classified as structured and unstructured networks. Unstructured overlay networks are characterized by a relaxed topology where neighboring associations are random in nature and oblivious to the properties of the underlying network which leads to topology mismatch. This usually results in the overlay networks owing several sub-optimal links leading to latency, redundant traffic, wasting bandwidth and finally degrading the performance of the network. So designing an appropriate algorithm for topology adapting can considerably affect the efficiency as much as performance. In this paper, an adaptive and smart algorithm for solving topology mismatch will be proposed by considering the bandwidth of each peer and combining learning automata and X-BOT algorithm. In proposed algorithm, neighboring association constitutes based on bandwidth and by utilizing the information provided by learning automata. The information about peer's bandwidth is kept in its local table used periodically for making decision about appropriate links. The read-operation structure of the proposed cell utilizes the single transistor which leads to a larger write margin. The development of practical EVs and HEVs has been limited by the costs and effectiveness of ESS. Several problems with batteries include overheating, low energy storage capacity, low charging and recharging efficiencies, as well as life time. Installing a super-capacitor (SCs) as a second power source to solve some of the battery problems and to improve the performance of electric vehicles is a feasible and perfect solution. In this paper, a model of hybrid energy storage for electric vehicle with a battery, a SCs and a three port bidirectional converter was designed. To have smaller current ripple for the battery and SC which results in improved electric mode efficiency in hybrid vehicle and to achieve more control flexibility three-port bidirectional converter with novel control strategy, used for manage energy between battery and SCs. The results show that the proposed hybrid energy storage system, improves the working conditions of the battery, furthermore the peak and average current of the battery is reduced due to the working of the SCs, which provided better working conditions for the battery and increased the operating life of the battery.
