Kevac","doi":"10.1109/SISY.2013.6662574","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/SISY.2013.6662574","url":null,"abstract":"Trajectory planning for serial 6 degree of freedom (DOF) machinery systems is demanding due to complex kinematic structure which affects the machinery tool fame, position, orientation and singularity. These three characteristics represent the key elements for production planning and layout design of the manufacturing systems. Both, simple and complex machine trajectory is defined as series of connected points in 3D space. Each point is defined with its position and orientation related to the machine's base frames. To visualize the machine's reachable space, the work envelope is calculated and graphically presented as very well known machine's property. A methodology to predetermine regions of feasible tool orientation (work window) is analytically and graphically presented. The work envelope boundary is generated using the filtering points algorithm, while work window is generated using either empirical or analytical methods. The singularity regions are calculated by finding the determinant of the reconfigurable Jacobian matrix. These three tool path characteristics represent three different spaces which are identified both analytically and graphically and plotted in Cartesian space using MATLAB tools. The singularity regions will be represented within the workspace and work window for a single machinery kinematic structure. Not only wired but wireless communication technologies have become part of everyday life, as well. Because of the dynamic evolution of the WiFi services, majority of the enterprises and higher education institutions have a sort of own wireless infrastructure on their sites or campuses. Such subsystems in most cases are central managed, 2nd generation solutions consisting of high-end network devices from the top manufacturers. The IEEE 802.11 widespread technology is affordable for everyone in the ISM (Industrial-Science-Medical) frequency band. Many users have access to WiFi devices and make its own SOHO wireless service in ad-hoc manner in the neighborhood of the enterprise sites. These devices cause interference and generate huge amount of noise in the wireless radio channels for others in the physical vicinity. Improvement of an existing enterprise system without overall coverage in interior and exterior environment needs important design consideration to extend the WiFi services conform to the user expectation level. Having a large number of mobile users with even real-time communication necessities, high-quality, and high-bandwidth WiFi system with QoS (Quality of Service) guarantees need to be developed henceforward. Improvement of the WiFi base station infrastructure to cover the wanting physical zones can be done after a thoughtful frequency analysis of the existing enterprise wireless system. However, such growth of new technological achievements was not accompanied always with the necessary caution steps and protection measures against possible breakdown and destructions, which in specific cases and under certain conditions could be disastrous. In this talk commemorating Academician Vukobratovic and drawing from his endeavors on the so-called active systems and research he shared with me as well as our academic cooperation during the last decade of his active work, while examining some advantages, his merits for the entire field are pointed in here out to the best author's abilities. Some active systems such as adaptation for active noise and machine vibration control via active damping by force feedback as well as mobile robotic unmanned air and underwater vehicles as well as platoon of ground vehicles are note considered. Rather focus is put on active controls of earthquake induced vibrations and high-rise structures, manufacturing processes, wheeled mobile manipulators and walking humanoid robots are discussed in more detail while on homing missiles are only mentioned. With this solution the parameters of the robot's gait algorithm can also be fine-tuned. Prior to the construction of the authors' latest robot called Szabad(ka) II, a sophisticated modeling was carried out. With the help of this model, the functionality of the robot could be checked before the manufacturing process. Until recently modeling has been used mostly for the verification of the construction, but as the next step it will be used for defining the structure and dimensions. The definition of the optimal parameters can be solved with optimization methods. Among all the approaches, those based on inertial sensors have been widely explored. Since inertial sensors are affected by measurements drift, they need to be aided by other sensors, thus requiring sensor measurements to be fused. The most used sensor fusion techniques are based on Kalman filter. In particular, the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and the Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) are used because of the non linearity characterizing most of the models. They often aim at reconstructing human motion by estimating limbs orientation, involving human's kinematics to constrain relative motion of the limbs. These models often neglect part of the degrees of freedom (DoFs) that characterize human upper limbs, especially when modeling humerus motion with respect to the chest. In this paper we present a novel 7 DoFs model which represents a trade-off between modeling accuracy and complexity for the human upper limb. In particular, we model the human shoulder girdle taking into account also the humerus head's elevation and the retraction due to the scapula's and the clavicle's motions. The model exploits inertial sensors measurements by means of an Unscented Kalman filter to reconstruct human movements. The system performance is validated firstly against a reconstruction based on an optical tracking system.
