The peculiarities of ethical views and deontological models that have existed in health care during the historical development of mankind are considered; the essence of Hippocratic ethics and its further development are outlined. The main international and national legal documents and codes of ethics, which are the basis for regulating the relationship between doctor and patient, and determine the structure of deontological competencies are analyzed. Theoretical and methodological principles of using concept maps in the process of general pedagogical training of prospective specialists in education, scientific approaches to the essence of the notions «concept», «conceptualization», the main provisions of the cognitive theory have been characterised. The semantic and functional characteristics of concept maps, the common and the different between concept maps and intelligence maps have been revealed. The stages of drawing up concept maps have been characterized. The peculiarities of concept maps as a means of providing methodology orientation of general pedagogical training of pre-service teachers. The factors that influence the effectiveness of the use of concept maps in the educational process of higher education have been identified. Pedagogical means of leveling the negative features of the digital generation in the educational process of secondary and higher education institutions have been revealed («method of paradoxes», discussions and the search for an alternative point of view, digital detox, etc.). It has been determined that reading is a «universal» means of preventing the youth’s «dumbing down». The need to involve children and young people in reading classical fiction as the most important means of teaching the independent construction of an image system has been proved. The importance of the formation of a reading culture in terms of total manipulation of the consciousness of the average individual with the help of the appropriate mass media has been noted. The technology of presenting educational textual information in the form of so-called creolized text has been characterized. It allows to visualize the educational material in order to bring it as close as possible to the corresponding requirements of «clip» information perception. The educational component is being taught at State Institution «Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University». The content and tasks of the educational component have been characterized. The necessity of formation of scientific research competence, skills of creating scientific texts of different genres, development of scientific thinking, practical skills of mastering scientific speech has been specified. The importance of competently organized independent work of students has been emphasized. Such kind of work involves various types of individual and collective learning activities, and is provided by the educational and methodological complex of the educational component in accordance with its program. The functions and principles of independent work have been considered. The educational and cognitive, reproductive and creative, research types of independent work in the process of working on the educational component «Scientific Style of the Ukrainian Language in Professional Communication» have been highlighted. It has been shown that amidst acute crisis caused by wars, revolutions, devastation and famine, the system of social welfare of population started to be developed in the country, which included provision of social assistance to children. The most important features of this system have been singled out in the article, which are the follows: state nature and exclusion of private and public initiative from the model of social assistance; class approach to the provision of social services; participation of a significant number of state units and institutions in the activities of social protection of children and distribution of functions among them. It has been proved that the provision of social assistance to children has become a priority not only of social, but also for educational policy of the state. The adoption of «Declaration on the Social Education of Children» (1920) and other normative documents contributed to the establishing of protection of children as the main task of domestic social education. Such protection was distributed onto both – orphans and children deprived of parental care, and children from families deprived of proper conditions for education and upbringing. The interrelated institutions and measures aimed at protecting children have been normatively defined. Attention is paid to their solution in the context of digitalization of modern society. The need for readers (children and adults) to master digital technology skills has been actualized. The concept of digital text has been clarified. The potential of literature for children and youth as a digital text has been determined in the context of implementation of the reading development strategy, the possibilities of its use in modern educational and information environment have been revealed. The results of a sociological survey on the compliance of modern online content with the needs of secondary school students, their parents, and teachers have been described. The most popular digital resources in the educational environment, which present materials on literature for children and youth (books, information about writers, educational, methodological and scientific materials), have been characterized. The quality of the presented content has been determined. Mobile applications with Ukrainian and foreign artistic works in text and audio formats have been analysed. The emphasis is placed on the current competencies for professions in the hotel and restaurant business, and it is noted that in the near future the technical skills will prevail, which will be complemented by strong personal, social and cooperation skills. It has been noted that these skills cannot be cultivated in a passive educational environment, and therefore, the preference should be given to active teaching methods that can improve the training of specialists in hotel and restaurant business, improve their attitude to learning and provide them with interesting learning and cognitive opportunities. The main approaches to the definition of the concept «active teaching methods» have been revealed, and it has been determined that active teaching methods are the methods that «activate» students by involving their cognitive abilities and processes, making them the active parts of the learning process, which in its turn promotes the development of critical thinking, the increase of motivation to learning, cognitive interest, the activation of creative potential, independence in obtaining knowledge, and the formation of «soft» competencies. The list of active teaching methods has been supplemented by the methods that are widely advertised and professionally substantiated in higher educational institutions today («incident method», «scribing», «reduced method», «delayed assessment method», «mind mapping», «Plus – Minus – Interesting» and others). It has been proposed to introduce such teaching methods in the training of specialists in hotel and restaurant business as: contest and business simulations. The process of their application has been described as well.
