However, the progress of the mariculture industry has lagged behind its potential. While land-based aquaculture expansion appears limited, mariculture development holds pivotal importance for the sustainable growth of Vietnam’s aquaculture sector. This study aims to review the current status of mariculture in Vietnam, offer an analytical overview of the sector’s potential and challenges, and provide recommendations and policy implications for its sustainable development. Secondary data from reliable sources and existing mariculture literature inform this study. It becomes evident that Vietnam’s mariculture sector remains underdeveloped, with marine aquaculture activities primarily concentrated in nearshore areas. Small-scale production dominates, while large-scale and offshore production has not gained widespread prominence. The availability of production technology and logistic services for the mariculture sector remains limited. Various sources of risk, including disease outbreaks, environmental pollution, climate change, input quality, and rising prices, pose challenges to mariculture production. For librarians, this development becomes even more crucial to acquire the requisite skills and knowledge in the digital age. This study presents the professional development needs of staff at the Learning Resource Centre, Can Tho University, Vietnam. This study used C.P. Alderfer’s Existence Relatedness Growth (ERG) Theory of Motivation - Existence, Relatedness, and Growth (1969) [1] as a theoretical framework. A mixed-method approach was utilised to determine the professional development requirements of the staff and the associated influencing factors. A survey questionnaire was disseminated to all 28 staff members (a 100% sample) of the Learning Resource Centre via online and in-person forms. Furthermore, fifteen individual interviews were conducted to obtain detailed insights. The research findings underscore that the majority of the staff at the Centre express a keen interest in professional development. Moreover, the research pinpointed three challenges affecting career development: budgeting (both self-financed and state-sponsored), time, and familial obligations. These results aid in formulating strategies to address the professional development necessities of staff at the Learning Resource Centre in the digital age. Additionally, to analyse Vietnam’s potential export of fruits and vegetables, this study interviewed 53 Japanese consumers. The Japanese have long embraced a healthy lifestyle. Eighty percent of the Japanese participants in the survey consume fruit and vegetable products daily or 2-3 times a week. They have a wide range of places from which to purchase vegetables and fruits. From the perspective of Japanese consumers, Vietnamese fruit and vegetable products are more diverse and cheaper than those from the US, China, Thailand, etc. However, their quality is perceived to be inferior to that of these countries. The total value of Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports to the Japanese market is quite modest, representing less than 2%. The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) recognise the conservation and sustainable use of seas and oceans as an indicator of a country’s development level. Humankind faces grave challenges associated with marine environmental pollution due to the accelerated pace of maritime resource extraction. Owing to the uniformity and the transboundary nature of the marine environment, preventing and reducing marine environmental pollution is not only a national concern but also a regional and global priority. As a region with diverse ecosystems and abundant marine resources, The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has long viewed marine environmental preservation as a cornerstone of its environmental protection strategy. This paper posits the effectiveness of ASEAN’s “soft law” and discusses member states’ cooperation through the establishment of regional documents and mechanisms to address environmental pollution. These are the typical and unique features that each community contributes to the cultural heritage of humanity. In that sense, the character of each nation, expressing its identities and personalities, has always held a peculiar allure for researchers. However, national character is a rather nebulous concept, challenging to grasp, both relative and universal. Therefore, it remains an open concept, amenable to various approaches in psychology, sociology, ethnology, anthropology, value studies, and cultural studies. While psychoanalysis and national character may initially appear unrelated, national character is ultimately influenced by factors residing in the collective unconscious. Hence, if one seeks to discern the personality of a nation, psychoanalysis provides a promising avenue. From this perspective, the study of national character from a psychoanalytic standpoint can be considered quite unique and advantageous, deserving of attention. However, changing farming practices, low-quality rice seeds, and mechanisation have led to the emergence and spread of weedy rice (Oryza spp.) in Thap Muoi and the broader Mekong delta. This comprehensive assessment of weedy rice outbreak risks in Thap Muoi provides a vital foundation for effective management strategies to prevent its spread in the Mekong delta. Sixty questionnaires were collected from rice-farming households. Approximately 80% of farmers reported the appearance of weedy rice approximately five years ago. Alarmingly, 95% of surveyed farmers (57 individuals) reported weedy rice infestations, with 40% of them encountering infection levels ranging from 11 to 20 plants/m2. To distinguish weedy rice from cultivated varieties, seven distinct types were identified based on various morphological characteristics, including growth time, leaf blade structure, plant height, leaf/stem colour and shape, grain beard/tail, seed/husk colour, grain length, ripening time, and seed dispersal potential. However, all seven weedy rice varieties exhibited short growth cycles and the capacity to produce seeds, posing significant challenges to rice production management in Thap Muoi. This research underscores the critical importance of assessing weedy rice outbreak risks in Thap Muoi and understanding its morphology and prevalence. The growth process occurred over more than 19 days at a temperature of 39°C. Natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis has proven beneficial for studying charge transfer and conjugative interactions in molecular systems. Moreover, it sheds light on intermolecular bonding, and the interactions between these bonds have implications for optical applications. Additionally, the charge transfer interactions within the molecule that influence its catalytic activity can be elucidated by a lower HOMO and LUMO energy gap. This energy difference can be an indicator of a compound’s excitability; the more readily a compound can be excited, the narrower the energy gap. The energy gap might be significantly affected by the influence of thermal energy. However, the high cost of Hf limits its use in these alloys. Therefore, Hf-free (Ti, Zr)NiSn alloys synthesised using a rapid process offer a cost-effective approach to reducing product costs. In this study, we employed the fast synthesis melt-spinning (MS) method to prepare an Hf-free Ti0.5Zr0.5NiSn alloy while systematically optimising MS conditions. We found that by varying the rotation speed of the copper wheel in the MS system from 1000 to 4000 rpm, a marked change in the structural morphology of the melt-spun ribbons occurred. Grain growth during the spark plasma sintering process significantly affected TE properties of the bulk Ti0.5Zr0.5NiSn alloy depending on the structural morphology. Friction stir welding, a solid-state welding technique, proves to be suitable for joining dissimilar metals. In this study, friction stir welding was employed to create a joint between pure copper 1100 and aluminum 1050 plates, each with a thickness of 5 mm. The fabricated results showed that a significant amount of copper was dispersed into the aluminum side to establish the bonding. The bonding strength was evaluated through tensile testing, while the macrostructure and fracture paths of the joints were monitored using an optical microscope. Despite efforts, eliminating defects in the joint proved challenging, with most defects attributed to vacancies. Increasing the tool rotation speed resulted in greater mixing intensity between the aluminum and copper. The interface between the copper and aluminum was found to be prone to crack propagation.
