The paper includes: design methodologies for virtual enterprises, collaborative process design and simulation, IT tools and systems to support collaborative processes and enable new business models. We present the description of best practice cases developed in the context of above projects whilst focusing on the issue of technical and organizational integration. The results achieved will be the bridge to a new vision and framework to ensure sustainable profitability in dynamic business networks combining mass production outsourcing with the added value of customer centric mass customization. The proposed model addresses the virtual enterprise issues for customer value co-creation (processes), to network integration (systems). This model can provide clear guidance for the application of emerging technologies and collaborative process changes required by the organic transformation of global manufacturing organizations.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132891827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An organisational knowledge framework for capturing and representing “manufacturing know-how” has been developed using an ontological approach. The delivery mechanism for the application of the captured knowledge makes extensive use of web-based technologies. The captured knowledge is converted into an industry-standard format and then shared within a web-centric, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) environment. The integrated knowledge encapsulation and knowledge distribution and management approach is used to support collaborative and distributed product development global basis.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133173115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although several empirical studies had been carried out during the last 15 years, qualitative research has often been disregarded. This research aims to deliver insight of internal structures of VOs by analysing real world VOs following a qualitative approach. The analysis confirms that in practise the structural dimensions of VOs differ widely and that there is no general structural setting that can guarantee the success of a VO.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121058745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper a description of the functional and technical aspects of the an Operations Model for Extended Enterprises is presented. In this paper we propose workflow technique in process control of acquisition, which need high flexibility of workflow. The processing model, organizational model and resource model based on workflow need adjusting when operations alternate. The workflow system in this paper stores workflow model to ontology knowledge database in the form of knowledge. Users can log onto the knowledge database server to modify models dynamically and therefore realize its dynamic operation. At the same time, because the workflow model has been constructed in the knowledge database, the knowledge there becomes more enriched as this workflow is operated effectively. We can implement reasoning knowledge by applying logical reasoning block function, which carries out automatically or provides active information to people when transferring tasks and achieves an intelligent operation of workflow.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122697105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the applicability of the consolidated financial statement as a tool for managing network profitability is analyzed. The idea of the consolidated network is presented on the basis of a conceptual analysis, derived from an action research in two company networks. Despite the fact that there are a number of barriers on the way of the consolidated network, the idea of a consolidated view on business has received a positive feedback. The recognized benefits include value creation, profit calculation and profit sharing, and some other ways to improve performance within the network. Using the consolidated network as a metaphor is a way to communicate in supply chains.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128103437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Proposed generic pattern of this organisational form made it possible to apply customer service management mechanism to this area. The paper describes a related to personalized customer service management part of the developed by the authors approach to knowledge logistics and its implementation as a CSM system for an industrial company. Presented personalized customer support is based on application of profiling and grouping techniques for better recognition of customer requests given in a free text form. A common shared ontology is used for terminology description and providing for interoperability between different companies - members of the networked enterprise. The recommended solution emphasises the specific needs of SMEs which are: high flexibility to integrate with office- and enterprise applications, low costs of acquisition and maintenance, high level of security, flexible access methods, personalisation as well as ease of use. We introduce one of seven reference implementations that are installed in three different European countries to give an insight into the practical realisation of the concepts that we propose. The experience of the current solution is reported including common pitfalls and the way to overcome them in the continuing development work.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116275437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
