For example, it's difficult to share scattered data and control dynamic changing processes. Here we give our solution that uses SBA (Simulated Based Acquisition) thought and ontology to provide complete supports to a long life cycle of complex products. In the grid environment all kinds of resources are composed into a resource tree that is stored in a knowledge base. The interfaces are in the forms of web services that can provide unified visits, and the resources are related to different activities described in a workflow. Everybody concerned in this process can get his/her suitable information from a resource tree that is provided through out the process, operate the resources and get advices from this system at each activity of it. By now a part of prototype system has been implemented.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123762298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has been achieved by a review and synthesis of a range of primary industry cases, practical approaches and partial solutions available within the existing literature. The result is a six step theoretical framework that can be used as a point of reference for academics discussing the development of systemic approaches to the subject as well as those from industry searching for a framework for their Product Lifecycle Management activity. The originality of this paper is not in its constituent framework elements but more in its synthesis of existing best practice from industry, consultancy and academia into a coherent framework for the achievement of effective Lean Product Lifecycle Management.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134100709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is important to talk about “Management of product development time” because, under this new paradigm, companies able of “mastering” the development time will launch the product into the market just spending the planned time and resources and at the real moment. This will give back to the company higher market share and faster market penetration. The main objective of the Project AIM (Acceleration of Innovative Ideas into the Market) is to provide the means of stimulating the creation of innovative ideas in general, and specifically on potential product/process improvements and on problem solving. These ideas are collected throughout the Extended Enterprise from people involved with the products and processes; this knowledge will be further developed into innovations in a Project Basis process.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131253208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key question is the decision making in problem situation which appears because of changes in social, political, economic and other conditions of enterprise functioning. Results of the object-cognitive analysis are formal descriptions of relations between abstract concept and entities which are the domain basic objects (cognitive elements), in the terms of the domain thesaurus. Thus the result of the scientific research is decision support system models, representing knowledge processing to form decision making recommendations in problem situations. Knowledge, based on the problem situation management experience is to be stored in Knowledge Base of Information Decision Support System. This type of knowledge is to be presented as rules, cases and problem situations development scripts.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"383 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115049573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studies show that members of product development teams spend more and more time for communication, information and document management and have less time for the creative part. Online and off-line collaboration tools address the needs of CE but searching for information and sharing knowledge still follows the old metaphor of knowledge management, i.e. knowledge can only be shared (and accessed) when a common terminology is used. To overcome this limitation, we aim to investigate emerging Semantic Web technologies that offer new possibilities through modelling and using the domain knowledge to better support users of different disciplines to exchange information and knowledge without using the other parties terminology. This paper presents one of the first approaches to tackle information and knowledge sharing by using the latest - still emerging - Semantic Web technologies. We present the system's motivation, architecture and use examples. Furthermore we report on results from user test (done by users from Schenck Pegasus GmbH and Italdesign Giugiaro). We describe the experience that we gathered with the different Semantic Web technologies and give an outlook to future research and development needs.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134231153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

External environmental conditions, market pressures, stakeholder expectations, internal pressures and new strategic paradigms are analysed. The final goal will be the creation of a roadmap to the next generation of production systems. The investigation will rely on several on-field research approaches: investigations and critical analysis on recent and ongoing technology foresight projects, expert panels, Delphi studies, surveys and scenario planning techniques. Here in the followings an introduction of the research framework is given with the intent to stimulate a constructive discussion on it.","PeriodicalId":186243,"journal":{"name":"2005 IEEE International Technology Management Conference (ICE)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123708271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
