This paper discusses the model of multiwinding autotransformer used in calculations of transient states, based on FEM in 3D formulation. Once supplemented by a diode circuit, it was acting as a model of multipulse electrical energy rectifier, at calculations of transient states. The other way of using this multiwinding autotransformer model is to perform both calculations for transient states in autotransformer as well as calculations of matrix entries of coil dissipative inductance. Such method of calculations of dissipative inductance matrix will be compared with energetic methods, where inductance matrix is obtained from the magnetic field energy, while assuming constant coil currents. A 3D autotransformer model and two 3D models will be presented. Differences occurring between two dissipative inductance matrices obtained by the methods have been isolated in this paper.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127859318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our method is based on time-frequency representation (TFR) and hidden Markov model (HMM). The proposed scheme consists of two main processes. The features extraction processes are realised by TFR and utilized by HMM to provide detection and diagnostic. The effectiveness of the scheme is shown by simulation studies using experimental fault data obtained from machine: bearing fault, stator fault and rotor fault. These one can be detected online by monitoring the probabilities of the pretrained HMM. The schemes is tested with experimental data collected from curent and vibration measurement from the induction motor.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130358916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method is based on monitoring two diagnostic signals, one indicating sustained near-zero values of output current and thus permitting fault detection, the other permitting the isolation of the particular transistor which went faulty. The latter signal is the ratio of the average phase current and the average magnitude thereof. The method proves to work reliably, enabling detection and isolation of all possible cases of single and multiple faults. It enjoys high immunity to transients and noise and requires no extra hardware on top of that normally used for basic control purposes.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133610687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this paper is to explicate the two corpuses, showing how one corpus supplements the other one. At first the dependability theory is introduced and the related concepts of threatens, attributes and techniques are presented. Regarding the safety, the dependability theory limits itself to the enunciation of principles and axioms without giving considerations to the problems of their applications to an industrial system. This gap is filled up by the standards on the functional safety, which are introduced in the second part of the paper together with the concepts of risk, safety function and safety integrity level. Finally, as a case of study, the power converter supplying the air brake system aboard train is examined from the dependability and functional safety viewpoints.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121613941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the generator is excited by ambient mechanical vibration, its construction produces a relative movement of a magnetic circuit. This movement induces a current into an electrical coil due to Faraday's law. For aeronautical applications like e.g. helicopters, the generated power of around 5 mW provides enough energy to supply a wireless sensor.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129045776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the advancement in this area has led to the development of a new class of algorithms which are time-frequency based signal processing techniques. In this paper we explore the concept of identifying faults by analyzing the transient machine currents. We apply a new transient technique which extracts the nonstationary fundamental current component and analyzes the residual currents using wavelets. It will be shown that the technique shows a considerable improvement in detecting unbalanced faults in drive-connected induction machines.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128960776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two types of induction motors are analyzed; a 2-pole pairs, star connected and an 1-pole pair, delta connected motor. The radial electromagnetic stress distribution along the airgap is calculated and developed into double Fourier series in space and time. The computations show the existence of low frequency and low order stress distributions acting on the stator of the electrical machine when it is working under faulty conditions. These stress waves are able to produce forced vibration in the stator surface. The simulation results are corroborated by vibration measurements. Modal testing is also carried out to determine the natural frequencies. The measurements and simulations show that low frequency components of the vibrations can be used as identifiable signatures for condition monitoring of induction motors. The patterns presented by the faults allow to discriminate between them.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114857156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently the most frequent source of a drive breakdown is a defect of the bearings, which at the same time is most difficult to detect especially under inverter operation. The exploitation of the transient current slope was shown to give an accurate means to identify the machines transient reactances and thus also to detect possible asymmetries in the airgap. In this paper the influence of different types of eccentricity on the transient current slope of the machine excited by voltage pulses is investigated. Special attention is paid to the influence of combined static and dynamic eccentricity as this combination, due to the non linear behavior of the lamination gives rise to specific modulation that is clearly detectable. The investigation is done at machines with two and four pole pairs. The signal obtained corresponds to the inverse transient reactance. It contains different components of inherent asymmetries in the machine as well as in the case of eccentricity additional modulations that can be extracted. For a machine with two poles static eccentricity leads to a change in the signal offset, whereas dynamic eccentricity rotating with the rotor leads to a modulation with twice the mechanical frequency of the rotor. Mixed eccentricity finally leads to change in signal offset as well as a modulation corresponding to a fundamental wave with respect to the mechanical frequency. For a machine with four poles it is advantageous to use the signals obtained from single phase excitation separately.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130679885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This machine has symmetrical 60 degrees displacement winding allowing fault-tolerant modes for an electric power steering (EPS) application. The influence of the loss of stator phases in the stator current spectrum is analyzed by studying the behavior of some frequency components which depend on the speed. The fluctuation of these frequencies is examined to evaluate the effect of the torque ripple generated by the negative sequence components in the machine behavior with the loss of one or several stator phases. For this experimental analysis, a six-phase squirrel-cage induction machine of 90W, 17V, 2-poles, fed by VSI, in closed-loop, in normal operation and in faulted mode with the loss of one and two opposite and consecutive phases, has been used.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115987126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper is about how machine current signature analysis (MCSA) can reliably diagnose faults in squirrel cage generators. This paper focuses on the experimental investigation for incipient fault detection and fault detection methods, suitably adapted for use in wind generator systems using squirrel cage. The proposed system diagnoses asynchronous generators having three types of faults such as broken rotor bars, short circuit of stator windings and bearing fault. After processing current data the classical fast Fourier transform is applied to detect characteristics under the healthy and various faulted conditions with MCSA.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122438492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
