In this study, the tensile properties of the welded similar and dissimilar joints and the microstructure of the fractured surfaces were investigated. The metals are stainless steel (SS304) (SS), mild steel (MS), and aluminium (AA6063) (AL). The experiments are done considering the diameter of the materials and the speed of rotation of the spindle. The results revealed dissimilar joint of MS and SS gave the highest strength and rigidity values while the dissimilar joint of MS and AL was the least. The micrographs of the fractured surfaces revealed ductile fracture mechanism for all the samples except for the samples with MS and AL joint. The variations in the ductility of the dissimilar welds are connected to the obtained weak and strong joints of the metals. More so, the fractured point was a bit far from the interface region of the metals.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131535749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dryer comprises a heating chamber, two trays, a 0.5 Hp blower, two 1800W heating elements, a data logger consisting of temperature, relative humidity, and load sensors. Evaluation of the dryer was performed with okra at three levels of temperature (50, 60, and 70°C), load (200, 300, and 400 g) with a constant air velocity of 0.7m/s and average moisture content 88% (wet basis). The data logger device was programmed to record and store readings of weight loss (moisture losses) at 10 minutes intervals. The results showed that the dryer's maximum drying efficiency was 23.3%, whereas moisture losses and drying rate extended as the air temperature increased from 50 to 70°C. The drying rate increased as load decreased from 400 to 200g while okra at lower tray was observed to dry faster than those at the upper tray and moisture content at lower tray decreased faster with time in comparison with moisture content at the upper tray. The drying efficiency decreased with temperature, but increases as load increases.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131216708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sixty kit rabbits were distributed at random to four treatments diets and five rabbits / replicate in a completely randomized design (CRD). The diets consist of a control diet (0% RSM) as well as three experimental diets, containing 25%, 50% and 75% RSM. Results showed that RSM affected (P < 0.05) the rabbits' blood profile and performance. The weight gain was similar (P > 0.05) up to 50% SBM replacement, while feed conversion ratio (FCR) were similar (P > 0.05) across the replacement levels. The highest weight gain and best FCR were observed in diets containing 50% and 25% RSM respectively. The highest values of packed cell volume (PCV), haemoglobin (Hb), white blood cells (WBC), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), and mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH), were noted in Diet 4 (75% RSM). The total protein increased with an increased level of RSM in the diet, while as RSM in the diet increased, the liver enzymes dropped. In conclusion, RSM could effectively replace 50% SBM as protein ingredient in growing rabbits' diets.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130636743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Early detection of metastatic BC is essential for improving patient outcomes and increasing survival rates. There have been a lot of earlier Machine Learning (ML)-based investigations. Decision trees (DT), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Naive Bayes (NB), and other ML procedures achieve better in their corresponding fields. However, current methods for detecting metastatic BC can be time-consuming, invasive, and costly. Recently, deep learning (DL) algorithms have shown great potential in improving the accuracy and efficiency of BC detection. This paper delivers an inclusive systematic review (SR) of the existing research on using DL algorithms for metastatic BC detection. The article highlights the potential of DL algorithms in improving BC detection and the challenges associated with their use. Future research should address these challenges to improve the clinical utility of DL algorithms for metastatic BC detection.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126698286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study explains how colour is perceived by the rods and cones in human and animal eyes and transferred to the brain to create images. There are different applications of colour detection, and one of the most effective uses of colour is marketing. Colour can evoke emotion, affect purchases in stores, affect mood, and alter how one perceives food based on colour. Further advancements include the applications of colour detection in technology such as x-ray machines, night vision goggles, and infrared technology. In this work, two models were presented: a MATLAB model which extracts specific colours from an image using the pixel values. The second model is a python model that allows the user to identify a colour in any image and correctly predict the name of that colour along with its hex values. We concluded that the easiest colours to extract are red, green, and yellow. The most challenging colour to extract is purple.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"166 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122979762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To minimize this, there is a need to ensure cattle safety and provide substantial security when rearing cattle both in ranches and open fields. This necessitates the need to deploy technology to attenuate cattle rustling. This study developed and tested an animal tracking device using the Internet of Things (IoT). The developed system consists of three units that were interfaced together. These units are the GPS Tracker (made up of the microcontroller, ATtiny chips©, ATMega328©, etc.), the Mobile Application, and the Database unit. The developed animal tracker was tested and the results showed that the constructed tracker is equivalent to the standard GPS and adds more information about cattle location, breed, color, weight, etc. The developed GPS tracker is a long-time security and monitoring aid that will be used to eradicate cattle rustling in Nigeria and identify cattle and other information which enables easy identification of cattle when lost. The addition of extra features such as location history was also implemented to improve the overall user experience.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123159442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This present study evaluated the effect of the Annickia chlorantha ethanolic bark extract on testicular function indices. Twenty (20) Wistar rats were randomly distributed into 4 treatment groups: A-D. The control group (A) was administered distilled water and groups B-D were orally administered 100, 200, and 300 mg/kg body weight of extract respectively. The rats were euthanized 24 hrs after the last day of the 14-day experiment and testis was harvested for biochemical and histopathological study. There was a significant increase (p<0.05) in the ALP, ACP, and SOD activity in the treated groups compared to the control. Similarly, there was a significant increase (p<0.05) in MDA, sialic acid, and glycogen concentration in all the treated groups compared to the control. The tissue histopathology showed normal histomorphology of spermatogonia in the treated groups compared to the control. Quercetin, resorcinol and vanillin flavonoids are present in the extract. The binding energy of the ligands to the hk1 structure range is −8.2 to −4.8 kcal/mol, while with hk2, the range is −8.5 to −5.2 kcal/mol. Quercetin has higher binding affinity on both protein structures compared to metaformin and glucose-6 phosphate. The extract improved some testicular function indices due to high flavonoid content, particularly quercetin; nonetheless, there is a risk of toxicological consequences due to high MDA levels and inhibition of hexokinase activity. As a result, when used for testicular function augmentation, caution should be exercised, and additional study is required to understand the mechanism of testicular function increase and the associated toxicological implications.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126635011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The spread of Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a worldwide health concern. According to the WHO's estimate of the global HIV epidemic in 2021, 650 000 [510 000–850 000] individuals worldwide died in 2021 as a result of HIV-related causes. In this study, we proposed a mathematical model to study the effects of counselling and screening of unaware infective on the transmission dynamics of HIV/AIDS in the presence of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). We investigate the optimal amounts of various intervention measures required to decrease disease transmission and boost output. To do this, we alter our basic model to include various intervention techniques in order to obtain an optimal control problem, which is then qualitatively assessed using Pontryagin's Maximum principle. To obtain greater insight into the ramifications of the interventions, the resulting optimal control problem is numerically analysed using an iterative method – forward-backwards sweep Runge-Kutta fourth-orderr numerical approximation methodology. Then, using time as a control, we design the optimal control problems and devise a strategy to lower the number of infected people and the associated costs. Finally, numerical simulation findings reveal that the most efficient strategy to limit HIV infection is to use the optimal combination of condoms on susceptible and on infection transmission rate, counselling and testing on unaware infective, and treatment on aware HIV/AIDS infectives.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114302494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main goal of a digital assistant is to assist humans with different tasks depending on their domain. Many of these digital assistants use only English as a means of communication. For many countries, like South Africa, that are multi-lingual this causes a problem, especially for monolingual people in rural areas, as most use their native languages to communicate. This paper proposes a Deep Learning-based digital assistant for rural and urban or commercial farmers in South Africa. The proposed system uses two South African languages, namely English and Zulu. The digital assistant uses Natural Language and Deep Learning algorithms to increase the accuracy of the responses.
