A female patient, aged 67, presented with symptoms of intense abdominal pain affecting all regions of the abdomen and extending to the shoulder. The pain does not alleviate with rest and is aggravated by physical activity and coughing. The Chest X-ray examination revealed the presence of cardiomegaly, characterized by an enlarged heart and aortic elongation. The Abdomen X-ray examination revealed the presence of a pneumoperitoneum. Laparotomy may be conducted in individuals with gastric perforation to identify the pneumoperitoneum's underlying aetiology. The utilization of a concurrent administration of spinal anaesthesia (SA) and general anaesthesia (GA) demonstrates the effective reduction of hemodynamic impact during pneumoperitoneum while avoiding any associated adverse effects.","PeriodicalId":18554,"journal":{"name":"Medical and Health Science Journal","volume":"130 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135725210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Echocardiography determined the LV geometric pattern while packed cell volume (PCV) levels determined anaemia. \u0000RESULTS: The mean age of subjects with and without anaemia was 54.04 ± 14.47 and 54.92 ± 15.67 years respectively (p = 0.717) while the prevalence of LVH among the two groups was 68.8% and 57.9% respectively (p = 0.174). The most frequent LV geometry in both groups was concentric LVH (53.8% and 43.9% respectively). Prevalence of LV systolic dysfunction was 45%, higher among anaemic subjects (58(61.7%) vs 10(17.5%)) p < 0.001. There was a strong negative correlation between PCV and left ventricular mass index (r = -0.345, p = 0.001) among anaemic subjects, but weak positive correlation among patients without anaemia (r = 0.001, p = 0.993). \u0000CONCLUSION: Anaemic CKD patients had a high prevalence of abnormal LV geometry with significant contribution from anaemia. Typically, it spreads through contaminated food or water. Salmonella Typhi proliferate and spread throughout the bloodstream seeding multiple organs in the body. Incidence data of culture confirmed Typhoid cases is approximately 377per 100000 population with an approximate case fatality rate of 1% in India. The management of cases are hampered due to emerging the drug resistance of isolates because of rampant and misuse of antibiotics. This study investigates to analyse the current pattern of antibiotic susceptibility among Salmonella isolates from cases of enteric fever seen at ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Faridabad.
 Material & Methods: This is a retrospective, cross-sectional study. Blood cultures from patients with suspected enteric fever from Jan 2017 to Dec 2019 were included. The blood cultures were processed using the BacT/Alert automated blood culture system.
 Results: During the study period, a total of 4064 blood culture specimens were received from the patients suspected for fever. Out of a total of 2717 culture positive samples, 373 (13.73%) were found positive for the growth of Salmonella enterica [Salmonella typhi 87.13% (325/373), Salmonella paratyphi A (12.86%)], confirming the enteric fever.
 Conclusion: Treatment with appropriate antimicrobial drugs is crucial for patients with typhoidal infections and the antimicrobial susceptibility of such isolates must be reported as soon as possible.","PeriodicalId":18554,"journal":{"name":"Medical and Health Science Journal","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135138539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

AND ITS POTENTIAL AS AN ANEMIA TREATMENT IN PREGNANCY","authors":"Synta Haqqul Fadlilah, Dalri Muhammad Suhartomo, Rizak Tiara Yusan, Indra Yudhawan","doi":"10.20884/1.mhj.2023.3.1.9070","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.20884/1.mhj.2023.3.1.9070","url":null,"abstract":"Anemia is one of the most common nutritional problems in pregnant women. It is defined as a condition in which the hemoglobin (Hb) level is lower than normal. The main cause of anemia in obstetrics is iron deficiency. To prevent this condition, the Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Health made a rule by giving iron tablets to pregnant women at least 90 tablets during pregnancy (Kemenkes RI, 2022). However, some people are often bored with this pharmacological therapy due to the nausea and vomiting effect of the iron smell. Therefore, the development of alternative anemia therapy has been done to minimize those problems. One of the herbal ingredients that are being studied for its potential as anti-anemia in pregnancy is beetroot (Beta vulgaris L.). This research is included in the type of literature review. The selected literature is research articles published in the last 10 years (2013 to 2023). There are 10 articles that match the topic of study. A total of 7 publications demonstrated the effect of beetroot on anemia in pregnant women during the pregnancy period, and 2 articles in the post-partum period. A study performed in vivo experiments on pregnant female rats. Almost all of the studies did intervention by giving subjects beetroot juice. Only one study used beets as an intervention as ice cream. The results show that beetroot has the potential to prevent and treat anemia in pregnancy by increasing hemoglobin levels and the amounts of hematocrit. It contains a high level of folic acid which is important for normal cell and tissue growth. The iron content of beetroot also plays an essential role in the human body transporting oxygen to red blood cells, so it helps to cure anemia.","PeriodicalId":18554,"journal":{"name":"Medical and Health Science Journal","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135492877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HCC is the sixth occurrence to occur globally in 2018. When the patient's prognosis is poor, HCC is diagnosed. Due to HCC's impact on the patient's immunity, diseases like candidiasis are more likely to strike. Case Study At RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekardjo, a 66-year-old male patient complained of a white coating around his tongue. The patient's skin and sclera appeared yellow during extraoral examination. A full blood count revealed high levels of leukocytes, RDW, and monocytes but low levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit, erythrocytes, platelets, eosinophils, and lymphocytes. On the dorsum and lateral of the tongue as well as the lower lip mucosa, an intraoral examination revealed erratic white plaques. Oral manifestations are the suspected diagnosis based on the history and clinical presentation. Discussion: HCC patients exhibit an immunodeficiency that leaves them vulnerable to infection. Xerostomia, oral candidiasis, caries, stomatitis ulcers, tooth erosion, and masticatory problems are common oral symptoms. Patients with HCC must have their physical state, disease length and stage, kind of treatment, biological constants, and recommendations from an internal medicine physician taken into account when receiving dental care. Given that topical therapy is the first line of defense against drug interactions, it is advised in this situation. An immunocompromised state brought on by hepatocellular carcinoma leaves the body vulnerable to opportunistic infections like oral candidiasis. Maintaining oral hygiene is a necessary component of the preventative and therapeutic management of candidiasis.","PeriodicalId":18554,"journal":{"name":"Medical and Health Science Journal","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135492880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
