This descriptive qualitative research used “teknik bebas libat cakap (SLBC)” technique or Uninvoled Conversation Observation Technique which is backed by the data collection techniques of keeping records and taking notes. This study makes use of Kreidler’s idea of directive speech act kinds (1998), Bach and Harnish’s (1979) theory of directive speech act functions and Yule’s (1990) theory of directive speech act strategy (1996). Data were analyzed using methodologies of referential and pragmatic distributional. The analysis of the data reveals that: (1) the types of directive speech acts used by teachers are commands, requests, and suggestions; (2) the functions of these speech acts are requestives, requirements, prohibitives, and advisories; and (3) the direct and indirect strategies employed by teachers are for directive speech acts. The type of command is the most dominant directive speech acts used by teachers(48%). With 40% incidence, the requirement function overtakes all other directive speech act functions. With 78% of teachers using it, the direct technique is the most common directive speech act strategy.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133059685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It pinpointed the discourse markers that are used incorrectly by the freshmen students in their writings. Using a qualitative research design, the data were sourced from the sixty-two students’ electronic essays, enrolled in the History of the English Language course during the first semester of academic year 2021-2022. The essays were described, analyzed and interpreted using the framework on discourse markers developed by Fraser in 2009. Results showed that the students used restricted set of contrastive (“but” and “however”), elaborative (“and” and “furthermore”), and inferential (“because (of/this)” and “so (that)”) discourse markers (DMs). Furthermore, multiple incorrectly used DMs were also found as caused by misused, unnecessary, non-functional, and ungrammatical DMs. As use of discourse markers seemed restricted among the language students, the researchers found a gap of familiarization with other discourse markers and their functions among them, hence, limiting them to use common discourse markers (e.g. but, and, so that etc.). Moreover, students are also still incognizant with the basic functions and categorization of discourse markers which somehow affect the quality of their electronic essay outputs.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116198629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its aim is to transform undifferentiated beings at birth into beings who are members of societies capable of contributing to their substance and their development. It constitutes a catalyst for the reception of knowledge and seems to be the best shared thing in the world. School has become the preferred environment for Bantu and indigenous children. But indigenous children in particular, girls always drop out of schools temporarily and permanently. This study was carried out in the school district of Ngo in the department of Bateke plateau located 250 km from Brazzaville. Data collection was facilitated by the questionnaire, semi-structured interview, observation and documentary analysis. The results obtained confirm the main hypothesis, according to which there are socio-cultural and economic factors that hinder the schooling of young indigenous girls the main causes: unfavorable living conditions parental illiteracy, solicitation of labor work of indigenous girls, the language of teaching and learning.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114319915","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Entrepreneurship, which is commonly thought to be a subject for business discipline students, is being studied by non-business-oriented students as part of the curriculum. The purpose of this study was to learn about non-business students' perceptions and experiences while taking the Entrepreneurship course. To collect data for a case study design based on the interpretive paradigm, semi structured questionnaires were emailed to sixteen non-business Master’s students who were purposively chosen as key informants. Thematic analysis of the findings revealed that non-business students perceived entrepreneurship to be a relevant subject, particularly in these days of depressed economies where people must be job creators rather than job seekers, and where even those in employment must generate extra income. Further research revealed Entrepreneurship to be an interesting and beneficial course that imparts entrepreneurial knowledge and skills. The study concluded that entrepreneurship is a necessary course regardless of discipline and thus recommended that it be made a mandatory course across all faculties.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134364835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are conflicts in realizing communicative competence for the students online. This study aims to identify conflicts faced by the teachers in integrating communicative language teaching method and online platforms used during the pandemic, as the lessons in long distance learnings. This study is qualitative with in-depth interview as the main data collection technique. The respondents of this study cover 137 senior high school teachers. The data is analyzed by identifying the relevant interplays between graduate competences, language learning methods, online platforms used, and conflicts on the teachers and students learning autonomously along pandemic. The findings show that there are conflicts among the teachers and students in implementing online communicative language teaching autonomously, since the method and the used online learning platforms are irrelevant and internet literacy and infrastructure are still poor. There must be comprehensive understanding and skills of the teachers and students in handling autonomous learning digitally along the pandemic including learning outcome, materials, learning methods and process, and testing the outcome. These conflicts bring about lessons of adaptability, collaboration, communication, and resilience, they have learned valuable skills that will serve them well in their future education and careers. \u0000 ","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131518255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some of the differences in perception include: 1) Considering higher education very important, because women when they are married and have children, the mother becomes the \"first madrasa\" for her children and the intelligent mother will give birth to an intelligent generation as well; 2) Consider it unimportant, because they assume that girls when married are more focused at home to be housewives; 3) Although many of the Betawi ethnic parents expect higher education in their children, many of them are at a weak economic level. In principle, this paper aims to photograph the phenomenon of reasoning of Betawi ethnic parents related to higher education for girls in Tangerang City. In its analysis, this paper uses a descriptive qualitative method that assumes that researchers are not only actors in the field but can also be the subject of research. This research is indeed considered less than perfect; therefore, it is necessary to conduct further research at least through this research to provide an overview of how Betawi ethnic perspectives concern higher education for their girls. A study that describes social phenomena in the perspective of ethnomethodology in Betawi society.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129876459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to investigate the influence of socio-economic status of students on their educational and career aspirations. Descriptive correlational research design was employed in which a researcher-made checklist was answered by the randomly chosen Grade 10 Maguindanaon students. Frequency, percentage and Chi-square were appropriately applied to provide good inferences and implications of the results. Findings revealed that most of the parents of Grade 10 Maguindanao students finished high school level. Majority of the fathers were farmers and the mothers were housekeepers whose combined monthly income ranged from ₱10,000 to ₱15,000. Socio-economic status of Maguindanao students was significantly related to their educational and career aspirations. Higher social standing of the parents led to the higher educational and career aspirations. Low family income hampered the students to take up career track with high standard. Thus, Esperanza National High School should initiate an intervention program to inspire Maguindanaon students to pursue their educational and career aspirations despite of the financial woes they experience in life.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126426161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interpretive paradigm used in this study aided the current researchers in maintaining the integrity of the phenomenon being investigated, which comprehends the experiences of graduates on various platforms used at graduation. Qualitative method was utilized. The research included thirty randomly chosen graduates from three different institutions. Data was gathered using a semi-structured questionnaire. According to the report, institutions focused more on physical ceremony arrangements, despite the fact that the majority of students participated digitally. The study also found that other graduates enjoyed the graduation because they attended physical virtual graduation events planned by student representatives and held at various locations. Graduates, on the other hand, were financially burdened since they had to invest additional graduation expenditures in order to attend these physical virtual graduation festivities. The study concluded that the effectiveness of various virtual graduation formats as measured by participant satisfaction, ease of access, ability to optimize social presence, and engagement was not achieved. In this aspect, the survey indicated that colleges prioritized actual graduation ceremonies over virtual ceremonies. The research suggests that colleges collaborate with various event planners to supply and host their grads, allowing all graduates to experience a feeling of connection and success.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129429391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
