The linear program uses the effects of congestors on system to derate line limits of each transmission line. The linear program uses transmission line constraints with derated line limits, generation constraints to calculate maximum SIC for group of buyers and sellers on the system. The results of the linear program provide information regarding maximum amount of power the buyers can import, as well as amount of generation each seller can provide towards the simultaneous interchange. When only few of the available sellers can participate in the maximum SIC of the buyers, the market of available generation is referred to as concentrated. Each seller's contribution, as determined by the SIC algorithm, can be used in determining Herfindahl-Hirschman index (HHI) of concentration for the market. The resulting HHI value can then compared to government standards for HHI regarding market power in the electricity industry. Finally, sample applications of maximum SIC algorithm are examined. These examples are used to discuss the ramifications of congestion on transmission system's concentration and the usefulness of the derated line limit solution method for determining market concentration. This paper presents design, implementation and testing of low voltage busbar relaying scheme in laboratory environment using TMS320LF2407A Digital Signal Processor (DSP). Current differential algorithm is designed based on the DSP platform which can reduce large amounts of calculation, expedite the protection's trip and reduces the hardware requirements. Authors have developed a laboratory prototype of the three-phase busbar system containing 3-phase bus, current transformers, line components, fault switches and DSP trainer kit. Experimental results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. Conventional sliding mode observer use signum function as the switching function which leads to chattering in the estimated back EMF. A low pass filter (LPF) is used to eliminate the chattering problem which indeed produces a phase delay with respect to the actual rotor position. In order to avoid the phase delay, a phase compensator is used to match with the actual rotor position. To overcome the chattering problem without usage of LPF is developed by replacing sigmoid function with signum function. The connection of microgrid is in parallel with the main grid. When microgrid is isolated from remainder of the utility system, it is said to be in intentional islanding mode. In this mode, DG inverter system operates in voltage control mode to provide constant voltage to the local load. During grid connected mode, the Microgrid operates in constant current control mode to supply preset power to the main grid. The main contribution of this paper is summarized as 1) Design of a network based control scheme for inverter based sources, which provides proper current control during grid connected mode and voltage control during islanding mode. 2) Development of an algorithm for intentional islanding detection and synchronization controller required during grid reconnection. 3) Dynamic modeling and simulation are conducted to show system behavior under proposed method using SIMULINK. A direct solution to the Multi-Area Economic Dispatch problem is proposed. The method is suitable for radial interconnections of every size and complexity. The core of the procedure is in the direct graphical solution of Kuhn-Tucker conditions. A detailed explanation of the procedure and a comparison with other results from literature are provided. It requires designing of a hybrid controller which can adapt in different disturbance conditions and work appreciably well when compared to conventional controllers. In this paper, a hybrid controller for inverted pendulum is designed. Initially Fuzzy and LQR controllers for inverted pendulum are designed, then data are collected from these controllers, which then are used to train Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). Utility distribution networks, sensitive industrial loads, and critical commercial operations all suffer from various types of outages and service interruptions which can cost significant financial 1oss per incident based on process down-time, lost production, idle work forces, and other factors. With the restructuring of Power Systems and with shifting trend towards distributed and dispersed generation, the issue of Power Quality is going to take newer dimensions. To solve this problem, power electronics controller based custom power devices are used. Among these, the Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM) and the Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) are most effective devices, both of them based on the VSI principle. A DVR injects a voltage in series with the system voltage and a D-STATCOM injects a current into the system to correct the power quality problems. Comprehensive results are presented to assess the performance of each device as a potential custom power solution. In addition to that a Direct Torque Control (DTC) strategy that provides fast dynamic response accompanies the overall control of the wind turbine. It is specially designed to address perturbations, such as voltage dips, keeping controlled the torque of the wind turbine, considerably reducing the stator and rotor over currents during faults.
