The synchronous motor torque control, based on DTC structure, permits to obtain high dynamic performances. DTC is a concrete solution to robustness and dynamic problems found in other control structures. In DTC scheme, the requirement of the continuous rotor position sensor and co-ordinate transformation is eliminated since all the calculation is done in stator reference frame. However; the DTC scheme requires the position sensor to determine the initial position of rotor at starting. Elimination of the shaft mounted position encoder is a very desirable objective in many applications as this sensor is often one of the most fragile components in the entire drive system. This paper presents the implementation of DTC to Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with a sensorless initial rotor position estimation scheme. The requirement of sensor for the initial rotor position estimation can be avoided by impressing a high frequency voltage on the stator winding. Doshi","doi":"10.1109/APCET.2012.6301991","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/APCET.2012.6301991","url":null,"abstract":"This paper describes the design, implementation, and characterization of an Electronics Power Conditioner (EPC) with dynamic drain bias control that maintains efficiency of PA over a range of output power levels. The Drain voltage of power devices is varied in a known fashion against the input RF drive variations dynamically, to obtain better efficiency values over a range of output power. As a consequence, efficiency performances can be greatly improved as compared to classical back-off solutions. The employed 15-Watt C-band SSPA operates with 30% efficiency at an output power of 42 dBm. A coupler and detector from the PA provide a sample of RF input and a temperature detector provide the temperature data to the drain-bias controller, which is based on a buck dc-dc converter. The converter is designed with forward topology using resonant reset technique. Another low power push-pull converter is also used for providing housekeeping supply as well as low power supplies to the PA. When compared with a PA with constant drain bias (8V), the average efficiency of the PA with dynamic biasing is improved by 8.3%. Over an output power between 42-37.5 dBm, the drain bias varies from 8V to 5V, and the efficiency improves from 13.7 % to 22% at the lower power level. Here the switches are subjected to high stress and high switching losses that increases linearly with the switching frequency of the PWM. Another major significant drawback of switch mode operation is the EMI produced due to large di/dt and dv/dt caused by a switch mode operation. Therefore, to realize high switching frequencies in converters, the aforementioned shortcomings are minimized if each switch in a converter changes its status (from ON to OFF or vice versa) when the voltage across it and/or the current through it is zero at the switching instant. This paper propose a simplified switching scheme for three level full bridge DC to DC converters that enables zero voltage and zero current switching of all the main power devices. Power failure is a serious problem which the mobile operators are facing frequently and Diesel Generators (DG) are the common mean to tackle this problem. But constant increase of fuel price is a big concern for optimum operation of telecom Base Transceiver Stations (BTS). Therefore mobile operators are finding this system very cost ineffective and difficult to rely upon. Environmental issue is another major concern as burning diesel fuel increases emission of Carbon-Di-Oxide (CO2) and other harmful Greenhouse Gas (GHG). Renewable energy i.e. solar energy based solutions has the capability to overcome these aforesaid complications in context of Bangladesh. This paper gives emphasis on grid connected BTS sites powered by Solar PV (SPV) arrays along with DG's. The simulation of feasibility study and optimization analysis of proposed model has been performed using HOMER software. The main objective of this paper is to minimize transient response specifications chosen as rise time, settling time and overshoot, for better speed response of DC motor drive. The speed control of DC motor is done using PI and PID controllers. Implementation of PID controller for DC motor speed control is done using ZN and MZN tuning method. For PSO algorithm technique, PI controller is used to improve the performance of DC motor speed control system. A comparison is made on the basis of objective function (rise time, settling time and overshoot) from output Step responses. The proposed approach had superior features, including easy implementation, stable convergence characteristic, and good computational efficiency. Fast tuning of optimum PI controller parameters yields high-quality solution. This paper presents digital power system protection implementation using dsPIC33F microcontroller using Fast Fourier Transform technique. The analog input signal is converted to its digital equivalent through a suitable 16-bit ADC and is further processed using complex Fast Fourier Transform algorithm to extract the fundamental frequency magnitude. Once this magnitude is obtained, it is fed to the internal relay algorithm to initiate appropriate actions. The quality of insulation is very important factor in deciding the life of the equipment. Different methods had been used for assessing the quality of insulation under various conditions. Partial discharge (PD) test is one among the most important tests for assessment of insulation quality. In the paper, analysis of partial discharge is carried out for a void, inside the insulation with CIGRE-II method. A number of samples with different cavity dimensions have been prepared using circular Perspex disc. The analyses of these samples are done using MPD 540, which is a digital instrument, use for measurement of PD. By observations it is found that the inception voltage is almost 2.5 to 3.5 times the corresponding extinction voltage. The DVR control is based on symmetrical components and vector control. Rotor Side Converter (RSC) is controlled to maintain stator active power and reactive power constant. Grid Side Converter (GSC) is controlled to maintain a constant dc link voltage.
