The growing realisation about the fast degradation in the eco-system causing extremely dangerous consequences to the living organisms on the earth planet has resulted into serious efforts to shift to the mass production of socially responsible consumer products, which are eco-friendly, bio-degradable and can be recycled easily. Although this is a daunting task, it has to be promoted, protected and patronised by the state all through the production to marketing stages. The present investigation is a modest attempt to find out that how the company's brand name and the prevailing market scenario impact their marketing strategies for socially responsible products. Marketing strategies of 24 companies for their socially responsible products, cutting across different sectors of national economy and broadly operating in five diverse fields, were studied for the purpose of this investigation. A standard research questionnaire was used to capture the responses of the marketing executives and other personnel on various dimensions of marketing of their socially responsible products. The findings of the study are likely to make organizations concerned to revisit their marketing strategies accordingly. The authors also made certain suggestions and recommendations for consideration by the concerned stakeholders.","PeriodicalId":184815,"journal":{"name":"LBS Journal of Management & Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129598046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study is an attempt to measure the impact of government initiatives to encourage household savings, specifically on financial household savings. It further examines the effect of changing economic conditions on private savings. The trend in private savings is checked from 1991–1992 to 2015–2016. This sample period is divided into three phases thatis from1991-1992 to 2000–2001, from2001-2002 to 2007–2008 and from 2008–2009 to 2015–2016. Interactive dummy model is used to analyse the trend. The growth in private savings and financial household savings is observed to be stagnating in the second phase whereas dwindling significantly in the third phase. Increase in private corporate savings is offset by decrease in household savings in physical assets in the second phase whereas both decreased in the third phase. Multivariate regression is applied to determine if macroeconomic variables like inflation rate, real interest rate, dependence ratio, per capita income and private domestic credit affects private savings significantly. Per capita income, real interest rate and inflation rate have been observed to be significantly affecting private savings.","PeriodicalId":184815,"journal":{"name":"LBS Journal of Management & Research","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129826556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Owing to many challenges faced by them, people now stay connected more than they ever used to in the past. Thanks to the ‘Social Networking’ boom, social and professional connections are at an all-time high. The paper, based on primary research, presents the findings of a questionnaire based survey conducted on young boys and girls in the age group of 15–25 with an aim to highlight latest and ever expanding social networking reasons and trends among the young generation. Facebook, Orkut, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, and their likes have led to the metamorphosis of communication. The technology is simple to use, platform is hassle free. Even those with limited knowledge of computers and Information Technology (IT), with just a few hours of trial and error, can establish themselves. And to make matters better, with cell phone activity at its peak, people can stay connected even while on the move. People of all ages have got hooked to these sites, and among youngsters, the craze has assumed an alarming proportion. Parents are worried, psychologists alarmed, and behaviour scientists discussing. Like every other technology, there are the pros and there are the cons. The findings reaffirm the belief that social media is the young generation's mode of communication and expression. These findings are likely to be of value to marketers, who are looking at inexpensive, yet effective medium to reach out to their target customers, and behavior scientists, towards understanding the psychology of youngsters.","PeriodicalId":184815,"journal":{"name":"LBS Journal of Management & Research","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129245261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Talent management may be understood as all that practices that lead to attracting, developing and retaining people with the capabilities of meeting current and future organisational needs. Talent management practices in any nation or region would give best results when they are in consonance with the culture of that nation or region. Culture and environment fit matters even as extremely talented individual will not reach full potential in an environment that is a poor fit. One of the most comprehensive studies on how values in workplace are influenced by culture done by Hofstede, six dimensions of culture were identified. As per Hofstede, the interpretation of cultural dimensions for India was as follows: High Power Distance, High Long-Term Orientation, High individualism, High Masculinity, Low on Uncertainty Avoidance and Low on Indulgence. Sycophancy and exaggerated outward respect for superiors and seniors as characteristic part of Indian corporate life and in ‘cultural DNA’ of India were identified. India's tolerance of diversity has also been found to be one of the greatest potential gifts to the world culture. Despite the in-group out-group dichotomy existing there has been a high tolerance for diversity in India. Talent management in India is characterised by removing obstacles such as lack of resources through ‘jugaad’. Therefore, the challenge lies for HR professionals in understanding cultural DNA of India as well as working towards integrating the functional elements of different countries and regions present in India and adapting them to Indian conditions and managing and developing talent in the long run. Paper discusses how talent can be managed effectively, through a model proposed by authors, which explores Indian cultural context and fit of employees within the context for best results.","PeriodicalId":184815,"journal":{"name":"LBS Journal of Management & Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131238106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
