Cathodic protection by sacrificial Zn anodes is often applied to prevent metallic structure from corrosion in seawater. Zn sacrificial anodes can manufactured by casting and continued with cold rolling process. The purpose of this research is to produce Zn thin plate as sacrificial Zn anode raw material that free from deffect at laboratorium scale. Zn plate processed by casting and rolling with 1 mm thick then caracterized use vicker’s hardness tester and SEM-EDS (scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy). The highest hardness value of Zn plate 1 mm thick is 95.63 VHN average. Zr-Nb alloy is an alloy that widely used for bio-implants. The addition of other elements in the Zr-Nb-based alloys such as molybdenum will increase the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. This research was conducted with the aimed to observe the characteristic of morphology of the microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the Zr-Nb alloys with and without molybdenum addition. The composition of the alloy was Zr-2.5 wt.% Nb and Zr-2.5 wt.% Nb-0.5 wt.% Mo, where molybdenum was added to the alloy in the melting process using an electric arc furnace. Ingot of Zr-2.5 wt.% Nb and Zr-2.5 wt.% Nb-0.5 wt.% Mo alloys were then tested in Vickers micro hardness, metallographic with optical microscopy (OM) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy), XRD (X -ray diffraction) and environmental corrosion test in simulated body fluid (SBF). Results showed that the structure of α-Zr phase was formed and distributed homogeneously in fine-grain. The corrosion rate of the Zr-2.5 wt.% Nb alloy was 0.1023 mpy, whereas after the addition of molybdenum the corrosion rate of Zr-2.5 wt.% Nb-0.5 wt.% Mo alloy was decreased to 0.089 mpy. This occurred due to the formation of a thin layer of zirconium and molybdenum oxide as surface protection. The hardness of Zr-2.5 wt.% Nb alloy reached 183 VHN and increased to 230 VHN after the addition of 0.5 wt.% Mo. In the present paper, the results of lead leaching from galena ore received from Nanggung Bogor Regency in acetic acid solution with the presence of hydrogen peroxide as oxidizing agent are presented. Series of bath agitation leaching tests at atmospheric pressure have been carried out to investigate the influences of acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide concentrations, leaching temperature and stirring speed on the extraction percentage of lead. Leaching kinetics was studied at temperatures of 30, 40 and 50 °C by using shrinking core model to determine rate constant, rate determining step and activation energy for lead leaching. The investigation results have demonstrated that lead extraction from galena ore can be well performed by direct leaching of the ore in acetic acid solution in the presence of hydrogen peroxide as oxidizing agent at atmospheric pressure. The highest lead extraction level of 92.3% was obtained from the leaching test with acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide concentrations of 3 and 0.5 molar, respectively, leaching temperature of 50 °C, stirring speed 200 rpm, ore particle size distribution -200 mesh after 90 minute. The hydrogen peroxide concentration must be maintained at certain level in order to avoid the precipitation of lead sulfate that resulted in the decrease of lead extraction percentage. Multi pass high energy milling was utilized in order to cut and disperse carbon nanotubes (CNTs) suspension. The purpose is to maintain the crystallinity and suppress the damage. One until five passes gave increase in Dto G-band ratio which means increasing the damage, at the value range from 0.1 to 0.2. The ratio is still lower compare 2-hour high energy milling and 120-hour conventional ball milling, at the value of 0.5 – 0.3. The rheological properties was not altered dramatically.
