We present a constructive heuristic for minimizing total flow time criterion in no-wait flow shop scheduling problems. The proposed heuristic is based on the assumption that the priority of a job in the sequence is given by the sum of its processing times on the bottleneck machine(s) for selecting the initial sequence of jobs. The final sequence is based on the principle of job insertion for minimizing the total flow time. The computational results show that the proposed heuristic significantly outperforms the existing heuristics, while not affecting its computational CPU time.","PeriodicalId":184011,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Electronics Computer Technology","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131332742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed algorithm is based on the two ACO algorithms AntNet and Omicron Ant Colony Optimization (OA). In principle, the algorithm uses the mobile agents (ants) to collect information about the network. The ants exchange this collected data using stigmergic communication. In an attempt to decrease the packet delay and improve throughput new methods and data structures have been introduced. The algorithm adopts OA's approach to initialize and update the pheromone values. In addition, it introduces solution tables to hold a set of good solutions at any given time. Further, to select the next-hops the algorithm includes methods, namely, deterministic dual step method and roulette-wheel selection. The algorithm is simulated on the NSFNET topology using ns-2. On comparing the delay and throughput values with standard AntNet algorithm, a considerable improvement is observed, thereby denoting an enhanced efficiency of routing.","PeriodicalId":184011,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Electronics Computer Technology","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133852897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IDC is used to estimate the nonlinear perturbations, external disturbances and interconnection effects with time varying delay in interconnections. The sliding mode control developed in this paper does not need the bounds of uncertainties or the interconnections as well as the delay in interconnections. Further, unlike the conventional decentralized sliding mode control the control proposed in this paper assures local sliding in each subsystem and is not discontinuous. The effectiveness of the proposed control is demonstrated with simulation.","PeriodicalId":184011,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Electronics Computer Technology","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115516447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accurate automatic recognition systems are important for a wide range of applications such as banks, restricted areas, government classified areas etc. As traditional identity recognition methods such as pins, passwords etc suffer from some fattle flaws and are unable to satisfy the security requirements. The paper aims to consider a more reliable biometric feature, signature verification for the considering. The paper presents an experimental comparison of different signature verification methods. It can be effectively employed to reduce the risk of forgery by releasing the trouble of carrying ATM cards by the users, by employing a signature verification system. The paper compares four of the most extremely efficient methods used for signature verification like CDTW (Continuous Dynamic Time Warping), DTW (Dynamic Time Wrapping), Vector Quantization followed by HMM (Hidden Markov Model) employed for signature verification and the best method was stated. The paper also aims at improving the efficiency by integrating the methodologies introduced in the paper with each other. The methods were tested on synthetic and further applied on real time signature datasets. It is proved that superiority is achieved by combination of different methods.","PeriodicalId":184011,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Electronics Computer Technology","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114334816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering algorithm is one of the most commonly used unsupervised clustering technique in the field of medical imaging. Medical image segmentation refers to the segmentation of known anatomic structures from medical images. Fuzzy C-means (FCM) is a method of clustering which allows one piece of data to belong to two or more clusters. Fuzzy logic is a multi-valued logic derived from fuzzy set theory. FCM is popularly used for soft segmentations like brain tissue model. And also FCM can provide better results than other clustering algorithms like KM, EM, and KNN. In this paper we presented the medical image segmentation techniques based on various type of FCM algorithms.","PeriodicalId":184011,"journal":{"name":"2011 3rd International Conference on Electronics Computer Technology","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115035400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
