The performance parameters of interest are the coupling and mixing efficiencies of the lidar receiver, as they relate to the overall system carrier to noise ratio (CNR). The coupling efficiency relates the ability of the lidar receiver optics to couple light returning from a distant object into the multimode optical waveguide receiver. The energy thus received is then mixed with a local oscillator (LO) field in an evanescent wave coupler to generate the desired intermediate frequency (IF) signal current. The efficiency with which this mixing occurs is very strongly influenced by the receiver waveguide geometry, and thus the constituent modal structures of the guided LO and signal beam fields. Initial results indicate that for a symmetric square waveguide supporting seventy-five distinct modes, the coupling and mixing efficiencies can approach 78% and 23%, respectively. The architecture consists of several layers of mesh connected nodes of decreasing dimensions. In this paper, we investigate general node-to-node routing in pyramids. We propose two routing algorithms neighbor-tree (NT) and neighbor-descedent-tree (NDT). For each routing algorithm, we find the average and maximum message latency for each of the three flow control schemes: packet switching, circuit switching, and wormhole routing. Replicated shared-memory networking (SMN) offers an elegant solution to the real-time, computer-to-computer communications problem required in avionics simulation, monitoring, and testing systems. A SMN reduces multiple-computer systems to one virtual computer, diminishing system development and maintenance costs. It features both system-level architectural simplicity and ultra-fast data communications. Suited to problems requiring more than one computer, it offers data transfer at the speed of light. The goal is to relate and compare existing motion fields from flight test data of supermaneuverable aircraft to the motions that can be produced by ground based flight simulators. A literature survey of existing supermaneuverable flight test data is first conducted as it relates to the linear and rotational motion fields that a pilot would be exposed to. These motion fields specify what is desired to be imitated on current aircraft simulators to replicate agile aircraft flight. A goal of this study was to develop a method compatible with automated E-O testers such as the Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS) in production for the Navy. The automated E-O tester should possess, as a minimum, the following elements: 1) target sources-infrared for thermal imagers, and visual for television cameras, 2) a single-edge target, 3) video digitizer, and 4) processor for implementing algorithms. Multilayer perceptrons are considered with different structures which make use of different backpropagation algorithms during the learning phase of the neural network. The reference detection scheme assumed for comparison purposes is a coherent integrator followed by an amplitude detector and optimum thresholding. Most important the installation of a well structured software configuration management offers the buyer and seller protection against the myriad problems that often beset software development and maintenance projects that, if left unaccountable, can easily spell project disaster. This article states the candidate software configuration management (SCM) tasks to be performed during the software development life cycle. In performing the planning for SCM for any particular project, the tasks are in relationship to the statement of work for the development effort. With quality, in mind and a cost effective approach, only the tasks imposed by the contract will be selected from the candidate tasks and subtasks. This paper addresses major tasks, with each major task having its own esoteric subtasks.
