To meet the residential energy demand, distributed energy resources are being used extensively worldwide. Integrating renewable energy sources with the energy management system impacts the consumers and maintains grid sustainability and reliability, preventing brownouts and blackouts. The study aims to minimize energy consumption and cost at consumers’ premises without hindering their comfort. We have used fuzzy logic to control the HVAC system’s setpoint temperature and a Matlab-based smart load simulator to observe and compare the power consumption pattern of three different loads with and without local generation units. The results of the simulations demonstrate a net saving of 28% with a fuzzy controller, 49% in energy consumption, and 52% in cost when renewable energy sources and energy storage are incorporated.","PeriodicalId":182428,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Power, Instrumentation, Energy and Control (PIECON)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126057970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The excess releases of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels are the key factors responsible for global warming. Therefore most countries like Saudi Arabia, the USA, India, etc, and their policymakers think that conventional Vehicles must be replaced by electrical vehicles. Electric vehicles play a significant role in improving air quality, energy security, and economic opportunity. The placement of charging station is a complex problem involving a number of constraints, decision variables and objective functions. Therefore, for solving non- linear and complex nature of the charging station placement researchers apply different optimization algorithms. This review paper focuses on the optimal placement of electric vehicle charging station planning using different optimization techniques by various researchers.","PeriodicalId":182428,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Power, Instrumentation, Energy and Control (PIECON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116575870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite many advantages of MLIs, poor reliability of MLIs is a major concern as MLIs consist of a large number of semiconductor switches. Fault-tolerant topologies provide the solution to this problem. In this paper, a fault detection and identification method is presented for a sevenlevel fault-tolerant inverter. This fault detection method is based on monitoring the total harmonic distortion (THD) in output voltage and average voltage of one cycle. After identification of the faulty switch, the switching sequence and switching angles are to be adjusted. The method of fault detection and identification is verified by simulation results.","PeriodicalId":182428,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Power, Instrumentation, Energy and Control (PIECON)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125167117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

High-capacity Squirrel Cage Induction Motor (SCIM) draws huge currents; hence, the colossal flux density is emitted around the motor. When the leakage flux interfere with high-frequency electromagnetic waves, the influence on a human being is more dominant than power frequency. Time domain Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is performed to get an accurate instant value of magnetic flux distribution in and around motor a 15kW, SCIM. A 3D human head is modelled using FEA and placed in the vicinity of magnetic leakage flux mixed with high-frequency electromagnetic waves. The simulation reveals that magnetic leakage flux from SCIM is harmful to humans. The main objective of this work is to identify safe regions and create awareness of magnetic leakage flux, which can cause human health problems.","PeriodicalId":182428,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Power, Instrumentation, Energy and Control (PIECON)","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122765046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Uncertain generation characteristics may impact the trading strategy of power producers. Hence, there is a need to model involved uncertainties for accuracy in the trading decision in an electricity market. The randomness of wind speed could be described by a stochastic process and characterized via probabilistic scenarios. However, probabilistic scenario-based models are computationally demanding and require a large number of scenarios. In this regard, this paper presents the modified interval forecast approach along with the stochastic scenario approach. In the modified interval approach uncertain interval is forecasted as upper and lower bounds and hourly ramps are considered using net-load scenarios. The proposed modified interval model results in computationally fast solutions and is accurate to capture available wind power output. Proposed models would be useful for wind power producers in trading decision-making.","PeriodicalId":182428,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Power, Instrumentation, Energy and Control (PIECON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131218542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is extensively used in industrial, domestic, aerospace, and military applications. These motors often provide improved stability of operation, linearity, speed control, and higher efficiency. A permanent magnet synchronous motor is designed and the effect of Inter Turn Short Circuit (ITSC) fault on performance characteristics is carried out for different severity levels by using Finite Element Method (FEM). Electrical faults lead to the critical failure of the electrical motors. Short circuit faults come under Electrical Faults. The finite element method provides a finite and inexpensive technique for analyzing electric motors. This method takes into account all the complex geometry, nonlinear characteristics of the motor, end effects, and axial fringing effects. Fault detection and analysis in PMSM using this method can assure the reliability of detection as well as the sensitivity of fault in a PMSM.","PeriodicalId":182428,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Power, Instrumentation, Energy and Control (PIECON)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133592579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hardware malfunctions, power issues, battery life, and efficiency are challenges encountered while employing sensor devices to collect data. In such situations, data that is inconsistent may be recorded. By applying these types of dataset, inaccurate results may be produced when performing classification or other data analytic methods. In order to discover anomalous data from a huge dataset, this paper suggests a hybrid mechanism. Three unsupervised machine learning techniques are used to construct this mechanism. First, this study reduces superfluous data by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Isolation Forest (IF) is then used to find outlier scores. Finally, K-means clustering is used to distinguish between abnormal (anomalies) and regular data using a visual representation of cluster assignments. The cluster assessment indices’ criteria were used to evaluate this hybrid approach. According to the findings, this hybrid technique would be suitable for identifying anomalous data inside each data index of the dataset, depending on the target value.","PeriodicalId":182428,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Power, Instrumentation, Energy and Control (PIECON)","volume":"21 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123243357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
