The greatest challenge was the time factor in other words, the prov,ision of a comprehensive telecommunication system as quick]), as possible. There were two reasons why this was particularly imiportant: 1. The telecommiunication network in the newN states had to be technically as good as, or better than, that in the west. so that enitreprenieurs would not be deterred fromi invlesting. 2. For decades.. the people i-n the niewN states had miade do either with miultiple or party lines, or wvith no telephone at all. For political reasons, therefore, it was felt that the timec had come to bring them up to the level of their nieighibours in the west.","PeriodicalId":178715,"journal":{"name":"TELESCON '94 - The First International Telecommunications Energy Special Conference","volume":"368 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1994-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132465462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first approach gives higher value of Total Harmonic Distortion but is much simpler and thus cheaper, more efficient and more reliable. It is concluded that, from the user point of view, there is no need to accept these penalties to buy low value of THD.","PeriodicalId":178715,"journal":{"name":"TELESCON '94 - The First International Telecommunications Energy Special Conference","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1994-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131050723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This employs a tapped inductor for low-pass filter to minimize a circulating current flowing through the transformer and switching devices. By using the tapped inductor and a saturable reactor(s), the converter achieves soft-switching with both low commutating and low circulating currents resulting in low switching and conduction losses. The effective performance of the converter is experimentally confirmed with a 100KHz-500W breadbord.","PeriodicalId":178715,"journal":{"name":"TELESCON '94 - The First International Telecommunications Energy Special Conference","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1994-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126549580","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
