In order to avoid the need for this metallic back plate, a planar array of SRRs for resonant-magnetic inclusion is placed facing toward the incident wave propagation direction. In contrast to common absorber configurations, the absorber proposed in this paper does not use a metallic back plate or a resistive sheet. Both simulation results and experiments on the fabricated absorber verify the effectiveness of the proposed backplane-less MTM absorber.","PeriodicalId":178493,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115051862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, a realistic model of the time-varying sea surface with a quadratic phase is proposed and the characteristic of fractional power spectrum (FPS) of scattered echoes is investigated. The FPS of the proposed scattered field is found to be distributed as sum of sinc functions, whose locations in the fractional Fourier domain are relative to the chirp rate and central frequency of the 1-D sea surface model. Numerical results using X-band real sea clutter data prove that the proposed model provides a good description of the time-varying sea surface especially for the analysis of non-Bragg scattering.","PeriodicalId":178493,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation","volume":"147 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116318012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hybrid plasmonic waveguide (HPW) exhibits relatively low propagation loss of ~0.12 dB/μm and high coupling efficiency of ~86% with the conventional Si waveguides. The plasmonic waveguide-ring resonator with a compact radius of 1.59 μm exhibits high performance such as large extinction ratio of ~18 dB, small bandwidth of ~4 nm, and large free spectral range of ~74 nm. These superior performances as well as the fully CMOS compatibility make them promising building blocks for silicon electronic-photonic integrated circuits for data communications and sensing applications.","PeriodicalId":178493,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129528050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The electric and magnetic field components for the leapfrog ADI-FDTD method are updated implicitly and thus, additional considerations need to be ensured for implementation of the boundary conditions. The first-order Mur updating equation is implemented for both the electric and magnetic field updates. Numerical results for the reflection errors and late time stability are presented.","PeriodicalId":178493,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128454504","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The two arrays have an overall size of 120×20.7×1.3cm3 and 107.5×20.4×1.7cm3, respectively, and exhibit high gains and adequate efficiencies due to effective array designs. For the receiving panel array, a method using a number of high efficiency sub-arrays combined with a novel active integrated global feed network is proposed. For the transmitting panel array, a number of high efficiency sub-arrays together with a novel compact waveguide feed network is employed. Based on the above techniques, two large panel antenna arrays are successfully developed. We present detailed designs of the sub-arrays, the passive and active feed networks, and the vertical transitions. Simulated and experimental results show that the designed receiving and transmitting panel arrays achieve the measured gains and efficiencies of 34.1dBi, 48.2% and 33.5dBi, 36.3%, respectively, which indicates that the proposed antenna panels are good candidates for future satellite communications applications.","PeriodicalId":178493,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129610478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
