In recent years there has been a growing awareness in energy-efficient building design and operation of the building stock. Dynamic envelope/window systems have potential to optimize the performance of the building, between airing, solar heat gain and daylight admission. However, higher thermal resistance glazing implies a reduction of solar transmittance. A typical street canyon in Portugal was used for the present study. Three different room ratios and two types of windows at two different floors were used for comparison. Different simulation tools were used during this study. To be comparable with other studies several ratios were present, as the window/wall, the glazing/wall ratios, the window/floor and the glazing/floor ratios as well as the window opening area. This paper presents the obtained airflow and solar gains on both heating and cooling season in addition to the level of daylight factor. It was found that specific adaptive actions to improve indoor environmental quality and reduce the need of energy consumption are needed.","PeriodicalId":177785,"journal":{"name":"WEENTECH Proceedings in Energy","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116000494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is necessary for GC to have quick actions to preserve their energy resources and protect their environment. The current paper identifies the main energy conservation strategies that were widely adopted in GC. The efforts that were conducted by GC to manage the energy consumption and to establish the required regulations are presented. The paper also investigates possibilities for the use of alternative sources of clean energy that might avoid the disadvantages of the conventional sources of energy. It is found that in order to protect the environment and the maintain the fossil fuel wealth for longer time, long term strategies must be implemented, and alternative sources of renewable energy must be utilized.","PeriodicalId":177785,"journal":{"name":"WEENTECH Proceedings in Energy","volume":"14 12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123720944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ilić","doi":"10.32438/WPE.8918","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32438/WPE.8918","url":null,"abstract":"Even though the share of renewable energy in the transport sector has increased during the last decade, the sector is still highly dependent on fossil fuels. Consequences are for example emissions of greenhouse gases, particulates, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. This is of great concern for the environment, climate change, and human health. This study reviews scientific publications about sustainable development of the road transport sector, published 2005-2018. The aim of the study is to investigate if there are differences in the measures and strategies presented in the publications depending on the geographical areas studied, and to analyse if there are differences depending on year of publication. The authors analysed to what extent local conditions influence the choice of proposed measures and strategies. A system perspective was applied in order to include measures related to the whole life cycle of the road transport, as well as other sectors, which influence or are influenced by the transport sector. A literature review was performed using the search-engine Web of Science. Results show that important local conditions that may influence the research focus within the area of sustainable development of the road transport sector are for example: energy supply security (e.g. availability of biomass and renewable electricity, as well as access to domestic fossil fuel resources), possibilities for developing infrastructure for biofuel supply and charging of electric vehicles, political priorities and approaches, and traditions.","PeriodicalId":177785,"journal":{"name":"WEENTECH Proceedings in Energy","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133343154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Chow","doi":"10.32438/WPE.0418","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32438/WPE.0418","url":null,"abstract":"Tri-generation system combines the supply of electric power, heating and cooling energy into one single system. Compared to the separated energy generation systems, the advantages lie in its higher efficiency, reliability and flexibility, as well as the reduced pollutant emissions. Yet the mismatch in system electricity and thermal demands often downgrades its effectiveness and economic merits. At this end, the adoption of thermal energy storage can be a practical means of improvement. Among the various choices, the finned latent heat storage using phase change material is distinct advantage owing to its high energy density. On the other hand, the finned latent heat storage design requires a detailed analysis of the heat transfer process. In this paper, our numerical model is introduced for use in simulating the associated complex heat transfer processes. The accuracy of the numerical model has been verified making use of the published experimental data available from the literature. Furthermore, our follow-up parametric study shows that the increase of fin thickness will improve the heat transfer performance for a given design configuration and the better heat transfer can be achieved with the reduction in fin length and fin spacing as well.","PeriodicalId":177785,"journal":{"name":"WEENTECH Proceedings in Energy","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116741310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are other sources for getting the ‘green energy’. One of them is geothermal source, the energy stored in the underground fluids. In the world, geothermal water is used mostly for heating purposes, greenhouses, agriculture, for generation of warm water, therapeutic and recreational purposes and to generate electricity in power stations. After these uses, geothermal water is usually seen as waste water. This research presents the idea for innovative energy harvesting from the salinity gradient on the basis of waste geothermal water. Two methods are analyzed to be used: capacitive mixing (CAPMIX) and reverse electrodialysis (RED). The aim of the research concept is analysis for testing the applicability of both methods in energy harvesting from mixing of saline geothermal water and RO brine with water, before its re-injection to underground reservoirs.","PeriodicalId":177785,"journal":{"name":"WEENTECH Proceedings in Energy","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131828269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on 132 dynamic simulations, a modifiable sunspace was built on the sun-exposed side of a nZEB mock-up in Central Italy and monitored via an extensive sensor network. The conditioning system tracked the seasonal set point via a bang-bang controller, while the VMC was governed by a bespoke temperature-driven logic. In a previous run, irradiative and combined irradiative-convective modes were tested on a 30% glazed sunspace: VMC was found to dump the daily energy consumption to -27%. Then; a second monitoring campaign compared the 30% and 50% configurations. The former guaranteed very stable indoor conditions (20.1±0.3°C), yet the latter still preserved global comfort at a remarkably lower (-40%) energy expenditure.","PeriodicalId":177785,"journal":{"name":"WEENTECH Proceedings in Energy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129244753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, after several years’ effort, the air quality has improved significantly but far from reaching people’s needs. To improve the supervision strategies for meeting a better supervision and treatment effect, this paper will evaluate the effect of the cooperative supervision on air pollution and control in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and give several advices on the improvement of existing supervision method through results analyzation. Firstly, a comprehensive evaluation criteria system is established. Then a novel method of determining weight is firstly proposed in this paper, -fuzzy measure and AHP are used for determining weights which can not only consider the correlation among criteria but also take care of the will of the decision-makers. Finally, we obtain the evaluation ranking results by Fuzzy comprehensive evaluation combined with Cloud model and several advice is proposed. In general, the model can provide reference for monitoring and evaluating the effect of supervision on air pollution prevention and control in other regions and the results analysis provide a great reference to the decision makers to optimize the cooperative supervision in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.","PeriodicalId":177785,"journal":{"name":"WEENTECH Proceedings in Energy","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125100560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
