A Organização Mundial da Saúde recomenda uma ingestão de um mínimo de 400g ou cinco porções de frutas e vegetais por dia para a prevenção de doenças crónicas, como doença cardíaca, diabetes e obesidade. O presente estudo tem como objetivo investigar a prevalência e factores associados à ingestão inadequada de frutas e vegetais, numa amostra de angolanos adultos que participaram do estudo CardioBengo.Metodologia: Um estudo observacional analítico transversal de base comunitária foi realizado no Município do Dande, na Província do Bengo, em Angola entre Setembro de 2013 e Março de 2014. Esta pesquisa constitui uma linha de base mais ampla sobre factores de risco cardiovascular, usando a metodologia proposta pelo manual WHO-STEPS to Chronic Disease Risk Factor. Variáveis sociodemográficas, comportamentais e clínicas foram colhidas e análise de regressão foi usada para estabelecer a associação entre as variáveis e o consumo de frutas e vegetais.Resultados: A amostra total incluiu 2161 indivíduos com idades compreendidas entre 18 a 64 anos, na qual 64.1% eram mulheres. A escolaridade de 57.2% dos participantes foi menor que o ensino médio e somente 6.6% frequentavam o ensino superior. 61.7% vivia maritalmente, 48.3% tinha rendimento inferior a 150 USD, 21% eram hipertensos, 17.6% tinha hipercolesterolemia, 10.4% tinha hiperglicemia, 8.7% eram obesos e 32.3% tinha obesidade abdominal. Cerca de 38.8% tinha hábitos etílicos, enquanto 6.8% era tabagista. A prevalência de consumo insuficiente de frutas e vegetais na amostra foi de 86.2%. Verificou-se que o sexo feminino, o baixo nível de escolaridade e faixa etária dos 20-29 anos foram associados à ingestão inadequada de frutas e vegetais (p = 0.010, p = 0.001 e p = 0.006, respectivamente).Conclusão: Não houve associação entre o consumo de frutas e vegetais e os factores de risco cardiovascular, foi identificada uma prevalência de consumo de frutas e vegetais muito abaixo das recomendações actuais. Os factores de risco identificados podem servir como estratégia local para aumentar o seu consumo.","PeriodicalId":176982,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135197801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the elderly population continues to grow, the role of the physiotherapist becomes indispensable in promoting the autonomy and independence of these individuals. This study presents a narrative review on the physiotherapist's role in preventing immobility syndrome in the elderly. Immobility syndrome primarily affects the musculoskeletal system, leading to functional limitations that impact posture transfer and bed-to-chair mobility, hindering daily activities, altering gait patterns, and reducing the activity of certain systems. The implementation of early rehabilitation protocols within the first 48 hours of intervention can be applied to improve mobilization and prevent the onset of immobility syndrome. As the elderly population expands, the proactive involvement of physiotherapists in preventing and managing immobility-related issues becomes crucial. This not only enhances the quality of life for older individuals but also reduces the burden on healthcare systems. Overall, physiotherapy plays a vital role in mitigating the negative effects of immobility in the elderly, promoting their well-being, and maintaining their functional independence.","PeriodicalId":176982,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122158560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It carries a poor prognosis, with an average life expectancy of up to 5 years. Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) is a comprehensive intervention involving detailed patient assessments and tailored therapies aimed at improving physical and emotional well-being, promoting long-term health-promoting behaviors. To assess the effectiveness of PR in IPF patients, an integrative review study was conducted, focusing on articles published from 2010 to 2020. Results showed improvements in exercise tolerance, functional capacity, and quality of life. While the Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) produced mixed results, most patients demonstrated gains. Interventions ranged from physical training alone to combined exercise and educational support programs, lasting 6 to 12 weeks, conducted 2-3 times weekly. Despite noted improvements during the intervention, sustaining gains remains a challenge, highlighting the need for further research to refine PR protocols tailored to IPF patients' specific needs.","PeriodicalId":176982,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135499143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These widely used exams involve pharmaceutical agents, yet adverse reactions can arise. This study targets primary risks and adverse reactions tied to major contrast media in radiology. It assesses current concepts and protocols to minimize these reactions. Techniques for contrast-enhanced images demand element-based substances: iodinated, barium-based, and gadolinium-based contrasts. Adherence to manufacturer's guidelines and implementing prevention and adverse reaction procedures is vital. This study includes angiography, urography, transit studies, CT scans, and MRI as key contrast-enhanced exams. Employing a qualitative approach, it conducts a literature review. Neglecting risk assessment and safe administration can cause substantial disruptions due to adverse reactions. Protocols like desensitization and life support from a skilled medical team, alongside established protocols, reduce patient fatality risks.","PeriodicalId":176982,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125136131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With aging, there is a decrease in brain activity, which can lead to a reduction in reflexes and sensitivity, changes in attention, and the development of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in maintaining and recovering a healthy and active lifestyle, seeking aging with greater functional independence, and delaying the progression of cognitive decline. Therefore, the present study aimed to develop a physiotherapy protocol for cognitive rehabilitation in the elderly based on a literature review. The protocol can optimize occupational performance and delay the conversion of dementia in elderly people with MCI. In the multidisciplinary team, the physiotherapist can conduct individual or group strategies and interventions with elderly individuals with normal cognitive function, aiming to improve performance in mnemonic tasks and daily activities that require greater cognitive attention. Protocols serve as guides for professionals, leading them to the desired path, and focus on observation and evaluation, aiming at significant contributions to institutions, elderly people, and their families.","PeriodicalId":176982,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Clinical Medicine and Review","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124987643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
